Prices look fine if they are with bill and warranty. And please try to source Polk's against JBLs, they are definitely better in audio signature.

Thanks freakdude. Yes the prices are inclusive of bill and warranty.

I have asked him to procure Polks from somewhere else as I too didn't want to go with JBL instead of Polk.

I have also enquired about Focal. He said he can give that without bill and warranty. I didn't want to take such risk so said NO.

My amp problem is now solved. The dealer replaced the existing HE2 amp with Blaupunkt velocity series amp with 2k price difference. Now there is terrific bass sound from my polk sub. He has made some changes now. The current to amp is now given throgh key current. He has installed gain convertor which converts high in lows and these lows are connected to new amp through new RCA cable.

is this type of wiring is good?
I told you that there must be problem in your wiring. RCA wiring is good with hi-low converter. that is what we all are using.
(i dont know why we use the word "hi-low converter " . it should be line-out converter actually)

finally you getting desired output from your sub.
what are the specs of your new amp btw? is it mono or 2 ch?

with Discount price seems fine.
Polk will be good choice , after that infinity (no JBL)
For amp - in this price you can get so many choices so try for other brand. if you dont get any then go for this amp. I have the same one and its pretty good.

Sub- get rockford p1 or kicker sub. they are better. i used to have infinity sub , good for SQ but dont hit low.
and
subbox - if you want to get better sound get ported box with almost 1.7 cubic feet area. These dealers order subboxes from factory shops (where they make subboxes only). tell him i want a box of my own specification can you arrange one ?
The small box the dealers give to you wont produce much bass. waste of money.

if you cant calculate for subbox , inform me. i will give you specs.

if you have extra money get scosche original converter. as we dont have good HU , we need a good converter. it's little costlier.

Thanks a lot mate! You Rock!!!

I am going to another dealer today and will check about Rockford P1 12" sub. Can you please give me the box specs for this one? I will ask the dealer to provide the box as per the specs given by you.

Reg. Amp, I want it to connect the sub as well. So I thought GTO1004 would be powerful enough to do the job. If there is any better option to do the job at lower price, then I would gladly take it [clap].

Thanks,
Harish.

Hey neil, the amp is blaupunkt velocity series VA 275. It is 2 channel amp but better and powerful than Hertz HE2 amp. Actually this time also he tried to install new HE2 amp with gain convertor but the amp again failed. The HE2 was unable to deliver the desired power to sub. Then he realised that the whole lot of HE2 amp is faulty(Remember this was 4th amp). After that he installed this blaupunkt amp which he said it is better than hertz. Dont know the truth but now i have my desired output so much that when i kept my volume on 15, the rear windshield shatters with every punch. I have kept bass level at 3 only.

He has done some wiring in fuse area from where he has taken the key current for amp. Does your wiring is like this?

I will post my pictures ASP, the reason i have already mentioned in earlier post.

Scoshe Converter - 1700
Sub Box - 550 to 1450 (I told him I will give him dimensions of the box and he said he can supply as per my specifications)

However he said he will give X-static wiring (Made by Car Acoustics) instead of Scoshe. Is this a good brand?

The key current is dealer's/fitters terminology. He attached one small wire in fuse box where key ignition current is available. What he told that whenever ignition is kept at ON position amp will be switched on regardless the HU is OFF. He said our stock HU does not have the facility of cross wire or something by which amp is switched on only when HU is switched on. The after market HU comes with this facility. It means if am driving and my HU is switched off then also my amp is on. Does your fitting is also like this? Does your amp remains on even if you are not listening music?

i think whenever i turn on the ignition , amps are switched on even if HU is off.
i will check it once again.

This is done using the remote turn-on lead. It is a thin wire stuck on the RCA leads. On amp end it is connected to the 12volt input and on other end it is connected either to the 12volt o/p (a blue wire usually) in the HU wiring harness. Now, i am not sure if your OEM HU has this lead. In such cases the installers hotwire this lead from fuse or vehicle ignition module which they call as direct current. [:)]

it's really confusing.
but what is the use of it?
why do they do it?
The remote turn-on lead is used to turn on the amp sending it an electronic signal whenever the HU is turned on. It's like a "Hello There...wake up...I am ON" from the HU. Also, it is beneficial as the amp starts taking power only when required, i.e., HU is on. If direct wired, it keeps draining power from car's battery even if the HU is off.

Not all amps come with this remote turn-on feature but most modern amps do.
