Why dont you guys simply download Sygic from 4shared.com?

It comes with the Sygic app and also the Sygic map downloader app. The map downloader has a list of all the available maps which you can download through WiFi.

When you get a fully free version which updates automatically & choose the maps of states you wish, why to go for a cracked one from 4shared or any other site? (If it is not cracked, sygic gives only 7 days trial)https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sygic.aura

The good part is, you can connect to your sygic account - keep a track of your total travel & lots of features.

4shared ones are mostly 'Sygic' , here people are talking about the MapMyIndia Sygic which is free at the moment. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sygic.aura_mmi

Agreed. But, Sygic is a paid software. Basically, a 7 day trial. By downloading from 4shared.com, you get the full version for free.

Also, I have never used Sygic India (MapMyIndia Sygic). I will download it and give it a try. Though users have given poor reviews to Sygic India.

We are talking about piracy [evil]

If you see the comment by users, they are confused with other sygic. People are saying 'we paid, now it is crashing' etc. This version launched as free . So no question of paying money.

And, both versions of sygic are almost same. They do not make the worldwide version free as 'credit card' systems are working in other countries :)
In India, google charges $0.99 as initial checking and people are scared of deducting money unnecessarily. That money is refunded though.

Nithin, Appus thanks for the lead about the MMI, I have updated and its working just fine!
But still I don't know why they have let it on free? [evil] I don't believe in free lunch, but why am I worrying.[clap]

Thanks for the the dedicated thread though. Can we have short reviews on some of our favorite apps we use everyday here?

The moment I saw it here, I installed/checked and PMed you. I thought you did not get it :)

May be as superbad posted

Our Sygic & MapmyIndia app has been one of the most successful and top-grossing in India on Google Play, but India still has a very low penetration of credit cards, which makes it difficult to monetize there successfully,” Stencl said. ”In order to maintain a competitive marketshare, we have decided to make our app free, and wait until the market in India is more developed.

Raj_5504 had started a thread for the same . I think you can use that

More bad news for HTC as Taiwan based firm faces sales ban following ITC ruling

Things have not been going well for Taiwan based manufacturer HTC. As we told you earlier on Tuesday, the company is finding it hard to procure the casings it needs to produce the HTC One mini. Thanks to the shortage of this part, HTC now is expected to ship just 200,000 units of the HTC One mini each month. In addition, the company's big budget ad campaign starring Robert Downey Jr. hasn't been seen on television for weeks and is apparently a flop.

And things could get much worse for HTC following a ruling by the ITC that several HTC handsets infringe on two Nokia patents. The commission found HTC not guilty of infringing on one Nokia patent. The patents found to be infringed on deal with the signals sent and received by both handsets and tablets. The ITC could issue a sales ban blocking the infringing phones from entering into the U.S. A final decision will be made by the ITC on January 23, 2014

The phones involved in the possible sales ban include the HTC Amaze 4G, the HTC Inspire 4G, HTC Flyer, HTC Jetstream, HTC Radar 4G, HTC Rezound and the HTC Sensation 4G. Nokia spokesman Mark Durrant emailed a statement that read, "Nokia is pleased that the initial determination of the ITC confirmed that HTC has infringed two of our patents."

The only good news for HTC here is that the handsets involved are well past their prime and a sales ban against them really wouldn't do any damage to the manufacturer. What this does do is take some time, money and focus away from more important things that the Taiwan based firm could be working on.

Samsung reportedly not alone in cheating Android benchmarks

Samsung has come under fire this week for allegedly inflating the benchmark scores for the Galaxy Note 3 among other Android devices, but -- shocker -- the company is not alone in enhancing scores.

AnandTech just published a report that shows ASUS, HTC and other companies using the same "benchmark detect" function to artificially bump up the numbers. According to the site, virtually all OEMs run a CPU optimization on at least one of their devices, save for Apple, Google's Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 and Motorola's latest crop of phones. Dishonesty aside, though, what's the big to-do about these inflated scores? AnandTech found that companies notched less than a 10-percent performance boost in AnTuTu and Vellamo. And when's the last time you based your smartphone purchase on benchmark scores alone, anyway?

HTC's market value is at an 8-year low; the end may be near

HTC has been on a rough road for a while now. The company has tried to save itself with a more focused approach to its mobile development, and the truly great HTC One. But, having a single great device hasn't been enough, and the company has continued to falter so much that its market value hit an 8-year low last month, prompting new speculation that the end may be near.

Since HTC hit a high in 2011, the company's market value has dropped an incredible 90%. The company is currently valued at $3.8 billion, which is down considerably from its high of $37 billion in 2011, but is still too high to attract a potential buyer. But, analysts believe that like BlackBerry and Nokia, being acquired is where HTC is headed if things don't change. In fact, Bloomberg is saying that HTC's analyst consensus rating is the lowest out of over 500 listed technology companies.

Dennis Chan, an analyst at Yuanta Securities in Taipei says that while HTC's market value is still too high for a merger or acquisition, he doesn't expect the company to be able to turn it around, and thinks that eventually HTC's value will drop enough to attract a buyer. It is unclear how long that will take, but HTC doesn't have any big plans in the works that we know of as a hail mary. We know the HTC One Max is on the way, and there are rumors of a Windows Phone device based on the HTC One, but neither of those are likely to significantly change the fate of the company.

An early build of Android 4.4 has leaked out and for the first time we get to see a very detailed screenshot-backed report of what the upcoming KitKat version looks like. Do not be surprised to see the Key Lime Pie name in the images below as they are obviously of an early version when the KitKat naming decision had not yet been taken.

So what’s new in Android 4.4? The changes in the visuals are there, but they are so very subtle you’d be forgiven to not notice them at all - there is a refreshing recoloring of some elements to white, but it’s under the hood where most changes have happened.

Google has built-in printing into the system so you no longer have to rely on a third-party app. Wireless payments also appear in the menus, so we might hear more about this later this month. The third big new inclusion is support for Wireless screen casting via the Miracast standard built into the system.

When it comes to the actual software, Android 4.4 now comes with a wider set of Google apps. The new arrivals are Google’s note taking app Keep and the cloud based office suite Drive.

The camera app in Android 4.4 has also been noticeably improved with new filters that remind us of Instagram and with a slider allowing you to select the output image quality.

All in all, KitKat seems to be another gradual change in Android with subtle changes rather than a radical redesign. Google itself has said that with Android 4.4 the goal is “to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody.” Still, if you are curious about how it looks, take a look at the screenshots right below.
