I am shocked to see the dipping sales of FIAT. For the past few months i have been keeping an eye on the FIAT sales and sadly theres no improvement in these figures. In the month of December when most of the manufacturers were able to boost up their sales, FIAT seems to have taken nose dive.
IMO the only way left for FIAT to achieve the targets is setup of independent dealerships.
These figures that are reported are "wholesale" figures .
Wholesale is what FIAT sell to Tata motors (distributor). It is this sale that gets reported

Retails are what dealers actually sell. FIAT has had the highest retails in Dec. 2010.

Also , due to year end, there was a major stock correction going on ...

Now, jan figures will speak for itself. lets watch..

OT : No offence to any of the FIAT owners, but if a FIAT product doesn't do well, why blame TATA for it? If the product is good enough and attracts more people, I dont think anyone might worry about how good or bad the ASS is. Moreover TATA has managed to sell 5000+ cars of Indica, Indigo, Sumo, Nano and about 1000+ of Safari. The newly released ARIA has done about 250+. So, the problem really lies either with the product or it has to do something with FIAT's image in India.

I guess the problem with FIAT is marketing. None of their products are marketed well. In their ads there's no mention of the car's features.

In the 90HP Punto, they just show the bluetooth option and in the t-jet ad, they show the car being driven around town with people amazed by the looks. Is that all thats there in that car? [frustration] C'mon...

hi friends i got this information from ****

Today I met with a Fiat official. He confirmed that Market Strategey is still under control of FIAT only . New Ads are being developed, new stretgies are taking place. All in all we have to wait till feb\Mar 2011 and we'll see major improvement in this area .

I discussed about low sale figures in Nov and Dec. He laughed when I asked about 271 cars sold in Dec. He asked me that where from I got this information. I told, from website of Tata Motors. Then he told me that Dec sale was 1900+ (1961 he remembered). He received an internal mail containing this info. In Nov FIAT sold 2000+ cars. Also told that puntos is leading Linea slightly.
I can belive on him based on past. Fiat is silent and this can be "Toofan se pehli ki Shanti". Lets wait n watch.

Great Info. Nice to see almost all the Indian makes in top of the list, 2011 things will change for sure.
Nissan might enter the Top 40 list. VW should be little higher. Toyota Etios is goin to play a very big roll.

Well Gagi, good that you believe that person but you check any site. You will not find the information regarding Fiat selling 1900+ or whatever number your friend suggested. Everyone like to give higher figure rather than under figure to create hype in the market. Either people in Fiat do not understand marketing strategy or do not understand Indians.[surprise]

Either way it is problematic for Puntos or Lineas and future buyers like us.

Like a broken record, I repeat that the sales reported by SIAM is primary sales i.e. Manufacturer to Dealer. However, it gives a yardstick for comparison. Though secondary sales could be higher or lower than primary, there are no validated figures. Hence, comparison is made on these SIAM figures. Those 300+ figures are also primary sales only & secondary sales could be higher. However, this also shows a declining trend. Piling inventory at dealership is not a positive sign. Lots of Linea's & Punto's seen on the road, though. Lets see Jan'11 sales, all indications are that it should be much better.
