I have voted for Ford. Which brand have you voted for?

1989@ Friend, where are you? Your vote required!!
He He You know what I will opt for, Yeah! its FORD, My priority as an individual is to feel the difference and Go further, but If I were to choose a family car, I would choose Volkswagen
There is nothing that can beat Ford in terms of how it drives, actually the Euro Fords are so good that even Lancia's,Fiats,Alfa Romeos,Mazda s which were considered best handling small FWD car makers have now submitted defeat before the mighty FIESTA ST, worlds best HOT HATCH, now Renault's track focused Clio RS200 is its only rival, but without a proper open or closed mechanical slip differential if Ford is able to beat the competition, its enough said, Worlds best FWD car maker

Conditions apply: All those who drive Fords should be able to accept the niggles it comes with, although I dont care about it.

Hi Figoian,
Ford will make it if the poll was for Perspirational Indian automaker brand war( for giving perspiration for the thousands waiting for Ecosport) :stupid:
Regards,
Aneesh.
The huge waiting periods is the case with every super-hit model in India. There are numerous examples to support this :-

1.) Maruti Swift/Dzire - The waiting exceeded 6 months and continued like this for years.Even today, when markets are weak and sales down, Swift-D Vdi has at least a months waiting in Delhi.

2.) Hyundai Verna - I have heard waiting of upto 6 months on this too.

3.) Mahindra XUV - They just stopped taking booking after their initial quota was over.Same was the case with Fortuner.

4.) Renault Duster - Wait periods of 5-6 months were a common sight before the arrival of ES.

5.) Honda Amaze - Less said , the better, for wait duration of Amaze.

There are other examples too. Hence, I don't understand why people are cribbing so much on the waiting period.

Yes, Ford is wrong in delivery goof-ups and dealer centric approach. Also, the price hike could be avoided for the time being, but they are here for business and this practice has been employed by many others. Here, our weak laws are at fault!

Hi Rahul,
You are wrong,Amaze has a waiting period of 2 weeks now, some colors are available for immediate delivery.Ford is here to do business, that everyone knows. No wonder they are in such an enviable position in India.

Waiting periods aside, if they had done some official statement like all petrol bookies will get their Ecosports before say 6 months and then bookings will be stopped and will be resumed by 2014 Jan or Feb, it would have been a great relief, they could have done a lot more to keep faith within customers
As of now we cant complain because If I had pre booked Ecosport and if I dont get it by above told time, even I might jump angry so its a no-brainer situation for customers now, REACT and my opinion is to let them react as @Raja has told before, we have the right to do so and in another case if some one can really show Ford a better way of taking care of customers by protesting, let the brand acquire some basic knowledge from their 3rd class customers(FIPL approach to Indians)

Ford Chennai plant is capable of producing 34 vehicles per hour, but is producing just 19 EcoSports today. I think the dependence on suppliers and ancillaries proved to be the achilles heel for Ford India. On one hand, lowering costs requires localization, which means external suppliers. On the other hand, your plant capacity is totally at the mercy of these suppliers. It is a tough job - being a Ford India management.

Maruti, having experience of so many hit launches, knows the typical demand pattern in India - they already knew that in the 1st year, 80% demand is for the top variants, then it tapers to 20%. They already know the profile of 1st year buyers v/s 2nd year buyers. Ford did absolutely the reverse - they actually started shipping the lower variants (Ambient/Trend) first. Had their execs known the typical Indian trend, they would have made sure Titanium variants could be supplied first. This would have been better for their brand presence too - I started seeing all sort of after-market fitted, clunky accessoriezed Ambient Ecosports before seeing the stylish Titanium versions on the streets. It sort of created a negative picture for people observing your brand.

Probably Ford is not able to hire execs from other companies - who are familiar with Indian buyer. After more than a decade in Indian market, I expect them to have some level of understanding of Indian buyer.

After being here for 17 years in India,if the stupids running Ford in India haven't learned about Indian market, they need to be shown the door.Hyundai,Toyota and Honda entered later than Ford and all the three are having great reputation among buyers.Just look at the sales chart of November, shows the ground reality.Ford will remain a one car wonder for the foreseeable future.Loyalty is not earned by arrogance but by humility, but to expect the latter from el cheapos is asking for too much. Now I understand why Honda and Toyota sells.

It amazes me that out of so many examples I sought out,you caught hold of one saying it is not correct. The truth is that Amaze did had a waiting period of 5-6 months when launched. It is now that Honda has started a third shift and delivery time has come down.

Honda is sailing in the same boat as of now with only Amaze/Brio moving out of showrooms.

How the "One Ford" strategy of Ford is especially helpful to Indian car buyers ? In this article about the new Fiesta, there is a tidbit shared by Ford engineer on how "One Ford" works ...

As for safety, the ASEAN-built Fiesta can be said to be as safe as the one built in Europe and the structure is confirmed to be exactly the same. What was interesting to learn from Paul Altamore, Ford Asia-Pacific’s Safety Compliance Manager, was that the engineers take note of the toughest safety tests anywhere in the world and strive to pass them. Once they do so, the changes made are incorporated into versions made elsewhere so the model keeps getting better. He noted that one element of the ASEAN NCAP run by MIROS is actually quite challenging.

Likewise for measures taken to reduce noise and vibrations – road-testing in the ASEAN region led the engineers to add additional insulation and other materials in certain areas to make the cabin quieter. These measures were not in the European Fiesta when it was first launched as European road conditions are better. However, now that they have been incorporated in the ASEAN version, the same measures will be applied to the European and China versions as well.
Given that other manufacturers often sell made-for India cars which may not have been safety tested to international standards, the "One Ford" strategy actually offers the Indian buyer a vehicle that stands upto international safety standards. It's a win-win - Ford saves on R&D and manufacturing costs, the buyer has reasonable assurance of a product that meets international quality standards.

Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai i10, Tata Nano, Ford Figo fail crash test; not safe for you
Look at the result of Ford Figo, it failed test because it didnt have airbags but with airbags it would have passed the test, same like the VW Polo, and its clearly written that the Fords chassis and structure remained intact even after collision, thats the brilliance of Ford chassis, remember Ford Figo is a very old 2003 model Ford Fiesta of Europe chassis and still its super safe regarding how old the chassis is , this is another major reason why I like Ford, its chassis unlike lot of manufacturers like Subaru,Mazda,Maruti,Hyundai etc is just not aerodynamically good but is safe too, Subaru & Mazda specially make superb chassis for cars and are almost identical to Ford chassis in nature but somehow they cant match Fords safety credentials, they are extremely good for handling and stiff and taut feel but they are not strong as Fords chassis
