Re: Upcoming Commercial Vehicles in India

Guys, anybody spotted even a single 'Tata Divo' till date? I am yet to spot one. In fact, is it even launched?
SRS Travels used to run a pair of first generation Divos between Chennai and Bangalore. It was a freezer rattletrap on wheels. Haven't seen those buses recently.

Thanks for the info, but how come Mahindra is affected in this particular segment? AFAIK i don't spot much of LCV's or medium range Mahindra's as much as i do from Tata.
ICVs and LCVs from Eicher and Mahindra sell like hot cakes here in Kerala. Most of the tippers found here are from these two. And this is where BB has made a mark now.

These Volvos are not fuel efficient, they give somewhere around 1/2 kmpl in cities, yet bmtc's making huge bucks by providing these services to corporate heads(as employee's shuttle) and for airport
BMTC was last heard cribbing about losses made by the Vajra (Volvo) services. I hope with the latest fare hike they were able to even out.

also these are the ones which annoys everybody in Bangalore roads, they sneak up behind us and honk which is a very unpleasant situation, as a measure the government has requested Volvo group to lower down the bhp of these buses in the next set of order.
I seriously doubt Volvo would dilute their product by reducing the power output. I agree that these Volvos sneak up right behind your bumper/rear mudguard and honk the living daylights off.

While here in Karnataka AL wins. We are yet to see BB tippers in our state.

That is the reason the corporates have rented the Volvos, i agree they make losses in the public transportation side.

Read this in DH 4 months ago, but anyway its a good idea to bring down the power output or install speed governors.

I am doubtful if Volvo will lower down the BHP of buses, in fact the drivers are needed to be trained for the said issue instead of reworking the sweet and innocent engines of buses. Even marcopolo or Tata or AL drivers also do that at times. BTW, I have seen Volvo drivers driving in tight city traffic with one hand on wheel and phone on ear and still bus accelerating hard whenever they get a stretch with less traffic.

Here in Kerala, KSRTC using some of the Volvo city buses to intercity service. Around 300km and more oneside trips, still people sits comfortably on that less cushioned seat.

Here in Kochin, These volvo city buses has heavy rush on peak times and driver and conducter struggles to close the doors. Sometimes i feel that these buses are really struggling to move on inclines and uphill. Any way they gets etter collection on this route.
