Okay guys Iv been mum for a long time now. Coming to the point, I own a Honda Jazz which I was looking to sell & upgrade to the Ecosport. But after reading all the feedbacks of forum members Im confused as to wether at all this will be an upgrade or not !

My priority is greater FE & better GC which im sure the 1 lt ecoboost will give me for sure. And if I do go for it I will buy the topend model so I will have some extra features than the present Jazz Select.

The problem is when the ES comes to Kolkata I won't be here & will miss it. And there are buyers lining up for the Jazz...what to do?

@Jazzy

Jazz is one awesome car from Honda with tonnes of space inside and with great refinement. I am not really looking into its sales numbers at the moment as the cars seems to be withdrawn. But if you are happy with you car and think that you can keep it for few more years, then there is no need to sell it and buy ES. But if you are bored with your Jazz and want to have a new one then can think of ES, but to be frank

You cannot compare both in terms of space and built quality and refinement as both are different all together. Yes, if Ford price ES well then it is going to be a exciting urban commuter with some killing exterior looks and great dash board area feel.

So decide based on you requirements properly[:)]

+1 for RK, very sensible reply.
If you go through this thread you will find out many people saying that Ecosport may not be as spacious as Jazz. There is one more thread here by TAIan by name 'Ankx' who has specifically test drove Ecosport has said that. So spacing wise you will not see any upgrades. Mileagewise too I don't think you will see upgrade, if you mean better mileage is a upgrade.[roll] Jazz is Honda definitely a better breed than Ford.
But, interiors of Ecosport will definitely look better in terms of gadgets and features. If you are purchasing a new vehicle and deciding between Jazz and Ecosport, I would recommend Ecosport, but your case is bit complex
My advice would be to do a TD and see the Ecosport in flesh and make decision. I think in your case you are bored with your Jazz and want to new ride [;)]

Yes, I can see one more hidden reason in subconscious mind that since Jazz is withdrawn from the market now, so hi is worried of its resale when he want to sell it [;)]

Re: Exclusive! Ford EcoSport Makes Global Premiere (Pre-Launch Coverage: Pg.83)

I am back after some time, thanks to March ending.[roll] Was expecting many pages on ES in a week, but hardly anything. Now here is my case -

As said somewhere on TAI, we purchased Dzire as small car to replace i10, but I faced opposition in selling it (i10) off. Now I made a deal, if I buy something, i10 will need to be sold as there is no parking left as all parking areas has been consumed, though I can encroach upon duct in worse case.[lol] And I hate parking car in open. Since the quota of small car is already over with entry with Dzire, there is not much interest in ES. But finally, the decision will now rest with me.

The adv of ES I see is it can act as substitute for Dzire incase of parking & hence can be used extensively. But then no one liked ES as much as Dzire. One of my friend is waiting for Honda Amaze & already has dropped ES because of mileage issues with his Figo.

I am left with 2 choices, Ford ES or VW Passat. :stupid: (forget price for a moment) I love passat & so do rest & I am sedan lover, so will prefer passat. But I want something which I can take anywhere & be least bothered, be it gym or fruit store. Frankly, it looks odd to take big cars to buy veggies or fruits. I do this job on my CBZ-Xtreme as of now but sometimes need to make 2 trips if goods don't fit in my bag, sometimes I ask shopkeeper to do home delivery. I can't drive Dzire or likes as steering gets stuck in legs, which leaves me only with 2 options - Take bigger car or take bike.

If I can drive ES, I may buy it, if not, it will probably be Passat. I have no much hopes for ES as I wasn't able to drive Storme either. (Sorry for not putting pic of storme vs xuv as I was busy with year ending).

Can anyone give some suggestions on how to proceed ?

Why you have no hopes for ES ? Does the steering of i10 or dezire touch your tighs ? I hope not else why would you have bought it right . Does the i10 and dezire have reach and rake option ? The ES has and I don't find any problem for you .

I can't drive i10 or Dzire, never driven till date. Similarly there are other cars in other cities like Altis, City & Vento, which I can't drive either. It is only for that reach & rake facility, because of which I am going to see ES. But if this fails, then it will be mostly Passat.

Accord, Elantra fluidic, Merc C class & above, BMW 3 series & up. Can't drive Audi A4, but OK with A6. The most comfy Audi in which I have sat till date to drive is Q5.
BTW, I can't drive Renault Fluence either.
Please see my pic in Ferrari spyder in Pics of You thread to get clear idea.

What is your height ? Iam 5"11 and after taking the steering to the top most position it was coming to my somewhat chest level . So iam sure you won't have any problem .

Btw the options are great ES or passat .

Issue is not height but distribution of height. I am 6"2 & length of my trousers is 46.5'. I can sit in coupe without hitting the head but have issues with legroom. You will get proper idea when I post Storme pics.

Yes, it is not the matter of the over height of the person always, the problem is of the lengh % of the legs in total height matters.[:)]

I think you have a different type of a problem here. You have a buyer(s) for Jazz and in a fix whether to sell it now and buy ES as you think that you may not get the price for the Jazz that you are being currently offered since the model has been withdrawn. Well as a fellow Jazz owner this is my take on it.
1) FE wise I think ES 1.0 Lt and Jazz would be quite close. I regularly get better good mileage (14km/lt) in congested traffic in Kolkata where other comparable cars dont give even 12km/lt (daily travel the stretch between Ultadange, Khanna, Hatibagan, Shovabazar -- you get the idea). Highway I have got upto 20km/lt which I think is quite good for a car of this size.
2) ES trumps Jazz on GC - and this is a big point to consider. While city driving is OK, I generally have a feeling in my stomach when I go out to places like Tajpur, Mandarmoni etc. Generally these are the times when you have the car fully loaded which decreases the GC further. Jazz does scrape but you can probably navigate 85% of the roads easily. But ES wins hands down.
3) Somehow feel that Jazz would be more fun to drive than the ES 1.0 lt petrol. 1.6lt petrol or the Diesel would be a different story.
4) Space wise I think Jazz has more space (again from reports in this thread)
5) Gadget wise- ES inches ahead, its a newer car
6) Don't think Jazz warranty or service cost would increase. Two reasons for this. One old Honda City are in good demand and seem to be serviced equally well by Honda and secondly though Jazz seem to be withdrawn, it shares 60% of the parts with the City. The 1.2 lt IVTec engine does duty in the Brio and Amaze. So spare parts would not be a problem either.
So in summary change your car if you have a problem with GC or getting quite a good price for the Jazz, considering that there is no other problem with the car.
I do have a hunch that ES Diesel would sell more than the Petrol and the 1.0 Lt EB engine would not do well in start stop traffic of Indian cities. Don't ask me why but just a hunch.

Re: Exclusive! Ford EcoSport Makes Global Premiere (Pre-Launch Coverage: Pg.83)

chayan,

Agree with you. But if you are petrol oriented, better to buy i20 which has really good peppy petrol engine. ES is good only for diesel. Good part is atleast we know the report of diesel engine as it is already being used in Fiesta, but for 1.0L ecoboost petrol, why become guinea pig ?

And no point in comparing its performance in Brazil as Brazil fuel is different than India, mainly due to ethanol. Honda Amaze has modified diesel engine to suit Indian fuel, don't know about ES ecoboost, so fingers crossed.

BTW, Jazz & Polo are 2 cars which look more beautiful when driven by girl [;)], same can't be said for ES.
