My bad.

Pradeep, if you want tight bass go for a smaller sub.The bigger ones will give you thump but they aren't that tight.
Sorry buddy, but this is not true. Had this been true, component drivers (6.5") would have give tightest bass.

To achieve a tight bass we need 3 things:

1. Sealed box made to EXACT specs - most important.
2. A sub with crisp and short travel of the diapharm.
3. An amp that is rated same or a lil above the MAX RMS of the sub.

Anyday a 12" driver shall generate more energy than a 10"/8" driver. A very nice example is RF P3D212, superbly amazing and fast sub. Another budget option is RF P1 which is just too fast for it's price.

The components are tuned to play mid frequency bass. Not the low frequency that that subs play.

Like you said the faster the sub is the better the sound it produces. That is correct.

A sub with the lowest response time will produce better sound.

A better quality 8" sub can any day beat the sound reproduction of a cheaper 10/12" sub.
The choosing factor should be quality over size.

That is the reason a sub should be auditioned in the place where it is going to spend most of its time.

@Freakdude:Do we get branded enclosures here or do we need to get one made,if so please share some dimensions.

If you are picking a "better quality" 8" then compare it with a better quality 12" only and not with "cheaper 10"/12". A 12" shall any day beat a 8" driver which is only acoustic to a limit and can't produce the lower frequencies as a 12" driver can do. 8" subs are primarily used when you need "some" bass and are very short on space.

We do get subs in their factory made enclosures, Pioneer, Kicker etc. have options of SUB+enclosure. Dimensions vary from sub to sub. All 12" sub do not have same dimensions so can't be shared. when you purchase a sub, the dimensions sheet comes along with it only so that one can refer to it when getting the enclosure made.

You are right, it is fair to compare the best of both. But what about the prices? What kind of budget are you working on Pradeep?

Freakdude: Are there good 12" subs with low response times that you have used?

What about the shallow subs. How are they different. What kind of sq can be expected from them?

That is for the sub and amp right?

There was a Dual 12"Sub kit from Cerwin Vega for around 16k.It had two 12" subs and a 600w 2 channel amp and bass remote control.HED series.

I am not sure of the specs or of the sq.Maybe Freakdude can shed some light on the sq.

CV subs are quite nice, and 16K for 2 subs+amp is a sweet deal. The only glitch here is a single 2ch amp powering 2 12" is a bit doubtful. I'd prefer a 2ch amp to power only 1 sub or a mono to power 2 subs. Still 16K is a sweet deal, can you please post the link for the same. [:)]
