Hi Dear TAI'ns,
can any one please assist me to take out the blower unit from dash without removing the dash board my cars ac vent gone inside the blower[frustration][cry]
Well Sir, that's quite a lot of work. You will need
  1. Two people (that includes you)
  2. half a day
  3. " + " & " - " screw drivers
  4. 12 size T bolt,
  5. 17 size open or ring spanner
  6. WD40 or any rust losener spray if dashboard screws are rusted
  7. Hammer (If steering wheel is stuck)
The part you are talking about is the middle air vent/direction thing. It is held by two screws & a plastic washer (long bracket type) To replace it/refit it you need to remove these in the same order

  1. Steering wheel bolt
  2. indicator stalk
  3. Speedometer black plastic covering
  4. speedometer
  5. dashboard screws
  6. dashboard will be come off now
  7. remove the plumbing behind the dashboard & fix new parts
  8. Refit everything back.

Please start a fresh thread or merge it in your ownership review, we'll certainly help you out.

SS80 i have a superb solution to your empty space in the dash !,
https://dx.com/p/3-8-lcd-digital-cl...eter-voltage-measuring-bar-for-vehicles-35152

I purchased it from dx.com and works perfectly fine, if you want you can drop in to my place and see how it looks in your dash. Power source is through ciggy lighter and has two options for the backlight i.e orange and blue

PS - Go through the reviews and pics of people who have purchased it , youll get a better idea
Thanks RPM2500, somehow I am more inclined towards replacing this dashboard & then definately I want this kind of MID in my car. I will PM you & we'll meet up shortly.

Hi guys, is there any Donor car available known to you (in Bangalore)? As I am planning to get these parts from any used/long time parked/scrap value car -
1. Dashboard only (No Ac vents)
2. Speedometer black cover (No more in production/MGP suppliers)
3. Grill (Old type) that has the "Maruti 800" on it, I think upto 1992 models came with that grill, not sure though (No more in production/MGP suppliers)
4. Bonnet - Any colour is fine as long as it looks good. (What could be the cost of new Bonnet?)
5. Gearbox - Only if budget permits & is in excellent condition - New one is out of question, current one is pathetic despite the bearing change.

The drive shaft boot's grease spill issue is under control as of now, I had cleaned the entire engine bay with Kerosene & Cotton waste two days back. Today drove my car for over 10kms (some high speed sections too) & checked again. No Grease leak :D

Also, any rough idea on how much would each cost?

^^ Its good to hear that the drive shaft boot issue is resolved. If it wasn't for the distance ( Lucknow-Bangalore) i would have helped you in getting a donor as many old Gen. 1 Maruti cars turn up here at scrapyard with good usable parts.
Anyways i can share the approx. cost of various used parts which you have listed as i am a frequent visitor at scrapyard here.[:P] Kindly note these are Lucknow market prices. Hope this helps you in some way.

1. Complete unit Rs.400
2. Cover only Rs 100 I can help you with procuring this, just share a pic of the same for reference.
3. Good condition one costs Rs.250. This too can be located as shipping it is not a problem, do let me know if you need it.
4. This can be priced around Rs. 700-1000 depending on condition.
5. Very hard to find a perfect one, many 800 GBs develop a humming noise over a period of time so its a gamble. May cost somewhere around Rs.1500-2500 in exchange.

PS: I replied to your mail, hope you have checked it.

Door Hinges, Stoppers, Locks & many more..

SS80 - Why not take a walk to the humble Gujri for your part requirements
The reason I am looking for a donor car is
  1. I can directly buy from the owner/his representative
  2. I am not comfortable with Gujri because those parts can be from stolen cars
  3. It would be like indirectly supporting car theives if I buy from Gujri (My car is on 3rd party insurance, so if lost it too would be stripped for spares may be at Gujri)
  4. I am really poor in negotiating prices, so I prefer staying away from tricky places
  5. That is one place where I will probably land in search of parts once all M800 parts go extinct

Not that I am 100% perfect, but somewhat uncomfortable with this Gujri place, I might be buying some sad car owner's parts for throw away prices. Although it is not a stolen parts market, the thought keeps me away.

Thanks for the suggestion RPM2500, I will have to make up my mind shortly if no other option arises.

Thanks a lot Sagar, Yes I got the link. I have located one deserted car near my home. But nobody seems to know the owner of that car. I will go again & enquire this time.

Bought new parts again[drive]
  1. All four Door Hinges
  2. All four door stoppers
  3. Locks & 2 Keys (new type with plastic) full kit
  4. handbrake lever
  5. floor carpet clips
  6. Spray nozzle & plumbing (Type 2)
  7. Battery to Ground (&gearbox) cable
  8. Battery to starter motor cable

Bill: Rs.2196/- all MGP parts from Essar

Will update photos soon. My family members always ask me "DOES THIS CAR HAVE REALLY SO MANY ISSUES THAT YOU KEEP STRIPPING IT EVERY NOW & THEN!"

They will have another chance to say so[frustration]
To replace the front door hinges the bumper & fenders have to be removed. It will again look like half car. However I will fix them asap.
Rear doors should not be such a trouble as the front.

All suggestions are welcome.

Now thats one hell of a Diwali shopping, would be glad if you can share the breakup cost of each part.
I hope to see you smeared in grease again soon LOL.
BTW I will hunt down a old 800 grill & a speedometer console front cover for you & let you know.

PS: Do you plan to acquire that deserted car or its sibling, i hope you do. More on this later via PM though would be glad if you can mail some pics [;)]

Samsag12: I will post the picture of the bill (clear one with all details & proper names of parts) by tomorrow. The grill is no more in production however the "speedometer console front cover" has come to Essar (seems like they have ordered after my last time enquiry), the finishing of the item (the markings) is really horrible & not of the usual MGP standards so did not buy it. The same guy who said me last time that production is stopped brought this item. I think they bring such items from storeroom only if we bill for 4digit figures [anger]

Raining Bad Luck:
1. Bought a new mobile so that I can always be online as I dont recharge my USB datacard very often. It went kaput, no replacement available, now mobile is in service center & will be returned only after ten days. The standby mobile they have given is worn out like hell!
2. Today I drove the car in heavy rain for almost 2.5Hrs with lot of splashing around puddles etc, the same right side windshield corner water leak has started again!
3. Wiper speed reduces after 10mins of usage, speed 2 behaves like speed 1 & speed 1 is too slow. It behaves as if its tired now. Give it a break for some fifteen mins & use again it works well for some mins & then same slow motion starts. Is it worth repairing wiper motor? or better replace it.
4.Car didnot cross 70kmph at all (with total 3 occupants), it kind of struggles. The same car on dry roads without rains touches 90kmph with ease. I will have to do some 0 - 60 & 0 - 100 sprints to find out the average acceleration of my car.

PS: I do not have any plans of acquiring that car, as I have no money to buy it fully & also no space to park it.

OT: M800 steering becomes very light during rains, quite risky though. Will hot dry air, clear the fog/mist on the windhshield inner side? Literally I am blinded with no ac, all windows closed, all glasses with fog, slow wiper - One hell of a situation to be in. The worst of all I have to lean forward & wipe the windshield to make it clear.

Nice Experience though.

Photos of the cables fixed last night.

Hi SS80, the water leak is from the radio areal point. Make sure you close it with some sealant or remove the antenna and close the hole with rubber molding (OEM).

For wiper issue you can get the motor bushes replaced it might have gone weak.
Wont cost more than 200rs. Lets do a DIY ! [evil]

Steering becoming light ! Surely some issue with steering box, mine is the opposite it becomes like a loaded truck you have drag to turn the car ! [frustration]

Again may be issue with your alty unable to produce desired power (working temperature) , did you check when you are alone ?

For fogging issue I have seen my cab drivers using Fire extinguisher. They spray the foam rub it against the glass voila mist is gone !
Or you will have a manual wiper (that's the co-driver with a cloth cleaning for you). [lol]
