Probably not in the next one year, but they are definitely doing some cost cutting. How well they do will all depend upon the upcoming Brio diesel I guess.

Also I wonder, after this news who will buy the Civic thats left with the dealers and at what prices they go at. It was an aspirational car for many among us and probably right time to pick one up (after hard bargaining of course).

Once Honda is ready to launch new gen Civic with India specific diesel motor,then they will re launch it I am abosolutely cetrain about that.


Civic will never die.

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, continued to perform successfully in India as it marked up a sale of 680 cars in July 2012 - a growth of 98 percent over the same period last year (July 2011: 343 cars). The brand with the four rings grew by 49 percent during January to July of 2012, selling 4680 vehicles as compared to 3145 vehicles sold during the same period last year.

I am a Petrol Car Fan . I never like the vibration and sound of diesel . Diesel is for heavy vehicle . Not for personal Car. Civic should come back again.

That's a very wrong thinking bro. Probably you are talking about the diesels in cars belonging to the last decade. Try some modern CRDi engines.

This was also my perception before I drove Manza Quadrajet.After driving it I have completely forgotten my XETA/Petrol Indica.[:)]

The fact is that modern common rail diesels are more smoother than petrol,more fuel efficient and also more fun to drive.Petrols have got no advantage over modern diesels trust me except that they are cheaper to buy than their respective diesel variants.[;)]

The company sold 530 units of small car SThe company sold 530 units of small car Spark, 4,226 units of hatchback Beat, 139 units of entry-level sedan Aveo and 337 units of luxury sedan Cruze last month.

It also sold 2,217 units of multi-purpose vehicle Tavera during the month. The company did not share the sales numbers of its two models Optra and Captiva.

Tata Motors sales up 12% in Aug


Tata Motors today reported 12% increase in total sales at 71,826 units in August this year.

The company's domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles for the month grew by 13%to 67,453 units against 59,874 units in August last year.

Tata Motors commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 45,142 units in August 2012 compared to 43,045 units sold in August last year, up 5 per cent, it said in a statement.

Light commercial vehicle sales were at 30,461 units, a growth of 16%from 26,344 units sold in August last year, it added.

Medium and heavy vehicle sales stood at 14,681 units, down 12%from 16,701 units.

Passenger vehicles sales were higher by 33% to 22,311 units against 16,829 units sold in the same month last year, it added.

Sales of the Nano were at 6,507 units, up over five-fold over 1,202 units in August last year.

The Indica range sales were higher by 5%to 7,591 vehicles compared to 7,206 units sold in the same month last year.

The Indigo range recorded sales of 3,629 units, down 29%against 5,100 units in the year-ago period.

The Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture range sales were at 4,584 units in August, up 38%from 3,321 units in the same month last year, the statement said.

The company's exports in August increased by 4% to 4,373 units from 4,204 units in the same month last year.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today reported a 19.83 per cent increase in sales at 13,995 units during August 2012.

It had sold 11,679 units in the same month last year, TKM said in a statement.

TKM, a joint venture between Japan's Toyota Motor Corp and the Kirloskar Group, said the sales growth was mainly driven by Innova, Etios and Fortuner.

"We have registered a growth this month based on good sales of Etios, Innova and Fortuner. We launched the All New Camry last month and have received an overwhelming response with 111 orders. We have dispatched 60 units last month," TKM Deputy Managing Director, Marketing, Sandeep Singh said in a statement.

The Camry is being locally manufactured at an exclusive assembly line in the company's second plant at Bangalore.

TKM's Etios series registered a 3 per cent rise in sales during the month at 5,698 units compared to 5,524 units in August 2011.

The Innova sales stood at 6,439 units last month against 4,303 units in August last year, a jump of 50 per cent.

The sales of Fortuner was at 1,289 units compared to 897 units in August last year, up 44 per cent.

Camry sales stood at 60 units in August as against 34 units in the same month last year, up 76 per cent.

The sales of Corolla Altis stood at 492 units, down 54 per cent from 913 units in the same month last year.
