Re: First Drive: Ford EcoSport Test Drive Review

Your above 2 statements are completely contradictory brother . Car is just not about ride and handling its about many other aspects ( price , reliability , space , price ) and the japs and Koreans beat ford their hands down not just in India but worldwide by a good margin .

I think you were talking about ride quality and handling and not nvh levels , road noise , interiors .
I don't how much have you travelled in a duster , since my 2 friends have 1 duster and 1 vw Vento , Vento has a plush , classy cabin , but its no way as comfortable as the duster , the hump in the middle itself makes it comfortable for 2 adults only .

There is no point in bringing the virtues of new fiesta and vw polo or Vento in a ES thread since they are completely different cars .

The ES is based on the fiestas B platform just this nothing else . Its same like Honda city is based on jaaz platform and both are different cars .

Just to avoid off topic discussions we must stick only to ES . And not bring the new fiesta , Vento in this discussion IMHO .
2013 Ford EcoSport Diesel Driven In India
Check this review where the contradiction again starts to bloom overdrive quoting that the Ecoboost handles better than diesel

See the statements i made are not contradictory, what i told is in the ride and handling department japs and koreans are way below ford globally and in india as well, about price reliability and space we havent driven ES so i will hold on to the current reviews where most of them told it will be adequately spacious, rides well though not as good as duster and engines are great as well
I pushed NVH into the topic because while i test drove duster i almost reached 120 kmph in the 85 ps on the highway and there the wind noise and road noise was bother some enough to bring a sense of insecurity for me also i felt the diesel vibration excessively through pedals and steering into the cabin which was not the case with sedans and i compared vento and duster because duster top end rxl 85 ps costs 11.7 lakh onroad in trivandrum here, vento costs 12.3 lakh for its top end so cross shoppers here are taking vento instead of duster because atleast some of them feels the more classy more elegant more quality rich vento does provide more VFM
@Raja but i will agree with your statement that duster has better ride than sedans

Re: First Drive: Ford EcoSport Test Drive Review

AT variant doesnt come with Keyless entry. The '*' mark on Push button start & keylss entry is acronymed at the bottom of the 3rd page of brochure.
Welcome to TAI! Yes you are right, the AT variant won't come with Keyless entry and Push button start/stop system. I too was in confusion though with the star marks, but it was hard for me to read the definitions at the end of the page due to poor clarity:) Nonetheless I am very pleased with the specs of the AT variant and more than meets my requirements on the safety aspects.

Nice scoop Gurukadur! Very useful information [clap]

While looking at the specs if anyone going for petrol the 1.5P also looks very attractive.(I was ignoring it so far [frustration]) Only thing you would miss is leather seats, key-less entry and the push start. Plus you would get 10 year trouble free DCT, hill assist, emergency break assist, stability control, traction control...wow that's amazing package now. If there is a significant price difference between Titanium and Titanium (Option) its really worthwhile to look at it. Anyone has any idea on the kind of mileage 1.5 P would deliver considering ES to be more heavier than new fiesta?

But to do any real value analysis key info i.e 'Price' still missing

I have a doubt in the specs, i see the Titanium (O) doesn't have the 4 speakers but have the 2 tweeters. does that mean there is no speakers in the top most option?

Or is that a mistake?

hello i suggest the 1.5l petrol is a good option only if you need a stress free drive but even still if you are not an enthusiastic driver because with the huge kerb weight of around 1290 kg the 1.5 l petrol will surely struggle in highway or maybe even in start stop traffic as well, if you are looking for the best automatic under 10 lakh Rs be sure to take a look at polo GT TSI, the DSG is much more advanced and faster and more efficient in converting torque so better drivability and milage and 1.2 TSi is a nice engine as well

Hello,

Here's my first real contribution to the forum.

Please find official brochures attached. While it looks almost close to draft specs shared earlier, It does help close out many questions we had on variants.

Now only question remaining is the price...[:)][:)]

Thanks for the brochure, but looks like there is nothing in Ambiente and Trend variants. These 2 will be total flop in India market.

hi Raj,

The price at which these two will be positioned, they will sell. Now, it totally depends upon the pricing.

It will have additional 2 tweeters, so 4 speakers + 2 tweeters

Re: First Drive: Ford EcoSport Test Drive Review

However the article says "The leaked brochure (credit to The Automotive India), reveals, as is the unwanted practice of entry level variants, Ford EcoSport is available without ABS, Driver airbag, Passenger airbag, side and curtain airbags, emergency assist, configurable speed alarm in fuel computer, ISOFIX (for child safety seats), Rear parking sensors, and emergency brake hazard warning...."

If ford provides all the above noted items then it would become a top end [evil]. I think now a days everyone started writing reviews without any research or anything. [frustration]

But yes I too feel base level should have atleast ABS and one airbag.
