Hey neil i checked this site but could not chat. I found Kicker ZX400.1 R ZX-Series 400 Watt Class D Amplifier on that site at a price of $164 which turns about Rs.9000 in indian rupees. Is it worth to buy from this site. Do they shift it in India? Are online products trustworthy?

i am not saying to buy from that site. you have to use credit card.

if you cant get the product that you want then only keep option for online shopping.
and first prefer indian sites like ebay where we can pay using Paisapay (which holds your money until you get delivery and and confirm it)

If you really want to buy from site , then check out Car Audio Stereo - Car Subwoofers - Car Amplifiers and Speakers you will get every single thing there and most of them are half the mrp price.
And i have seen plenty of people worldwide order from their site. and their packaging is very good too.
I hope they ship to india. (i dont have credit card that's problem)

i also dont have credit card. So this option is not for me. I will check out the prices of mono amp here in mumbai. Which class mono amp is better D or AB. RF is AB type and kicker is D type.
My sub is 340 W rms so JBL gto 3501 or Kicker ZX 400.1 will be fine for me? What you say? Dont know the price of kicker.

Even RF has D type.

D type amps are smaller in size and are more efficient for high rms sub and gives less strain on battery. but it has lower SQ.
While AB class will be bigger in size , oriented towards SQ subs but more strain on battery.

Both will be good enough. it depends on you what you want.

if you spending much money , get more powerful amp at once , so in case if you want to upgrade your sub in future any time you will have more choices left.

My current polk sub is 340W RMS at 4 ohm. Then should i look for 500W RMS at 4 ohm mono or 500W RMS at 2 ohm. Can i connect 2 ohm mono amp to my 4ohm sub. I loved elctronics products but these theories confuse me a lot.

Friends,

I am planning to upgrade ICE of my car (Carbon Gray Fluidic SX(O) CRDI).
My budget is around 20K.

I am a dumb noob in these matters but thanks to some wonderful posts on this thread I have almost zeroed in on the following,

INFINITY KAPPA63.9I - 4 Speakers
JBL GTO 504E 4-Channel amplifier.

(Mono Amp and Sub,unfortunately for me, have to wait for next upgrade)

I saw in the JBL GTO504E specs that its RMS is 4*70W at 2 Ohms and the speakers' RMS is 75W. I'd like to know whether it's fine if the Amp is slightly underpowered than the speakers? Or will it do injustice to the sound quality?

Will GTO1004E fry these speakers due to its more power output?

Thanks,
Harish.

If your sub is 340w rms then look for an amp that is around the same power or a little less. A 500wt rms amp will fry the sub sooner or later. [:)]

Also, since your sub is a 4ohm SVC so look for a amp that is 4ohm stable.

Against JBL 540 amp I'd suggest you to see kenwood 846. It is a much better amp and produces clean power. JBL's 504 looks impressive on sheet but is not that nice a powerhouse. And 1004E is a superb amp and dont worry about it frying your components, they can easily handle it as far as you keep the gains under control.

Why i am not getting email notification while updates in threads!!!

anyways..

as your sub has SVC 4 ohm , try to get amp that has around 340 rms @ 4 ohm ( means that amp can have 500 to 600 rms @ 2 ohm)... and when you connect the sub keep your gain at 4 ohm. little less then max.

This kind of setup is best choice. Your sub will give optimum output. and your amp wont be overloaded as gains are at half. Longer life. (but if you will provide full power from amp to sub in this case one day you will get a fried sub like i did with my infinity)

KAPPA PERFECT 6.1 Components - Front
INFINITY KAPPA63.9I - Rear Speakers

Can you please advice how this combination works? (Sorry I should have asked this in my earlier post itself)
Kappa speakers are costlier. and i dont think you can manage 4 speakers , amp , wiring , hi-low converter in 20k

one set of kappa will cost at least around 9k if you can get them. I was supposed to buy same speaker for my car , searched a lot in bangalore but couldnt find one.

For amp , JBL GTO 504e will be good enough for speakers.
as freakdude said , Kenwood 846 will be better choice thn 504e.
or try for Kicker ex450.4 amp , the one nickandre have. around 10k he paid for it but really good amp

JBL GTO1004e is really big amp , you wont need that much power to run speakers. I have to keep my gain at half on this amp for my speakers. I paid around 13k for this amp.

So under 20k , buy one good amp for around 10k , one set of component around 6k and wiring 2k , converter 400 , and keep the FRONT stock speaker for now and upgrade it later.

Thanks Neil.

I will finalize among Kenwood 846 and Kicker. (I understand this costs around 10K)

Regarding speakers, I am willing to stretch a bit (may be another 10K) to replace all speakers. I would like to place components in the front and coaxials in the rear.
Can you please suggest the best options available in this budget (20K for speakers and wiring) ?

Thanks in advance [:)].
