I agree on FE but maintenance NO issues. I have not seen any maintenance issues or cost escalation with Torque converter AT. At 60K or 80K mile some transmission fluid replacement cost will be there other than it is even better than manual where you don't have to replace clutch plates etc. on regular intervals. Torque Converter AT is the one best to experience automatic transmissions especially on Indian Conditions. I have driven Dual Clutch, CVT and Torque converter auto transmissions and AMT test drives. No comparison between AMT vs Torque Converter AT, latter is miles ahead in terms of driving experience. Even if I am going for higher range cars it will be 8-speed (BMW or Volvo) or 9-speed (Mercedes) torque converter AT only.
This where Nexon engines will shine with high torque and make it smooth, still Torque converters AT will be better, however, the FE and maintenance will be pretty high vs AMT units
