Re: First Drive: Ford EcoSport Test Drive Review

However the article says "The leaked brochure (credit to The Automotive India), reveals, as is the unwanted practice of entry level variants, Ford EcoSport is available without ABS, Driver airbag, Passenger airbag, side and curtain airbags, emergency assist, configurable speed alarm in fuel computer, ISOFIX (for child safety seats), Rear parking sensors, and emergency brake hazard warning...."

If ford provides all the above noted items then it would become a top end [evil]. I think now a days everyone started writing reviews without any research or anything. [frustration]

But yes I too feel base level should have atleast ABS and one airbag.

Yes, ABS & driver side airbag should become standard across all variants.

These days, driving has become a pain with J-walkers, cyclist, uncalled speed breakers, pot holes, insane drivers etc. Hence, the concerned body should re-write the basic requirements for 4 wheelers.

Re: First Drive: Ford EcoSport Test Drive Review

it would cost another 50 or 60 thousand rupees if they added safety futures and airbags to base (barebone) varient.

with this configuration it sounds like ford will offer the base varient @ mouthwatering price

compare the base varient future with other brand base variant then you know how good it is,
most of them doesnt bother about safety and air bags they just want a good car at cheep price with awesome mileage

(in naked state one who wear dress will be considered as fool / comedian) ford already became fool by offering wow futures on base varient fiesta, so they leart it and doesnt repeat again
lets wait for few more days and see

Re: First Drive: Ford EcoSport Test Drive Review

I still think the pricing will be what i have got from a chennai ford based guy who told that the price of
1.5 MT petrol 5.99 lakh
1.5 MT Diesel 6.99 lakh
1.0 Ecoboost titanium 7.99 lakh

as the prices and they might stand in a range of

6.99-8.99(AT) for 1.5 AT petrol On the road
7.99-9.99(T O) for 1.5 MT Diesel On the road
8.99-9.5(T O) for MT 1.0 Ecoboost On the road

As per me its a ripper price tag, the confusion lies in Ecoboost vs Diesel both are excellent buy, but the absence of under engine and under body cladding in Ecoboost makes me think Diesel is a better buy as it gets better milage almost same power better throttle response and good low end torque
Petrol Ecoboost is for those who like to drive hard(that includes me as well) but the above told issue is a real deal breaker for me

These are all unrealistic figures..Please understand that this is a B segment car and not a C. Your prices are C segment..Also where is the benifit from the Export sales..

Also, 5.99 L for Ambiatte is to expensive as there are no features..

My guesses are it would start as below
Amb 5.2 L
Trend 5.8 L
Titanum 6.5L
Titanium Ecoboost 7L
Titanium O 7.5L
Automatic 7.8

Add 1.2 L for Diesel.

Ford is really suffering from sales..they cannot take any further risks..

These prices are very nominal according to me as ES has more features except auto folding mirrors than in new fiesta in its options list and more space more powerful engine and better tuning as well, also if ford wanted to price ES low they could have priced new fiesta a little bit lower as well even after the sudden dip in sales to make new fiesta go at least 1 car extra per month

And do you think Ford will price it as low as what you expect even though it has tax exemptions , i dont think so and even though its a b segment car they havent compromised in its quality exterior and interior which is same as new fiesta which goes upto 11.8 lakh on road here at trivandrum for titanium diesel, so 9+ lak for onroad price diesel is a good 2 lakh below fiesta sedan and in same price league of base variant duster with no goodies inside and same price as full option ertiga and slightly more priced than the ford classic, so i hope the information is almost close to its purity

The reason i am almost confident in this pricing is that, the guy who gave me this information stated a little more facts that will come from the ford stable a few years after too and one is already true(the unveiling of Ford Escort in China)
What the birdie told is
1.)Ford will redesign ford figo and classic in 2014, figo will get new 1.5 TDCi with 75 bhp and 170NM from 2000 rpm as a new diesel engine which is a detuned version of 1.5 TDCI for better CO2 norms and same mil;age as 1.4 TDCi
2.)Ford will release a new Figo petrol with 1.0 Tivct engine(the non turbo version of 125 ps 1.0 Ecobost in ES) with 79 bhp and 110 NM but with 12:1 compression ratio so better power and better revving engine and its a 3 cylinder unit as well so a better milage as well
3.)Ford will release a new Ford A segment car to compete with the Alto k10 as well with a 1.0 Tivct ecoboost 3 cylinder with 69 bhp as well(aka Ford KA)
4.)Ford will release Kuga,Escort,Mondeo all in the indian market based on Ecosports success in India and the Sanand plant in gujarat which will commence working by 2015

This guy also stated that ford redesigns its cars every 4 years globally and that was on stake due to poor economy and now they are back on track with some plant closure in Europe and Australia and concentrating more on their parent country America where Ford was a huge flop except for some trucks and now the Escape(Kuga) is 1 of the top selling cars in US and they have regained economy and so they will continue their global progress by expanding to India,China and Asia pacific and what this guy told is that Global Ford has given Ford India a huge assignment to make ES a success in India and if it becomes the success the further products like Kuga,Mondeo,Escort, new Fiesta 2014 etc will follow otherwise these cars will again be put to wait until Ford India proves their mettle
As far as what has happened from the day he gave me this information all have been true and so i trust this rumor as well, agree or not i believe this so i posted it

Here is brand position of global Ford

Re: First Drive: Ford EcoSport Test Drive Review

Has anyone on the earth drove the 1.5Ltr Powershift AT variant? I am desperately waiting to know how this engine performs in the Ecosport compared to the new Fiesta Powershift AT as the ES weighs around 100kg+ more than the new Fiesta!

Re: First Drive: Ford EcoSport Test Drive Review

4 seater is a bit of thumbs down for me. exterior looks huge and well built. I look at this doing good trade at its launch. Not sure if it will continue its trade. Something like the Renault Duster. That is to be seen.

As far as the pricing goes i believe its going to start from 7.5 lakhs and the titanium variant goes upto 14 lakhs. Hope it reignites ford's rule after its somewhat disappointing trade in 2013.

Cheers

Exactly my thoughts man!!

Howcome, Ford is able to do it in such a coveted manner. Isn't this going to be the biggest launch for Ford after Figo.

Re: First Drive: Ford EcoSport Test Drive Review

Launch is not on 11th or 12th. Ford is in the process of concluding urban discovery campaign. They need to go through all the discoveries of 35 teams, judge and declare the winner. Need to highlight them. Highlight their positive comments and feedback. Ford wants their feedback to be published every where before and after the launch. And now 35 teams are into their last week of the campaign. This whole process takes time. Hence the launch would be on 17th June.
