Fiat sets up stockyard facility at Ranjangaon:

FIAT Group Automobiles India Private Limited (FGAIPL), subsidiary of Italian auto major Fiat has set up a stockyard facility at Ranjangaon near Pune. The stockyard has the capacity to house 2000 cars. The stockyard also comprises of a separate loading area to allow loading of cars into car carrier trailors.

The stockyard, designed and constructed by FIAT's logistics partner Mercurio Pallia, is spread across a area of 12 acres within the Ranjangaon Industrial premises and in close proximity to FIAT's manufacturing plant. However, company has not disclosed any investment details for this facility.

Currently, the stockyard will cater to the incumbent Fiat Linea and Fiat Punto models.

In due course of time it will store cars from the FIAT and the Chrysler group as and when they are introduced in the Indian market.

Speaking on the occasion, Enrico Atanasio, MD, FIAT Group Automobiles Pvt. We are confident that India will be a driving force in terms of volumes for the group and therefore, the development of this stockyard in association with Mercurio Pallia, our logistics partner will enable us to bridge the demand-supply gap and put us in a strong position to achieve our objectives."

Robert Decrick, head, SCM, APAC FIAT Chrysler added, "The development of this stockyard is in alignment with the Group's strategy to replicate its' global operational standards. Our objective is to develop India as a global export hub and this stockyard is a stepping stone towards accomplishing it."

Fiat India is also expanding its own dealership network by appointing 110 new dealers by end of June 2013. It has a target of appointing 170 dealers by the end of December 2013. Along with this, now, Fiat eyes Indian SUV market and will launch a new model 'Wrangler' and 'Cherokee' Jeep brands by October in India. This will compete with Land Rover and Audi Q7. Fiat India has totally cut off the sales network from Tata Motors. Some important pointers:

> Fiat has opened up 51 exclusive dealerships in last 1 Year.

> They are aiming to double these figures with in this fiscal.

> Refreshed Grande Punto and Linea will be introduced in sometime.

> Fiat will also kick start several marketing campaigns through TV, print and online media.

> Italian car maker has set up 24x7 toll free assistance for the entire line up just like other carmakers.

> Fiat now offers 3 Years / 1 Lakh Kms warranty with an optional warranty of 2 Years / 1.5 Lakh Kms.

^^ If you are expecting major changes to existing Punto and Linea, then am afraid. Rumors are going around that new gear box might be mounted, but am skeptical. Abarth Punto and Jeep would be the products to look for in 2013. During, Vecto Fiat showroom inauguration, Fiat management had categorically stated that 2013 would be year of showrooms and service centers. 2014 would be year of new models. Considering this and the fact that Punto and Linea were refreshed to some extent last year, am not expecting any major changes. One positive to look out for new buys would be greater warranty period.

Anyways, by end of April there should be more clarity.

Finally Fiat seems to be very aggressive these days opening their own outlets quickly across the country, but they need to introduce more and more models quickly to capture the market, people are just bored to buy a same Punto and Linea(I doubt if some body buying this)

I think if they are focusing on service centers then they are doing right as it is gonna help them give better ASS, otherwise new models would also be getting bashed by non-fiat owners about the ass of fiat.

Take it positively that they are trying to establish themselves, i assume its better late than never[;)].

Nobody is there to help fiat cars these days, due to ASS not getting provided by tass, and if people are buying in these conditions, yeah linea and punto all are selling in decent nos.(they are not apparent because the statistics are usually based on sale of vehicles from factory to dealer and not on dealer to consumer). Think about the sale when everything would be established.

I want fiat to release a car which is low cost and carries a 1 ltr MJD and price it between 4-6 lakhs, the company will regain its name and fame again. If Fiat palio is revived again then there are chances.

What about BeatD and FigoD?
They'll go Indica ev2 way[lol][lol].
Primarily Indica eV2 is the most preferred vehicle in the taxi market because of its low maintenance and least priced, Beat and Figo is not preferred because Beat has cramped interiors and Figo is no longer priced well with the Indica eV2, that's why i told the car should be launched in 4-6 lakhs budget to cater the market needs and in turn to make a comeback.
