Unless you go off-road often, they should suffice. Do check out some options for XUV for reference. You may call local dealers for deals/offers.

Is there Geolanders available for the XUV specifications/size ?
Thanks for the link and it shows a good deal for appolo tires. Set of 4 for Rs 36000/-

I know one thing for sure that it will definitely reduce the tire noise [:D]

Well i am still looking for other options. Which one do you suggest bro.?
If money no bar and tyre noise reduction is a big factor go for Michelin(same as one Manoj suggested) - i wouldnt even bother suggesting AT tyres to you as you wouldnt be going off tarmac in a XUV.

If longevity is desired, i would recommend stock bridgestone. JK is no comparison to the stock bridgestone, i have personally seen atleast 4 XUVs which have done a lakh kms on stock bridgestone. Thats staggering by any comparison, not that grip and noise would be great all through the usage, but in terms of hardiness/longevity this is as good as it gets.

I hear Yoko started producing in India and since then they have adapted to stronger tire wall - but i have no data yet, we will all know better in an years time [:D]

I'll never buy michellins in my life. horrible tyres and too many puncures . very poor grip. very easy to get cuts. poor tead life. I upgraded to yokos and never looked back.

don't think about dedicated offroading for AT tyres.
Indian roads and conditions are like offroading daily.

Personally I am waiting for my JKs to give way so that I can upgradde to Yoko Geolander ATs in a 255 profile, but in the past 2 years adn 35000km of ownership the JKs havent even shown a sign of wear and tear so I am assuming they should be good enough for the next 40000km.

same here.
thunderbolt is at 40k kms and tyres are looking actually good. I suppose they'll do about 60-80k kms in total. that's a very good figure. actually I won't hesitate to go for the same shoes again. otherwise I'll also. think about yoko AT S.

Which one are the best AT anyays?

Secondly, actually my XUV has done a lot of off tarmac drive as well.

+1 for bridgestone.

Personally i feel michellins are good for sedans and hatchbacks only. Never usually saw those on a SUV back in US as well. (My personal opinion).

I think i might look into bridgestone, apollo and yokohama.

Until 40K my tires used to look good but after that all of a sudden they started showing lot of wear and tear signs. Like getting plain from the sides and lot of cracks.

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV500 W8: Ownership Review (60,000 Kms Achieved)

Guys i am having a bit of a trouble with DRACO's air conditioner.
- When the car is parked under the sun and when i get in and drive the AC works really low, i mean cooling is not good. Barely throws cold air.
- Even after driving for a while it does not cool good. Tried various temperature settings but same result.
- If i stop at a redlight the cooling goes down.
- Cooling will increase and decrease by its own while driving during the day.
- Now driving in night it works well and cools the cabin really good.

Also sometimes ""Hiiisssss"" kind of noise can be heard from the ac vents.

1. So is my cooling gas low ?
2. Or there is a leak somewhere which lets the gas out?

Singh890, firstly congrats on hitting the milestone of 60K kms.

Get it checked by some independent AC mechanic and not by ASS as they will loot you by mentioning some other parts that need replacement when it will be a simple fix.

Thanks buddy.

Although i have to visit the ASS for the 60K service anyways. And DRACO is still under warranty, so if anything needs to replaced it should be under warranty.

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV500 W8: Ownership Review (60,000 Kms Achieved)

Dropped the Car at Dealership today for the 60K service and the Ac issue.

Told the RM about the AC issue,He said they will check and rectify it. And that it will be covered under warranty.

Will get the car back tomorrow afternoon because of the AC issue. They will fill nitrogen and leave the car overnight and check the pressure tomorrow.

Expected Bill is around 10k for the service. Includes oil change and all filter changes.

Got my car back from the service center as promised by the RM and the total bill was Rs. 10,220/-.

Also they changed the Cooling coil which was the culprit for the AC not working properly. And it was changed under warranty. I am Attaching the bill for all the details of the service.

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV500 W8: Ownership Review (60,000 Kms Achieved)

Well DRACO has completed 67K kms in 32 months and standing at 67005 Kms to be more precise. So I thought of putting up a long term ownership report. Collected all memories, put my laziness in drawer and started typing in MS Word. I do that always then I go through a spell check and grammar check and then I post it here.

Engine/Drivability: Honestly speaking it’s been a great pleasure driving this beast. The way this beast behaves on highways at high speeds and the maneuverability it shows while changing lanes may it be slow or high speeds, is just awesome. The pleasure of driving this beast just grows on you slowly. The 2.2L M-hawk engine pumping out 140 horses of power and 330 NM of torque provides really good performance and the pickup is what I love about this beast. Get used to the gear change pattern and you will get connected to the beast.
I have driven DRACO extensively on highways and good amount of 65000 kms was spent on roads without tarmac, potholes. Roads which are marked as NH but gives you a proper feeling as if you registered for an off-roading event. This also includes quite a number of trips to Ramnagar (Jim Corbett Park), one of my close friend has a resort there. And you have to literally go inside the forest for about 5-6 kms and there is no road. They just use the JCV to clear the path with dense trees and bushes on both the sides. Once you go past that you have to cross 2 rivers (one small and one big). So DRACO has been there like 10-15 times and took the beating very well. You may jump into a herd of elephants or even a tiger on that route. In both the cases just maintain distance and wait. Anyone interested let me know, will send you the details through pm.

Brakes: Since the cheetah comes equipped with all disc brakes, ABS, EBD and ESP. Braking is just perfect for this size of a vehicle. I have had few close calls and every time I was really satisfied with the braking performance of this beast. But talking about the brake pads, I got my brake pads changed under warranty around 5000 kms under recall and then at 48365 kms which means they lasted for 43365 kms but I have already started getting screeching noise when I apply brakes and it looks like they might need replacement. The ODO is 65850 kms which means the new brake pads have done only 17485 kms and my driving style has not changed either. So is it the quality of brakes or is it normal?

Ride Quality: This is one point which has both the aspects good and bad. The stiffer suspension results in stable ride, less body roll and makes lane changing piece of cake at both high and slow speeds. But when you go over a pothole you can feel the undulations and the jerks. But other than this I have no issues with the suspension. It looks like they have tweaked the suspension in the new XUV according to the reviews.
Design/Space/Comfort: I like the overall design of the car and the interior design is also very well laid out. But there is definitely scope for improvement in the interior quality such as the dashboard. The dashboard has started showing signs of usage from one or two places. Also the silver lining on the hand rest has the silver paint peeling. Same thing goes for the grab handle on the driver side door, besides that nothing else to complain. All the buttons on the steering and the middle console are easy to reach and all the features given are really convenient especially the phone and audio controls on the steering. Hill Hold and descent are very helpful and used them couple of times on my trip to Mt Abu, Kambalgarh fort , Mussoorie etc.
Talking about space this beast has that in abundance except for the boot space with the last row up. Otherwise the legroom is more than sufficient in the first two rows which makes long drives less tiring as you have ample of space to stretch your legs. Last row in my case is mostly down so I can’t complain more about the luggage space. Cubby holes in all the doors and in the back make it convenient for holding water bottles or your favorite drink during a trip. You can put small stuff or polly bags under the second and third row. Seats are pretty much comfortable as well. The reclining feature of the second row seats is a plus point for the rear passengers during a long drive.

FE: I usually get around 15-16 KMPL on highways (MID has even displayed 18 Kmpl quite a few times on long trips but I guess that’s definitely a bug showing such figures for this size of a vehicle). And in city I get around 12-13.5 Kmpl (includes bumper to bumper traffic). Overall I am happy with the FE figures since these figures are with 100% AC.

Niggles: So far no major niggles have been faced. But I did get my brake pads changed under warranty and recall when the ODO was around 5000 km. Besides that small niggles like “char char” noise from the doors, the top (plastic part) on the speedometer started making noise once when driven over potholes, seats making similar kind of noise over potholes. But a quick visit to service station takes care of it.
Changes: Silver box has been changed once under warranty was acting weird and used to take a long time to start the navigation and it would just power off the HU with a loud sound and then come back again.

Tires: Got the tires changed recently, I had JK Elanzo as my car is from earlier batch (Nov 12). But I actually got JK’s again since my spare tire was almost new as it was never used so far. So I only bought 3 tires for Rs. 23700/- with alignment. On the other hand if I would have gone for any other brand I had to buy 4 and nothing was less than 11500/- per piece. So in that case I would have to shed out approx 45000/-. My original tires lasted 64K kms.

Brake Pads change:
Front pads were changed at 48365 km @ Rs 5032 /-.
Rear pads were changed at 50000 km @ Rs 4700/-

Service Bills:
1st Service - 5000 kms @ Rs 2820/-
2nd Service – 10000 Kms @ Rs 2225/-
3rd Service – 20000 Kms @ Rs 5759/-
4th Service – 30250 Kms @ Rs 8993/-
5th Service – 40000 kms @ (Can’t get the bill, but I guess it was approx Rs 7000)
6th Service – 50000 kms @ Rs 12900 /- (Including Rear Brake Pads)
7th Service – 60000 kms @ Rs 10220/-

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV500 W8: Ownership Review (60,000 Kms Achieved)

thanks for the long term. update and congrats on 60k kms of journey.

1. brake life appears poor. my thunderbolt required front brake change at 35k kms. it's at 42k kms, rear brakes are still factory.

2. they couldn't solve my silver box issue despite changing it thrice. still living with it.

3. my usual fe is 12.5 to 13 max. your Fe figures are inspiring.

My first set stayed longer, almost 43K kms. Don't know what's wrong with these sets.

Tell them to get a new one from Nippon. Usually they get refurbished ones. Make sure they give you a new one.
