Re: Upcoming Commercial Vehicles in India

There were some in Kerala too, called road train or so.
Yes. KSRTC used to run such a Trailer-Bus service from Tvm to Palakkad/Kozhikkode in the 80s, IIRC. Though I haven't ever seen it in action, some of my relatives (avid automobile enthusiasts of their time) had told me about it. Since it was rather extremely difficult to maneuver through traffic and narrow roads, it was decommissioned soon.

I had tried to find pictures through the KSRTC Blog FB page and also other forums, but nobody seems to have any.

Spotted this Tata truck on NH4, Mumbai-Bangalore highway. As people were sitting in rear, took one image by ORVM/wing mirrors.

Nice find, i think they would be replacing the genration old 709 series looking at the body size, anyway they have some Diamler or MB DNA from the front.

The vehicle was just show-cased in auto-expo, so they might be road testing the product now. But Dicor engine making its way is really a welcoming move and being a tata, expect it to carry VFM badge along.[:)]

Bharat Benz has already captured the market in medium range commercial vehicles segment, soon Tata and AL will face the heat from it. Also the product offered in this segment is worthy going for.

Bharat Benz is offering heavy discounts now, and hence the surge in their numbers. The CV market is down, which is evident from the sales figures.

More than AL and TM, it's VECV and Mahindra that're facing the heat from BB now, as most of their products seen in large numbers are ICVs where Mahindra and Eicher get most of their sales.

Guys, anybody spotted even a single 'Tata Divo' till date? I am yet to spot one. In fact, is it even launched?

The nos are not a problem for Tata motors, since they have presence in every segment.
What will be lacking is the margins. Say 10000 is the monthly sales of M&HCV. Tata's were selling say 7000 per month. But now BB is doing 1000-1500 nos which is primarily deducted from TML sales. That's the real problem..!! [cry]

Thanks for the info, but how come Mahindra is affected in this particular segment? AFAIK i don't spot much of LCV's or medium range Mahindra's as much as i do from Tata.

Re: Upcoming Commercial Vehicles in India

Have been to Bangalore for four days from 25th to 28th for some work. I was really moved by seeing the number of Volvo city buses plying on the roads and even more amazed I was to see the public transport. It seems far more efficient and better than that in Delhi.
3 days I passed roaming around in an Indigo(Taxi driver Mr. Anil was very co-operative and humble person) and fourth day I spent travelling in Volvo city buses with a daily pass which I guess costed me around 125 Rs. The buses have got fantastic acceleration and same is with dynamics also. The drivers at times push them quite quick. Above all - I was amazed to see the way lady conductor in one of the bus was very comfy in her work and people were very much co-operative. This is something i can't even think of in Delhi, in fact leave Delhi..in most of the north India.

These Volvos are not fuel efficient, they give somewhere around 1/2 kmpl in cities, yet bmtc's making huge bucks by providing these services to corporate heads(as employee's shuttle) and for airport, also these are the ones which annoys everybody in Bangalore roads, they sneak up behind us and honk which is a very unpleasant situation, as a measure the government has requested Volvo group to lower down the bhp of these buses in the next set of order.

Re: Upcoming Commercial Vehicles in India

I am surprised to hear that from Vipul,

@Vipul, are you sure the public transport system in Bengaluru is efficient (not fuel mileage)? I consider Bengalurus public transport system as horrible.
I would stand by you when you say its better than Delhi, Delhi is pathetic. BUT nothing comes close to Chandigarh or Mumbai I guess.
