Re: “Thunderbolt” XUV 5OO Detailed Review (Decals, Audio, LED, Mods++)

the hid kit just came in.

Boy! what quality. these are genuine AC ballasts compared to generic eBay crap. I'll install them on Sunday and maybe post a Guide.
Price of the same?

3,545 A Pair.
Ive ordered H8 for Fogs and H7 for Low beams. Both 4300K.
I am just uploading pics and making a Guide/Review. Oh I'm pleased with the results..[clap][lol]

Kinshuk where did you mount Ballasts for Low beam?> Kindly Post pics of your install. The engine bay is more cramped than anything!

H27 For my i10 is not available yet. I've told the seller to make an custom order for me. I will update them too.

Re: “Thunderbolt” XUV 5OO Detailed Review (Decals, Audio, LED, Mods++)

Bro how much kelvin is the stock bulb in XUV for the high beam. I know that its a H7 55w but no idea about Kelvin.
My left high beam bulb went kaput so i need to change it. Going to the dealership means half my day gone. So I went to one of my car accessories guy but he had no idea about the kelvin.
And if i want to change my low beam bulbs which one should I go for? Which should increase the light throw visibility.

Ballasts hI have stuck with double sided tapes and insulation tapes to the shocker mounting point. that is the only place flat enough.

stock halogens are always 3500k.
don't bother with the kelvin. buy simple uncoated halogen bulbs in 55w. they're all the same.

what I've noticed that xuv h7s have very poor life. I've blown 2 bulbs in 40k kms and other 2 are getting dark (ready to die ). hence my decision to go for a quality HID kit and nail it forever.

for better light throw, again 4300k hid is only option. don't fall for any stupid blue tinted bulbs or extreme vision bulbs. they're all crap.

did you extend the cabling?
I don't think my kit will go that far. I was thinking below the Battery or something.

mods- kindly turn off the stupid mobile view. it's unnecessary and is messing things up.

Thanks bro. Any suggestions for a particular kind of bulb? This is my second bulb I guess that went kaput in 62K kms.
Someone told me to go for knightrider bulbs H7. Is it a good option to consider?

I'll suggest going for Hella or osram h7 55w.lamps in case you're going for a quick replacement.

all the bulbs I've had fail quickly are Philips, so stay away from Philips. however, my thoughts-
1. incandescent 55w bulbs have very poor life and also poor illumination. they'll cost about 1 or 1.5k a pair. you'll spend over 5 k on bulbs in 5 years.

2..installing bulbs in xuv is a pain. you have to undo the Battery and coolant tank depending on side.

3. HID kit are available for just 4k or below and it's a no brainer. they last for the lifetime of the vehicle, provide over thrice the illumination and also burn cooler /lower power consumption.
I'll give you the contact of seller if you like.

4. I have procured hid for low beam and fog lamps. please don't install hid in high beam. also stay away from 6000k hid. highest you can go is 5000k.

Mr.. singh, give a good thought to this.

I want to change the Speakers for my XUV 500 W10.Can you please suggest the Speakers which exactly matches with the Company fitted and without any change in the Wiring and Size of the speaker.
Note:- I am not a Music enthu. But the Quality of the speakers making me disappointed. So decided to change the Speakers alone. Not the Tweaters. Also I dont want to spend much on the same.

Thanks in advance for your suggestion.

I guess I have already replied. if you go for 4 inch speakers in 40-80w rms range , these will work without overloading your factory HU. I'll suggest jbl, kicker, Sony, focal, Rockford fosgate depending on your budget.

HOWEVER, To unleash full potential, you'll need an amp..for these, rca outputs are available behind the dashboard. if you go to the first page of this thread, you can see amp install pics and all (via links )

good luck.

I'll go for HID's in about 2 months. I am planning to go for P8 HID kit. Got it installed in my cousins fortuner and we are impressed with the quality.
And how about Osram H7 nightbreaker unlimited bulbs for the low beam? And i'll put the bulbs used in low beam to high beams.

If those are blue tinted ones, stay away.
Anyways the incandescent 55w is a piss poor spec and geenrates like 1000~1200 Lumens give or take. No amount of magic or marketing will give you like 2000 Lumens straight. Unless the magic is HID.

I guess p8 HIDs are about 12k a set. Very nice choice.

So before putting those Osram bulbs, just wanted to ask you that will be there be a significant improvement in the light throw and visibility?

We got 2 sets of P8 for Rs 18500/- in my cousins fortuner. I guess that P8 HID kit is expensive at your place. We got the 4300 Kelvin bulbs and the best part is that the visibility remains good during rains as well.
