Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

Nice pics Singh.

2 Questions?

  1. In one of the pic, I can see two lights on ORVM. One is surely for left/right turn indicator. What is other one for?

  1. Thanks buddy and those other lights under the ORVM's turn on when you open the door or unlock the car, provides good visibility during night.

[*]I have seen many XUVs with the alloy of the type given here. Have MnM stopped providing those alloys? Those alloys look so nice. Samurai Alloys I call them. [:D]
Those alloys are not stock alloys I guess, not sure though.
I think you pay extra for those.

I am damn sure I have seen those alloys on many XUVs in Mumbai. That is the reason I searched for it and am still confused, if it was OEM alloys then why did they stop providing it. [confused]

Those alloys personally are not to my liking. I would prefer some thig like shown in picture taken from web.It goes well with the white shade of the vehicle. You may need regular cleaning though.Even what Draco has currently looks well suited for me.

No buddy, those look like aftermarket alloys for sure. I guess the design might have become popular, thats it.

As Singhji said it provides visibility at night when you open the doors , also called puddle lamps.

Regarding those alloys those were given as an option by Mahindra for W6 customers wanting to exchange to alloys, the alloys had some wobble issue, not sure if that is resolved though, my advice is to stay away from it and go for some other aftermarket.

So were they really OE alloys[surprise]. I believe those are one of the best looking alloys.

BTW Singh sahab, why is the Handbrake handle looking tilted? Is it same with all XUVs?

Thanks for clearing it further IR buddy, i was not able to recall the name of those lamps[frustration]

And yes the Stock alloys that comes with W8 are pretty cool and i have no plans of changing them.

First of all Congrats Singh!! It is indeed nice write up. I personally enjoyed everybit of your words on XUV.

My dad has booked one for him which is getting delivered on 12-12-12. Initially we booked silver color and when we visited the showroom again for some papers to the bank we found that the white color has the unique interiors (beig color interiors) which is way far better than other the black color. Dad and I fell for the interiors and both of us changed our mind and immediately changed our booking to white. For which the showroom representative agreed and asked us to give a letter on change of color.

Only white has this unique beig color interiors while other have black and plum mixed. The interiors look just mesmerising and gives a look of a premium segment car!! But dont understand the Mahindra's logic of giving it only to white [frustration].

I had initally planned to give a detailed write up on XUV. Since you have already started about the experience on your DRACO (I like this name) now I changed my mind to write on the Volvo S60 (D3) which is to be delivered shortly for my BIL.

Cheers,
- Ash...

DRACO is doing good IR buddy[:)].

So far my parents have made only one trip and the ODO stands at 337 kms. When we took delivery the ODO had 50 Kms because a day before delivery dealer brought our car from their Gurgaon branch. And rest 280 kms piled up from the the trip.

50% of the road was really good whereas remaining was literally full of pot holes and at places the road was really narrow and dad had to literally take the car off the road when a big and over loaded sugarcane trucks came from the other side.

Now talking about the drive, there were no squeaks, rattling or any kind of sound. brakes were working perfectly fine and no kind of grinding noise. I mean they my dad literally had nothing bad or i would say no issues to report.

The only thing which was not working was the GPS but that might be because my brother might be operating it in a wrong way, or it might be a glitch also but when they reach home and he tried operating it it was working fine.

So i will say as of now NO issues to be reported.

DRACO will be making one more trip to Faridabad and back soon probably next week or the following week. (Around 350-370 Kms).

Will update accordingly.

We need to upgrade our Infotainment system to 4.4 for using that app. The app looks really cool. But right now we don't have any android device (phone) in our family. They all iPhone or BB. Well i'll bring one with me when i come to India.

Also can you tell me what version of android should the device have?

Congratulations buddy[clap] and what a selection of date for taking delivery. That's pretty cool.

And yes white and black color have their own charm. Personally i like the XUV in white or black more comparing to other colors.

Congrats again for the S60 VOLVO is known for it's safety.
Still do pen down your initial experiences of XUV and will be waiting for your S60 review.

BTW: That's a great way of saying goodbye to this year and starting a new one, taking delivery of 2 cars. [:)]

^^ Err small correction, the interior tone you are talking of is available in both white and black, others have plum/black mix.

Thanks for the correction IR buddy. I thought that color was only for White.

They should give an option to the customers to choose the color they like, the way it's done here in US. Which is a pretty cool stuff. I mean you can literally choose any interior color available for that model in leather as well cloth.

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

Well it's time for first upgrade for DRACO and that will be the Audio system upgrade for our Dragon.

Requirements:
1. Head Unit will remain the same.
2. Don't want to put a bass tube.
3. Will be changing the speakers only, probably will go with a component system and an AMP.

Now just a quick question for the XUV owners and other members as well, If i am not wrong "XUV comes with a Kenwood HU", right?
