Re: Suggest Accessories For Honda City vx mt

I need to know if i need to put some essential accessories and of which brand. I am from lucknow.
Buddy, what ever accessories you may put in the car after purchase, make sure you don't buy it from dealer and end up paying double the amount for it. Essential accessories include (according to me)

* A small kit consisting of screw driver, torch, first aid.

* Air pump for Tyre (compact one)

* Window shades. They come in good quality for 50-100 Rs. for set of 4.

* Bumper guards. (Fouring brand)

* Reverse camera/sensor.

* Car Perfume. (Ambipure or Godrej)

* Floor mats and seat cover (Look for brand named "Elegant")

* Gear Lock (Autocop)

Re: Suggest Accessories For Honda City vx mt

Hi, i have booked honda city vxmt petrol variant, will be getting it early next month. I am actually a total noob in term of cars. I need to know if i need to put some essential accessories and of which brand. I am from lucknow.
Akash1886 has already mentioned about the basic accessories that you should get.

1. Floor mats (3D Kagu or Rubber), Seat Covers and Mudflaps (you'll be having them already in the car I suppose)
2. Magnetic curtains (similar to window shades. Just they fit perfectly and look more premium) - Rs. 800-1200 for the set
3. Rear curtain (Roller type. To protect from the heat and also glares from back at night) - Around Rs. 500
4. Bumper Guards (IMO Genuine ones look best. You can look for local ones, although similar design)
5. Door Guards (iPop and Black Label are the popular brands. It saves the door edges in tight parking spaces, like in malls)
6. PPF on the door handle cups (prevents scratch marks as it is the most prone area. You can get it done at 3M outlets)
7. Front Armrest (decide based on the quality. There are several local manufacturers) - Around Rs. 1000

EDIT- Add a tissue paper box and a tubeless tyre puncture repair kit to the list![;)]

Hello guys.....update from me.I finally changed my stock HU with Pioneer F60BT today and work was done by Motor Concepts Kirti Nagar.I am fully satisfied with the work done and they took approx 3 hrs to do this.
Let me now tell you what all I did.I spoke with the owner and he is a decent chap and helpled me suggesting to go for damping for front doors and change to change component speakers from front and suggested me to with Rainbow one.He even showed me that already installed in one car and I was impressed with that.
So finally I asked him for damping of front doors and to change front components and HU.I am happy with the result of everything and HU fits perfectly.But only one negative that we can't pick or end calls from steering control we can only change music from that so for answering call we need to click on answer on HU or directly from phone.Rest all is fine.
Now you want to know how much damage I had in my pocket.So totally I paid a whopping 70k which is distributed like this

Pioneer HU-42k
Interface and panel-6k
Damping-4800(1200 for a single damping sheet total 4 sheets for front 2 doors)
Rainbow Components-15k
Reverse Camera-1800
Labour -500
Hi
I request you share your experience regarding Head unit Pioneer F60BT.
I have installed Pioneer x8690BT in my Honda City, If we visualize the video played on Headunit from rear seat,its appearing much darker and images apprearing grayed out as angle of head unit slightly inclined (I mean from horizontal it is angled at 110-110 degrees) almost parallel to the dashboard and angle of the backseats are reclined.
However from front seats video is quiet bright and appearing normal.
Do u facing similar issue??
How was video quality when viewed from rear seats

Yes you are right as I tried watching videos from back seat and it appears lil darker as compared while watching from front.But it's not greyish.I guess this is due to the design of the dash board and fitment of the HU.
Anyways did you changed the stock speakers also?????I am now looking to put an amp in it and thinking of general or rock ford brand.What you suggest???

I did changed stock speaker to JBL components in front ,model is old one CX 650 CSI (shop has only this model) and real CX 63si (i dont remember exactly) and but sound quality is awesome to me and with sound level 7 or 8 only its quiet loud. I am not installing any amp or subwoofer. this setup producing decent and quiet loud sound for me and more importanly I need to full boot to have a wheel chair so subwoofer will not spoil the sport here.
and brands of subwoofer i dont know
But JBL Carstage is quiet expensive Speaker package costing above 27k,but its plug and play and no wire cutting etc. includes amp and subwoofer

If you are thinking of powering the stock speakers with the amp, then thats a bad idea. The stock speakers have really low RMS (~20w or something) ratings and go kaput when paired with an amp of ~75w RMS. Would suggest you to upgrade the speakers first and then decide if you really need an amp.

Regarding speaker upgrade, you can get JBL MS series components. I am using them in my Liva and their performance is mind-blowing and extremely good in the JBL range. The price is also pocket-blowing for a JBL, though. [lol] Other options you have are Polk DB6501, Pioneer (bass friendly) and other JBLs (treble friendly). Regarding amp upgrade, you can go for a decent JBL 4 Channel to power all your 4 speakers. RF, GZ, JBL, Pioneer and Kenwood; all are good brands. You just need to compare the RMS and reviews of each. Avoid Sony if possible.

Brother, JBL carstage is a good package (comparing what you get at 27k) but the problem is lack of perfection. You will have to adjust to the SQ you get. You cannot change (or customize) the setup according to your needs.

Though munish_26 can audition the carstage installed in a car, and then decide.

I already got rainbow components in front and sound is good.I am in double mind now as I am thinking to change the rear with rainbow itself and other mind is saying to install amp and get rear components unchanged.Totally confused.

Then it's great! You can get a 4 channel amp and power those front comps as of now. AFA I could understand, you are in two minds and are thinking of the below:

1) Get an amp and power the front comps
2) Get rear fills (and balance the SQ?)

The choice depends upon your problem. If you are having a front-heavy soundstage and want to balance the sound, then you can go with option 2. The rear fills will ensure that the sound is balanced. Go for option 1 only if you think that the comps themselves are not that punchy and powerful as you want them to be. Remember, if you get an amp only and power the Rainbows, the sound stage will be heavy at the front and the rear stock speakers wouldn't be heard.

I would advice Option 2, i.e., Rainbows at the rear also. Use that arrangement for 2/3 months and then add an amp if you really feel the need.

@prasanth11:
A double tone horn would be better any day if you need to move the dumb public out of the way. Roots, Hella, Minda and Bosch are some good brands. Are you interested in trumpet horns or pressure/disc horns?

A single tone horn if used, from a set of horns, would sound weird. You can check at your dealer, he would be having a dual-tone upgrade for the car surely. Do remember that a 30 amp relay and wiring kit would be required for a set of horns. [:)]

Just saw this picture of a new honda city got hood liner installed.I saw this picture on Motor Concept facebook page.I think If we can install this it will surely help in lowering down sound of engine and sound of the belt alternator which we can hear easily while sitting inside the car.
But do tell me will this stuff bear the heat or no.I guess this is the same stuff used in damping doors.

Will not suggest to get this done. This may reduce the sound of the engine but it will also increase the temperature below the bonnet which may lead to other complications including voiding your warranty

No. Its not. Brands like dynamat have a different line of thermal solution products. The door damping insulation is comparitively thin and not heat resistant. There is a totaly different product for floor insulation as well.

You are right. If completely covered the hood it will give adverse effects. But if installed properly leaving any vents and other necessary openings it will not do any harm. Remember such products are available from globally renowned brands like Dynamat, so they must have done their detailed research before launching it worldwide.

You are right that these products are from globally renowed brands. But these brands have not tested Honda City post adding such insulation under the bonnet. Honda has designed the car with particular parameters and heat generated under the bonet is one of them. Now if by adding this Insulation from Dynamat, the under bonet temperature may increase by few degrees or so which may cause melting of components/wires or in worst case a fire.

Unless untill there is extensive testing done by manufacturer or aftermarket global brands, I would not go anywhere near this [:)]. I even heard of few cases where car with Diesel has the cladding and Petrol does not, which when checked with manufacturer if the same cladding can be added to petrol was outrightly denied by them due to the reason I have outlined above
