Re: Ford EcoSport Facelift 2017 Exclusive Spyshots

This where Nexon engines will shine with high torque and make it smooth, still Torque converters AT will be better, however, the FE and maintenance will be pretty high vs AMT units
I agree on FE but maintenance NO issues. I have not seen any maintenance issues or cost escalation with Torque converter AT. At 60K or 80K mile some transmission fluid replacement cost will be there other than it is even better than manual where you don't have to replace clutch plates etc. on regular intervals. Torque Converter AT is the one best to experience automatic transmissions especially on Indian Conditions. I have driven Dual Clutch, CVT and Torque converter auto transmissions and AMT test drives. No comparison between AMT vs Torque Converter AT, latter is miles ahead in terms of driving experience. Even if I am going for higher range cars it will be 8-speed (BMW or Volvo) or 9-speed (Mercedes) torque converter AT only.

I agree. I already got the clutch unit of Celerio replaced at 28k KM. And apparently many others had to get it replaced much earlier. Thankfully the price on the bill summary was quite low (no charge to me, covered under warranty)

Are you talking about AMT?
Usually for a manual car clutch wearing out at less than 50k kms means extremely poor quality

Guys had been to the dealer I had contacted for a test drive. My impressions are the cabin feels much better in terms of layout and quality than the older one and the performance of the petrol engine is good. Has good pickup in 2nd gear too. There is some clutter on start but that disappears later. The front seats felt good. The suspension is surely softer so the bad patches can be felt a little more inside but not too bad. The AC was good and chilled the cabin in no time (inputs from my brother and mother sitting behind). The quality and interface of the touchscreen is excellent and smooth. The sound quality was decent but not sure on how it'll fare against Nexon's Harman system. Did not test drive the Diesel one so cannot comment on that. Also according to the SA even the Titanium variant gets a woofer behind the screen like the Titanium + variant.
For those in doubt if there is Sport 'S' mode on Trend + AT, that is not there. Instead there is a 'L' mode which according to the SA is for downhill descents.
Also got to see the Ambiente,Trend + (diesel) and Trend + AT which were on display at the showroom. Must say the screen quality of the 6.5" is on par with the 8" but misses on a few minor features is what the SA said (not sure of the exact features). Also did not feel the screen to be much smaller than the 8" one. The showroom was full of Ecosport's and no other Ford cars. [lol]
Attaching a few pictures. First two are of Ambiente (diamond white) and others are of Trend + AT (smoke grey). Sorry for a bad quality picture of the 6.5" screen.

grey colour looks good. also wish the silver colour on interior parts was offered in titanium too.. looks good to me and breaks the flow of total black interior.

The Trend+ AT looks nice and great value for money offering?
And @thegreatv did you test drive the AT or Manual?
also any idea which tires the lower variants come with ie MRF /Apollo/ or any other
Is there separate door lock buttons front front passenger and driver doors in lower variants?

Hi. Yes the Trend + AT according to me has decent amount of features (atleast for me) and is priced competitively. The AT test drives are expected to start in 3-4 days and I am going to go again since I too am considering it. The tyres used on the Trend + AT display car was of Goodyear Assurance. I am attaching the photo but you will have to zoom in a little. The profile is the same as Titanium (205-60/16) so the 16 inch alloys on the Titanium variant are a direct fit (personally would prefer a better design outside since I found the OEM ones too bland).
As for the door locks I did not spend much time in the Ambiente and Trend was not on display so can't comment on that, but Trend + (diesel) and Trend + AT had it. The next time I go will surely check the Ambiente variant and let you know.

Yes. Forgot to mention AMT

In the Trend+ AT, Is there a toggle switch to change gears manually next to the lever like in the previous version?

Saw this pic on Team BHP

Ford ES gb.jpg

Which means the 6 combinations of engine and gearbox are being manufactured at the Ecosport factory in Chennai.

1. 1.5 Liter Dragon Petrol engine with IB5- 5 speed gearbox
2. 1.5 Liter DV5 Diesel engine with IB5- 5 speed gearbox
3. 1.5 Liter Dragon Petrol engine with 6F15 - 6 speed Automatic Gearbox
4. 2.0 Liter GDI Petrol Engine with 6F35 -6 speed Automatic Gearbox
5. 1.0 Liter Fox(Ecoboost) Petrol Engine with 6F15 - 6 speed Automatic Gearbox
6. 1.0 Liter Fox(Ecoboost) Petrol Engine with 6mx65 -6 speed Manual Gearbox.

We know 1 to 3 variants are for Ecosport are for the Indian market and 4 and 5 is for the US market. For which market is the 6th variant for? Possible S variant int he Indian Market?
