The zen has coil spring suspension, yours is still the leaf spring one.Stick with M800 parts.

Although if you ask for M800 rear shocks you will find gas filled ones. These are the ones for M800 with coil spring suspension.

Also a cheaper alternative to converting your car to coil spring is composite leaf springs.

Let me know if you need them.

Hi Jarpickle,

What is the cost of composite leaf springs? is it better than the usual metal leaf spring? In case I opt for composite leaf springs, I still need these dampers right?

Here are some pics I got on facebook for Composite Leaf springs

That image belongs to a company called ARC COmposite Leaf springs, they have also uploaded two videos to demonstrate the effectiveness of those Leaf springs.

Today got drenched in rain, caught little bit cold, but finally the parts are here [:D]

New Oil Pan (Oil sump as mechanics call it)

The gasket/packing for the oil pan, this gasket is thicker than a cd! first time I am seeing a gasket this thick. Usually they are sligthly thicker than a folded paper.

Congratulations to us [cheers]
Did you buy a new drain plug for the new sump? Also wash that mesh filter thats inside the old one before shifting it to the new one.

Are the new shocks oil filled or gas filled?

Btw, let me know what you think about the composite leaf springs. The facebook link you posted is for them.Although the name has changed now.Currently out of stock, although I have asked for an update [;)] If anyone else is interested let me know.

Yes, it is very close to the same comfort level. They have two kinds soft and hard.If you load the car to its limit then go for the hard one(doesn't make sense cause the metal ones are the same)But these don't sag as fast as metal.

Sorry I have no idea, whether it has oil in it, but it is not a gas filled one (for sure).

Small update to M800 Type2 guys: When replacing the damper in your cars, go for the zen ones.

Type 2 dampers dont fit in type1 M800.

Zen and 800 have the same ones.So doesn't make any difference. If they are separate then it would be nice. The zen's parts are mostly uprated.

Things like this don't make sense to everyone. You can't justify it with numbers and calculations. This is what enthusiasts do, this is who we are.

Ha Ha.. The time and money he spent on his car is valuable.

People like me and ss80 would love to do it by ourselves. [lol]
I guess the every movement he spent with his car he has enjoyed it.

There are many things which we can do with a carb 800 than a mpi 800 [frustration].

Well said Varun Sir,
Many of my friends too say that I have wasted a lot of money and in that amount I could have brought a post 2005 MPFI.
I too bought an old car because I love to spend time in DIYs and maintaining my car
