Now that there is news that Chevy may look at a Diwali launch - is this expected to replace Tavera? I have not understood what is the basic segment differentiator between the 2 models

No buddy this van doesn't replace the Tavera, because you have the Tavera Neo 3 which was launched earlier and this Van first comes with a petrol engine.

I highly doubt that, more so because the new Tavera was JUST launched, also keep in mind the cabin space in both the vehicles is no where similar.

Enjoy must be for private use, tavera for cab.

Exactly what I feel too! That American concept of road trips, RVs and UVs for hauling all the luggage, cargo, an occasional boat or trailer is already hitting India. I don't see an immediate market for such UVs but they should have some prominent space in the Indian Auto sector in a while which won't be limiting to just taxi use.

Could you share if you mean that Enjoy is a premium product compared to Tavera? Also is Enjoy expected to have better internal space than Tavera?

As far as cabin space goes, Tavera wins, there is absolutely no doubt about that. Like I have mentioned a few weeks back, Enjoy is more like an Ertiga, it does provide three rows of seating but cargo space is at a premium. Only if you fold down the third bench would you able to use the cargo space.

The demonstration model of the Enjoy I saw was bland as far as interiors are concerned. I don't say Enjoy is premium when compared to Tavera, it although targets the cab/taxi segment but private users might give it a thought too while buying a UV.

I would also like to mention again, that Chevy might come up with some spanky interior and dash theme for the Enjoy if at all they go by the reviews (of the reviewers at the demonstration of which I was a part).

Chevrolet commences Enjoy MPV production

General Motors India has begun regular production of the petrol Chevrolet Enjoy MPV at its Halol manufacturing facility. The car is slated for launch in the first quarter of this year.

The petrol engine will be a 94.6bhp, 1.4-litre unit and the diesel motor will be an evolution of the 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced Multijet engine. This version is likely to use a fixed-geometry turbocharger (FGT) and will be rear-wheel driven.

The Enjoy will be more spacious than the Maruti Ertiga; it will offer a lot more storage space as well, since the second- and third-row seats of the seven-seater can be folded flat or removed altogether. GM India is targeting a price similar to the Ertiga’s, so there should be pretty tough competition in the MPV segment once it is launched. The Ertiga sells about 5,000 units a month and is a major success in its category.

The Enjoy, which marks an important role in GM India’s product roadmap, is actually a Chevrolet-badged Wuling CN-100, part of GM-SAIC’s Chinese portfolio. Other products from the GM-SAIC stable are the Sail hatchback and the recently launched Sail saloon.

Chevrolet is also expanding its dealer and service network in the country to support new car sales from the current 285 sales points, 278 service outlets and 75 used car outlets in 55 cities

Spotted a disguised Enjoy near AIIMS. It suddenly appeared out of nowhere in the traffic. The car looks quite compact and not as big as I expected.

It won't come under 4 meters definitely, Evalia has better visibility all round except for the rear.
