April 2011 Indian Car Sales Figures

Let us begin revealing Indian car sales figures of April 2011 with Honda:

• Honda City: 1,542 units

• Honda Jazz: 112 units

• Honda Civic: 253 units

• Honda Accord: 83 units

• Honda CR-V: 22 units

With the above figures, the company has reported decline in sales upto 43%. HSCI Senior Vice-President (Sales & Marketing) Jnaneswar Sen said:

Production adjustments for a smooth transition began from mid-April. Further, to ensure continuity of supplies to our customers in the forthcoming months, we have moderated our wholesale dispatches.

HM-Mitsubishi sales are pathetic! SX4 even after the addition of diesel doesn't seem to pick up in sales and the main reason i feel is their own rival Dzire! Am amazed to see the figures for Eeco!


Aria slowly picking up , still needs to perform a lot better.


Etios's figures too are impressive.


Verna and Jetta i feel low sales due to new model arrival.

Volkswagen Beetle has performed reasonably well. Bad times going for Sonata and Palio. According to sources, Sonata is likely to continue after i40's launch. But if this fate continues - what will Hyundai do?

IMO they should bury the name of Sonata. The earlier generation Sonata's have created a bad reputation for low FE and costly maintenance though things have changed a lot after facelifts but people's perceptions hardly change.


So its better they stick to the "i" factor hereafter.

Let us begin with the sales of May 2011. Starting with Hyundai: The total sales figures were recorded 47,766 units, as opposed to 46,808 last year in May 2010. Thereby registering increase of up to 2%.

- Santro, i10, i20: 40,520 units
- Accent & Verna: 7,110 units
- Sonata Transform: 14 units
- Santa Fe: 122 units.

I would like to see the split up between Santro , i10 and i20 , i am sure i10 will the major contributor. Good to see the rise in the sales of Verna figures! Sonata segment will also rise once i45 gets launched.
