Re: Ford EcoSport Facelift 2017 Exclusive Spyshots

SCOOP! We build Ford’s all-new Dragon engine set to debut in new Ecosport in Oct. See Oct issue @autocarindiamag

View attachment 233130
123 HP @ 6500 rpm and 150 NM @ 4500 rpm, SWEEET
Now this engine will be superb , more I find about this new Dragon Engine more I am getting confused between Nexon and Ecosport.

I dont think theres much of a comparison, Ecosport is a far more proven product and any new car from Tata/Mahindra should be taken with a pinch of salt imho

All fine but looks like the launch is getting postponed, If it is this late in the year better to start with 2018 manufactured vehicles

Re: Ford EcoSport Facelift 2017 Exclusive Spyshots

Just had a mobile talk with reliable persons in showroom at Delhi, Mumbai and Surat.
All said one thing in common:

'Sir, Training 1st week November followed by Launch in mid December and deliveries starting after 2nd week January. Honestly the facelift car with new engine is worth the wait. And if have an urgency to buy than we have attractive offers on Current EcoSport.'

Now i am in a fix. Should i wait for EcoSport 1.5 Litre Dragon Petrol AT or proceed with Nexon Diesel XZ+? [frustration][confused]

ford is going GM way, handing over the 2 most productive months (tata in sept 18%+ YoY and mahindra 23% YoY) to other companies. extremely poor strategy.

Ford is far from going the GM way, their strategy is miles better and they are constantly improving
-Coming from a Chevy owner

GM was not updating products in India on purpose to bring in SAIC/MG, their lineup was outdated and had rebranded Chinese cars

I do not mind waiting for EcoSport. But concerned if i dont like the new ecosport and the price of Nexon is hiked ending the introductory price offer around the same time. Anyways atleast would prefer getting a 2018 made model than buying in November end or December. To my wildest imagination Ford is probably waiting for the Nexon to hike the prices and than introduce EcoSport at though higher but atleast logical pricing.

I dont think thats the case, see Nexon is India only product, same is the case for Brezza,
Ecosport is a global product and the production of it to many other countries depend on India, eg USA,
So What I feel Ford is doing is managing the surplus they need for both markets even before launch , the European and US markets and Indian market Ecosport is wildly different as well, so the Sanand and Chennai plants need to manage a ratio of US:European: Indian Ecosport manufactured , so in effect although the annual capacity is 2 lakhs vehicles out of 2 plants maybe 60-90k cars can be made within 1 year for India, so they might be making arrangements for a balanced production

All said between Nexon ZX+ and Ecosport Petrol AT vs Nexon AMT, the decision is tough, one cant go wrong with any of these products, still I would say wait for Ecosport as some might like the interior and features and a more robust feeling vehicle like Ecosport despite its bigger price tag.

i dont think that would be the case as it would be very difficult for ford to assume the demand beforehand, even before showcasing the product. they can assume the demand even with the enquiries generated in the showrooms, but for that they need to launch it atleast. the story was different when ecosport was 1st launched as there was not other such product and that resulted in waiting period of 6+months. now that we have so many options, i dont believe that ford would keep large amount to stocks ready before the launch.

seems logical as ford in no way would be able to match or even get close to the current nexon prices. still hoping for diwali launch.

Re: Ford EcoSport Facelift 2017 Exclusive Spyshots

Maybe I am wrong but my sense as to why Ford is delaying India launch could have to do with 2 things:
1. Current unsold stock with dealers
2. Production constraints to meet global + local demand for new Ecosport

For the month of September, domestic sales were down 2.76 percent to 8,769 units as against 9,018 units in September 2016.

Following quote is interesting:
"New model launch planning along with ongoing constraints in supply chain continued to impact our wholesale in September," Ford India President and Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra said

Surely he is talking about Ecosport. But then he said following which does not reveal any timeline
"We believe these should be addressed by fourth quarter helping us move back into the growth trajectory."

I think November launch looks more likely than October. Wholesale sales of 8,769 clearly indicates that Ford is still shipping old Ecosport model to its dealers. Usually we see a dip in numbers for any vehicle whose facelift is about to get launched.
