Chevrolet to launch Enjoy MPV on May 9

The Enjoy is Chevrolet’s first offering in the MPV segment in India. The car will be available in both petrol and diesel guise. The diesel engine is a 1.3-litre unit that puts out 76bhp and 19.17kgm of torque, while the 1.4-litre petrol puts out 103bhp and 13.25kgm of torque. Both units will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The interiors are spacious and comfortable and the top-end variants of the Enjoy will be sold with captain seats in the middle row which don’t flip forward. There is no word on pricing yet, but we expect the Enjoy to undercut its main rival, the Ertiga, by a generous margin. Expect prices to range from Rs 5.6 lakh to Rs 8.4 lakh (ex-showroom).

Chevrolet Enjoy demo cars reach dealerships

The Chevrolet Enjoy, the newest contender in the compact MPV market, is just a few days away from its launch.

The seven seat MPV will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. A 1.4 litre petrol motor develops 103 bhp while the popular 1.3 litre diesel engine (Fiat MultiJet) puts out 76 bhp. The Ertiga also uses the same engine but with a VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) to generate 88.8 bhp.

Both the petrol and diesel motors will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. In spite of sharing its diesel engine with the Ertiga, the enjoy is a rear wheel driven vehicle with the engine mounted longitudinally.

The Enjoy is expected to start a price war against the Maruti Ertiga and undercut MPVs like the Toyota Innova and the Mahindra Xylo while offering more third row space than any of its rivals. Chevrolet’s three years free maintenance plan (Chevrolet Promise) will add more appeal to the overall package.

The Enjoy will be the third launch in quick succession for GM India. While the Sail U-VA failed to live up to the expectations, its sedan version is doing reasonably good. GM India would be hoping that the Enjoy would bring in the much needed volumes.

Thanks Gurralla, i'm eagerly waiting for the prices to be released than the car itself, if it doesn't suit my budget then Quanto C4 is the only way to go.

Any hard guesses for the base variant (diesel) price?

@Vishwas

Quanto [surprise], better go for the base variant of Xylo.

I guess the base diesel variant of Enjoy would be around 7 to 7.5 L ex showroom

Spied – Chevrolet Enjoy demo vehicle caught in Bengalore

The Chevrolet Enjoy has already started reaching the showrooms as the car is set to be launched on Thursday.

Here, we present you what we believe to be the last set of spyshots of the MPV, along with its technical specifications. The demo car was spotted in Bengalore.

As we know, the seven seat MPV will be available with a choice of a petrol and a diesel engine. The 1.4 litre petrol motor develops 104PS and 131 Nm of torque. The petrol variant weights at 1,260kg.

The diesel engine is the familiar 1.3 litre motor (Fiat’s MultiJet) which is good enough for 77.5 PS and 188 Nm of torque. The MPV with oil burner tips the scale at 1,345 kg. Both the engines are longitudinally mounted and drive the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Enjoy sits on 14″ wheels (alloys in higher end variants) which are shod with 170/70 section tires. The ground clearance of the petrol variant stands at 165mm compared to diesel variant’s 161mm. Both the variants carry a 50L fuel tank.

The Enjoy measures 4,305mm in length, 1,750mm in height, 1,680mm in width and 2,720mm in wheelbase. The car is slightly longer than the Ertiga (4,265mm) but the wheelbase is 10mm shorter than its main rival.

GM India is expected to price the Enjoy to undercut the Ertiga, but we will know for sure on May 9th.

Re: Exclusive! First Look at Upcoming Chevrolet Enjoy – Page.3

I have seen this car in flesh and though it looks overall good but when you look at wheel then it seems to be very odd. It can be semi hit only if it's priced at least 1 to 1.5 lakh below Ertiga. The middle row has captain seats, I am not sure if it's being gonna liked by Indian family who always try to accommodate extra person.but last row is really spacious.
GM should have done homework very well as this product has been launched against Ertiga.

But anyways Indian customer will have more option. I feel that Enjoy will be lost in no time as Evallia.

I saw this vehicle in Richmond circle yesterday afternoon, it is narrow but lengthy and i did not get time to see the whole vehicle as it already passed the signal.

If possible will check out the car today.

True that there won't be many takers for it, but Evalia has a different situation where it is priced high and too much for asking.

Enjoy on the other hand is said to come cheaper, so it might work for the taxi-segment i feel.

I feel that Enjoy would do the same to it's sibling Tavera what Innova did to Qualis. Either of the two will prevail.

Re: Exclusive! First Look at Upcoming Chevrolet Enjoy – Page.3

Phew! had a field day at office and i got a chance to take a Short TD of this much awaited Enjoy(at-least for me). It was a 10 mins of TD where i drove, sat in all the seats and checked out most of the important things.Below are my observations:

There are three models being offered in Chevrolet Enjoy:
LS; LT; LTZ.

The Good:
1) This MPV is all about space and flexibility inside.
2) Better Ground Clearance(not best) and easy to get in/out especially for seniors who looks for the steps there usually in these kind of vehicles. It's just like Tall boy hatches which i liked)
3) looks and feels modern but not really exciting on the exteriors.
4) Features offered in the base model is good (LS being base which carries A/C(with roof-top vents, P.S, All 4 power-windows, Body colored Bumpers,Tachometer)read Value quotient.
5) Makes a decent approach in the road presence department.
6) Front view has a commanding position where even short people gets a good view and GM should be well appreciated in this part.
8) Maneuverability in the city is decent except to look at the rear as it is over 4 meters in length.
9) Steering is absolutely nice to hold and move around where it also tells that handling is some sort of good for me at-least.
10) Pricing seems to be mouth-watering and more appealing to the fleet operators and people normally with a big family.
11) Turbo-lag was not felt at low speeds, but don't know how it really performs in the highways.

The Bad:

1) A/C is ineffective and takes a lot of time to cool the cabin, however the humidity is not observed when a/c is switched on.

2) The roof top a/c vents though has 3 speed adjustable button, it was not something which was desired and might worry some people who are in hot temperature region.

3) Build looks flimsy(some Chinese DNA i suppose) for the on-lookers IMO.

4) Features offered in Top-End variant doesn't feel good or dissatisfying to spend good 10 lakhs and in this case i feel Ertiga is worth going for if concerned in this department.

The Ugly(please note the points mentioned below is not really serious for consideration, rather commenting on my observation)

1) Plastics are somewhat not to many people's taste and does feel like a let down for people (a prospective buyer came with us for a TD and commented that its not expected for a 8+ Lakh vehicle). Not promising either.

2) Finishing on the interiors would have come more tight to make it look perfect.

3) Offering Single Din HU which has USB and Aux Port(only in top-end trim) is not ideal but it is justified for the price offering.

4) Engine is just adequate and has mediocre performance, so don't expect it to jump from its place.

5) Company claims the mileage of 18kmpl where in the real world it could come to 15 or so, but its competitor Ertiga has an hand over Enjoy.

6) The A.S.S part is yet to be ascertained and a skeptical thought for many new buyers for chevy.

7) There is less thigh support in the 3rd row which is best suited for short people and kids, but not really a thing to complain.

This is all friends, Now the last part is the pricing where it would be known in the later part of this day and when the SE said it will be in 8-10 lakhs range, i felt it is good.

In comparison, i must say it is slightly better than the Evalia and not better than Ertiga where the latter is still a better buy for individuals.
