Hi Folks,

Rear parcel tray have been completed. Also amplifier was designed for my car's dimensions and the products look cool. Just the front face of both amplifiers will be displayed. Not even a single wire will be displayed and also blue led lighting will be given to both amplifiers. Lets see what happens when the install gets over probably by 16th or 17th August.

Regards,
Sankar
It's actually i have made Amplifier's board especially for my car's boot and not the amplifier.

He he.

All the best Sankar. And BTW, will your installer be willing to do a re-install? I have almost all components except a sub and damping installed in my car but now, the music is not as good as it used to be earlier. It happened after I gave my car to colorwheels for painting the door panels and they had to remove and rewire the cross over which I think they might have done wrong. Can you ask your installer whether he would be willing to check out my system and do a re-install if needed and approximately (just a guesstimate) how much it would cost?

Vipin

Just labor charge Vipin. He has no issues with re-installing. Do you need a subwoofer as well?

I secretly wish to own an Infinity reference sub but the problem is that since there is no damping and since I hardly drive the Getz anymore, I wonder whether it will be a good idea.
How much does an Infinity ref sub and box cost approximately? Any idea. I asked one place in Kollam and they mentioned MRP and no discounts!!!

Any reason why you went for Marine speakers for your Car??
No particular reason. I just wanted these Polk DB6501 as they produce some mind blowing bass. Have done some small research and found difference in SQ is not that much evident in these Polk speakers.

Is there any other difference with marine speakers?

Its not marine speakers, its just marine certified hence it can be used on boats.Meaning it has some amount of rust protection from the salty water.

Sankar, wouldn't that panel where you have installed the components vibrate a lot?

What kind of damping have you used on it?

It's not the default panel provided my Maruthi. I have also added a heavy and sturdy rear parcel tray so that the rear Polk speakers can be displayed. And nope it won't vibrate due to good construction as of now. When i go active in my setup, it might vibrate. Will do damping when turning my setup active[:)]

Well, that is why they are termed as Marine speakers. Why I wondered is that these are not something you easily buy off a shelf from ICE shops. These are sourced and are are not used in India as the amount of people having their boats is less. So, just wanted to check if someone has just sold them to sankar telling some sweet stories like "these are special speakers.." etc and has he been duped for a premium for these speakers.

For someone who doesn't know that these are more or less just like normal speakers, they surely can get duped. These would be a bit expensive than normal ones but not astronomically. These will last a lot longer too and sound much better too.

Lasting longer could be true, could be. But sounding better is wrong. The extra coating on the voice coil actually reduces the impedance and increases resistance and hence these have a sound signature a bit inferior to the non-marine similar ones.
