Hey, Nice to know an Ertigan from Mulund. Most Pumps in Mulund have honest operators! Bhandup pump has a few iffy characters! BUT NEVER FILL At the HPCL Pump in Ghatkopar before Shreyas(next to Spectra Motors)! Sureshot ripoff, Its a tag team! I had the guy refund me 400 bucks!! Can you beat that? And he apologized for me to not complain abt the other guy! I was in a hurry so i didnt, but now i feel i shud've!! They stand in front of the meter after the earlier guy has filled and ask for Card/Payback etc. but dont reset the meter!!
Also, pls let me know if you've installed the HU that is available on ShopClues??

hehe,i am from bhandup,i regularly fill up petrol at
1)HP near R-city ghatkoper next to accenture entrance,near the signal
2)BP near at dadar shivaji park.
i dont fill petrol else where in mumbai unless necessary.
I have not installed HU,since i got strict No No from my dad .i am to satisfied with my zxi system,way to good.Just thinking of dampning done on the door.

Oops,i have goofed up with name,then it might be IOC for sure,i can say genuine one,its next to parksite road,opposite to ccd near godrej gate.
And the mulund incident happened at near sonapur,it cng filling pump to.
Chembur incident happened next to spectra motor chembur,swastik chambers.

Yup, Happned again at HP opposite shreyas, next to Spectra Motors, this time he asked how many poinhts i had on my payback! I just asked him to shut up and do his Job, and not try these tricks, The tag team guy(cashier) again apologized on his behalf!
Someday these guys are going to have it from me!

by the way im very thankful for all of you who shared your experience it has helped me a lot to be more responsive and careful.
many a times i have faced similar situations i still remember where a indian oil bunk near my home, when ever i go there to fill fuel a bunch of 2-3 guys surround me some how to distract me while filling fuel the best way i get rid of getting cheated,is i strongly tell them to set the meter to zero and also lock the petrol gun .

guy pls tell me if any one has noticed the three levels of lock in the petrol gun which is used to lock the gun so that it runs on its own and releases itself once its job is done ???? can some one throw some light on this ???

Can trust HP to some extent in Bangalore.
+100 to Vishwas. While comparing with HP, I think IO gives less FE. at-least for me in LPG.
Very true. in comparison to IO HP BP and Shell, IO is the worse.
I guess their recruitment process says
- Must be well verse with customer distractions process
- Should be aware how to fill the fuel without locking the gun
- Should have experience in dealing with tough customers while trying to cheat the fills
- Experience on how to fill less against the money paid.

A new petrol pump owner told me there are two wheeler customers who ask the nozzle to be raised so they can see the fuel being poured into the tank.
With cars you cannot do this cos of fill in angle.
There is a pump on Banerghatta ring road near Delmia signal(opp Cuppa) on Bangalore.
That pump had similar issues with only half the stated fuel being dispensed .

allow me to share a couple of experiences i rmember (obviously the bitter ones
1. BP pump in hoody, bangalore -- always avoided it, but that day i had to.. i asked to fill up of 1000. he filled up 400 and stopped. I said, boss 1000 bola tha, he went up to 600 and stopped. I just looked at him and smiled. he understood that I know his trick, and silently filled up till 1000. But the ordeal disnt end there. After that whenever car was going in 5th gear or >50kmph (approx), i could hear knocking from engine, the acceleration was slow, so stopped at the first good mechanic, and he told that the petrol was not pure and is adulterated, so I had to drain of the petrol and fill again
2. was going to mysore with a friend and his family. had planned to fill it up at shell pump on mysore road. But since that was closed, stopped by IOC bunk ahead. The kid of my friend was not feeling well, so we were looking at him, when the service attendant claimed to have filled up. This happened in a couple of moments. I was not sure as I had calculated it would gulp in 25 litres, and that much cannot go in few seconds. So I asked him to verify it, but he had by then already reset the pump to 0. So while my friend was attending to his kid, I parked my car nearby with engine on, letting the fuel gauge re-calibrate. To my astonishment, the gauge somewhere near the half way mark. When I showed that to the service assistant, he started a quarrel with me claiming my fuel gauge is faulty. At this time other motorists had also joined in to see what the commotion was about. Finally I asked him to try filling more, and if my gauge is faulty and the tank is indeed full, petrol will overflow and i will pay for that extra. But if the tank still gulps more and more, then boss you are at fault and accept it. To this suggestion he started abusing me in kannada, with some localites standing up for him. But then there was a long line of vehicles behind, and the pump manager asked him to fill the tank. No questions asked further and it was done. Since first reading was reset to 0 unethically my attendant, i paid only for 25 litres which I think was empty, and drove off with a promise to never go back there again.

You did a very good thing. Such situations, we should never panic or pick a fight. Rather, be calm and cool and tell them to fill it again and I will pay if it overflows. That clearly gets the thief caught red handed. Also, should do it along with some people around including the Bunk Manager to avoid cheap road rage.
