Agree with you. But if you are petrol oriented, better to buy i20 which has really good peppy petrol engine. ES is good only for diesel. Good part is atleast we know the report of diesel engine as it is already being used in Fiesta, but for 1.0L ecoboost petrol, why become guinea pig ?

And no point in comparing its performance in Brazil as Brazil fuel is different than India, mainly due to ethanol. Honda Amaze has modified diesel engine to suit Indian fuel, don't know about ES ecoboost, so fingers crossed.

BTW, Jazz & Polo are 2 cars which look more beautiful when driven by girl [;)], same can't be said for ES.

Boss the ecoboost engine is already in use in uk and USA the same which will be used here and it has got great reviews .
Beside that i20 gives very less mileage .
Which car suits whom is matter of personal taste and choice , I have seen extremely beautiful looking girls driving Scorpio and they look cool .
Go on any Brazilian website and see the girls there driving ES you will know what I mean . Infact ES is primarily more hit in brazil with girls .

Me talking about the kappa engine. And I don't think there will be big difference between ES & i20 FE. The aerodynamics are heavily in favor of i20. Need to see Cd of both to make proper comparo.

Are you sure it was scorp ? Sometimes, you forget the car after seeing the driver !
And thats dangerous. Seeing the way women drive in India, they should be banned driving such vehicles. One girl almost hit me with her Captiva when I was on my CBZ bike. [anger]

Oh, is ES so girly ? [embarass] If so, I will cancel idea of buying it.

BTW, ES has competition now from VW Tiagun. But it won't be launched before 2014 though. Seems in 2014, we may have Taigun as well as Mahindra mini-XUV.

Your comments on ES made me [lol], If I say it is so rugged and well suited for men, then you say no no I want a soft looking one where a beautiful girl should look cute driving it, if I say most of the ES in Brazil are driven by girls, then you say no no I do not want a car which is more girlish [lol], finally it looks me that you never wanted ES either the case it be and more towards VW either passat or Taigun[lol]

Does anyone have any kind of update on launch dates?
This wait is killing all the buzz as evident from lack of updates here.

Also is anyone switching to amaze from ecosport? I have been double minded for a long time and amaze is already launched while we have no news on ecosport.

There is no updates from Ford, and nothing new on their website. Nothing from their online Chat. So that's why there is no activity here.

Yes in my case I don't have to buy a car immediately. But there is planning involved and your mindset to be set first. Its not possible since there is nothing specific so far. Ford seems to be interested (wishing) that prospective buyer are busy in so called 'Discover my city', while Honda Amaze quietly launched and by the time Ecosport come in to market some shares will be eaten up by Amaze for sure. Since I am interested in petrol I am just waiting till new facelifted Honda City is out. Who knows by then Nissan Duster might also be in the picture. Also the Fiesta (Major) Facelift has been launched in China, so waiting till the end might produce many alternatives. I am thinking that till Ecosport is launched Fiesta Facelift wont be launched.

Whatever it is there is some major issue ford is facing which is causing the delay. They know that there are loosing customers each day passing by and they are not able to do anything for some reason. [frustration]

^^ Those wanting high FE diesel mill, will surely opt for Amaze over ES. Amaze despite being nothcback, will give competition to ES on 2 fronts -

1. It's Honda,
2. The idtec of Honda has better reviews than 1.5 duratorq of Ford.

Not to forget the peace of mind, which is better in Honda than FOrd.

Honda is new to Diesel it will be llike the ecoboost engine for ford idtec diesel is new and the idtec engine comes good in reviews like ecobost
but we have to wait and see how many guiena pig are there to buy a new to market yet to proven diesel mill from honda

If priced right (same or slightly lower than the Dzire), I guess there would be lots of guinea pigs lining up.
It has lot of features which separate it from the crowd -
a) Mileage (25km/lt)
b) 400 lt boot
c) Honda reliability

I think all players will take a hit, Maruti may be to a lesser extent, but Toyota Liva, GM Sail would be badly affected. Even some full size entry level sedans.

ES on the other hand would have a different crowd and it has something that Amaze does not - GC and if you travel the country side you will know how important GC can be.

People have their eyes wide open :eek: when they are seeing 25.8 KMPL from 1.5 lite engine and that also from Honda. And this reactions are from the general people.

Honda Amaze vs Ford Ecosport comparison isn’t justified at first place. Both the cars are meant for different purposes and have their own set of pros and cons. Anyways; what I can confirm is that Ford is conducting Ecosport media drive soon. Of course, The Automotive India is going to be a part of it too. :smile:
