Finally after lot of delays, I managed to take my car for service to our trusted mechanic, for these repairs

1. Gearbox Overhaul (Replacing all bearings + new 3rd gear part)
2. Oil Sump/Pan replacement
3. Coolant Hose kit
4. Fuel filter & adjoining pipes
5. New Clutch Cable
6. Steering boots replacement
7. Drive shaft boot inspection & replace if necessary
8. Front Cross Member (Chassis part replacement)
9. Carb Tuning

Here are some pictures of the progress on Saturday.

The engine seriously looks tiny next to the car (but although small packs a good punch)

My Car Gearbox opened for inspection [I must admit that I am confident about this honest mechanic, my car will be ready for delivery may be by Monday or Tuesday & I am not really worried about it (safety/parts etc)]

The third gear is damaged & hence a new replacement part will be fixed soon.

Our Mechanic opened the Gearbox right in front of us & cleared all our doubts on how it works, whereall the damage is done, parts & their job etc

I was just going through your work on your M800, i kinda liked that color combo on the dashboard; no wonder Mr Varun was suggesting me the brown beige combo, i had completely missed that whole thread of yours glad i found it
I Just had few questions though which might help me in my work on the esteem interiors -

1. Is there any chipping/peeling you have noticed after paint on the dashboard?
2. When you purchased the beige color did you pre-mix the color or got a pre-set shade of beige ? i took a preset spray paint from SP road Brand: ASMACO (OK quality not great)
3. I read about a yellow primer in your posts, how is it different from the conventional primer which is transparent
4. The floor vinyl - How much did this cost you; and have you got an even finish considering the fact that it had too many wrinkles when you were installing it
5. What about the roof, i mean the stock roof comes in grey color, what would you suggest to make that match the beige interiors

The roof i feel is the biggest challenge i will face in my esteem when i change to the beige interiors because having a grey roof and all beige interior will really look bad. And to top it mine is the felt type [frustration]

And please do post a pic of you completed beige interiors im waiting to see the finished product

ICE & New moulded roof

I was just going...

1. Is there any chipping/peeling you have noticed after paint on the dashboard?
My dashboard is causing glares on my windshield so I will be changing the colour soon. There is no chipping/peeling as of now, since I used the plastic pimer first before applying the paint. But I have not applied the Lacquer so if I scratch with nails twice or thrice it tends to peel. Please avoid glossy (shiny)paints, try something in Matte finish, as it wont glare.
After you paint the dashboard, apply the Clear coat (Lacquer) you get the clear coat in two options for matte finish & for glassy finish.

2. When you purchased the beige color did you pre-mix the color or got a pre-set shade of beige ? i took a preset spray paint from SP road Brand: ASMACO (OK quality not great)
I took a preset paint (looked into their catalogue & just bought it), however you can take a sample of the colour you want & get the same thing prepared at the paintshop. Have you bought a spray can? They usually dont last that long.

3. I read about a yellow primer in your posts, how is it different from the conventional primer which is transparent
The yellow primer I used is called "ZINC PRIMER" it is easily available in all hardware shops, I heard that it lasts longer than Red oxide. So I preferred this.

4. The floor vinyl - How much did this cost you; and have you got an even finish considering the fact that it had too many wrinkles when you were installing it
The biggest problems with my Vinyl Flooring DIY were

  • Once the floor gets heated (common problem in M800's) the Vinyl starts to smell like its burning/melting
[*]If you park the car in sun for a long time & come back the smell is back again
[*]I am having too many wires flowing in all directions so any lose connection etc you got to pull everything
[*]The wrinkles are large only if you try to use the whole sheet as a single piece, cut them into strips makes the job easier
[*]As of now I have just removed it, not sure If I will put it back.

If your Esteem comes with Moulded roof, please do not do anything to change it. I have literally tried & enquired with too many people about alternative roof works. Most of them are too costly & just dont match the neat fit & finish of the moulded roof.

And please do post a pic of you completed beige interiors im waiting to see the finished product
I am delaying the seat cover works for two reasons
1. I want to get the seats from Alto/ Type 2 800/ Chevy beat
2. Vitamin "M"

Time for some simple interior upgrade & music
Bought the below items for my cutie today
Moulded Roof of Maruti 800 Type 2: 1700Rs (including clips)
Alto fuel cap opener : 37Rs.
Pioneer Headunit 1490UB (No cd option, only USB & AUX): 3300/-
Pioneer speakers 400W x 2Nos : 2100/-

Pictures will do the talking.
