May I say that Fiat could have just called THIS version as the Punto Sport instead of branding it differently. Because there hardly seem to be any changes to the Punto save for the external spare tyre (and perhaps some unnecessary trinkets like inclinometer or some such junk).
Unless they have a GC of 200mm, 4x4 capability, Dualogic box, 1.5/1.6 MJD, 1.4 Tjet/Multi Air, I dont see whats so special.
People arent going to get sold on a cosmetically beefed up Punto. Todays people compare numbers (blame it on IT service industry). The language during casual interaction with sales persons or amongst each other is like
"what is the engine capacity". 1300cc "the other car is 1500/1600cc."
"what is the power" 92 bhp."other is 105 , arrey but Verna is 128!!"
"mileage is how much" 18."other one is 22 claimed.."
"But Fiat service is very poor (
), thats what everybody says isnt it."- What the heck?
Whatever you say. Honda is a Honda, concludes this gent.
No discussion on features, driving dynamics, steering feedback, ride quality or even build quality. Because the average customer is simply unaware that these are Fiat strengths.

Production Spec Fiat Avventura Interiors!
The interiors are shared with the recently launched Fiat Punto EVO, and what it looks like an image of the base variant of the Fiat Avventura (probably the Active – as AC controls are manual) which sports a dual tone shade. Maybe just like the EVO, it might get an all-black treatment.

- The spy shots seems to of base variant – Active (maybe mid – Dynamic) but similar to the Linea it also features Fiat's new built-in audio unit. Apart from this interiors are similar to the EVO, expect amber ambient light, rear AC vents, Fiat's Blue&Me (Bluetoothphone integration with voice controls) with steering controls.
- The spy shot reveals a 5-speed gearbox contrary to the 6-speeder that they showcased at the Expo, but it might be the FIRE petrol variant of the Avventura!
- The Punto already features a modest 280 liter boot space and now with the mounted spare wheel, it will lead to the Avventura boasting boot-space close to 300 liters!
- Mechanically, expect powertrains for the Avventura to be the 90HP 1.3L MULTIJET diesel and the 1.4L FIRE petrol. The 90HP turbo diesel sports a variable-geometry-turbo churning out 92bhp at 4000rpm and 209Nm of max torque at 2000rpm. While the 1.4 lite naturally aspirated FIRE petrol gathers 88.8bhp at 6000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 4500rpm.
- The production spec car features an inclinometer (Inclinometer measure angles of slope, elevation or depression of a vehicle with respect to gravity) that the company showcased at the Auto Expo; placed above the central AC louvers and also incorporates a compass!

I really wish Fiat the best of luck, being an extremely satisfied customer , but with these engine specs, honestly, they might as well NOT LAUNCH this car. As I mentioned earlier, there is nothing remarkable about this car other than its looks- unless Fiat excites the customers with better powerplants.

To the average Joe, who will be buying this car just for showing off its looks, without any intention to explore its off-roading capabilities (not that there are any), an inclinometer means zilch. He'd rather have a touchscreen GPS/Nav system- NOT to use it in particular, but for the "me-too" factor.
Honda had no particular reason to bring in the touchscreen system in its City-but it did. So did Renault, VW and others. People are lamenting the fact that the actual production Mobilio doesnt feature one, while the demo-spec cars did.
I am all for cute novelty, but Fiat needs to realize that it must play the Indian game in India, not some fancy Euro-finesse. Had this been the Jeep Cherokee, I would understand the purpose, it being a true off roader with requisite articulation , approach and departure angles by design.

Will it being Fiat sales,will it cannibalize Punto evo - only time will tell. It will compete against the Polo Cross and Etios Cross which itself is questionable in sales figures.

Too much of body cladding. A beautifully designed ageless design of earlier Punto has already gone on toss with Evo version, and this Avventura might well be a last nail in the coffin!

If people call the Ecosport a hatchback on steriods, then the Avventura is a hatchback with a huge blister on its rear.
But Ecosport really comes across as a Compact SUV, with the aggressive front fascia.
And Fiat is not giving out anything special by way of powerplant or cabin features, save for those silly inclinometers/compass.
The last thing I expect from Fiat is a "me-too" product, which the Avventura really is.

Avventura will come with 2 engine options 1.4 l petrol and the 1.3 MJD, Ground clearence at 205 mm.

In all these pictures I don't see the much hyped projector headlight that fiat teased about earlier. Has that been removed to avoid cost or is it reserved fr a facelift or it comes in the top most variant with all bells and whistles. Not sure what fiat is going to do
