If Not Indica, Which Car Should Have Been in Taxi Segment?

i have seen lot of taxi indicas on road. today i just wondered if not indicas which car would have been in its place. could it be ambassador? but amby is too outdated for a taxi .

Dezire's can be seen as taxis as well, apart from Logan and indica

amiti , i wonder you havent TD nano yet. i give full mark for a Nano as a next gen family car due to its vfm and economy. little bit of upgrades and it becomes perfect .
it is way better than maruthi alto and 800.

Dezire's can be seen as taxis as well,

dezire ,taxi walas are not very much happy due to up keeping and maintenance cost where as indica is most economical presently.

If not Indica; then surely the Logan/Verito would have earned a lot of fare to Taxiwalas.

any car from tata or mahindra stable due to availability of spares & maintenance issues.

taxis mainly need NA/ turbo diesels , not the crdi engines. the maintenance cost is too much for them

Good question Jayadev! I think Logan was launched a lot later than Indica. If not for the Indica , i think Sumo would have ruled the taxi segment till Logan arrived.

I have seen Swifts/DZires and SX4s as taxis here in mumbai. CoolCab ones in silver and blue combination. Even there are plenty of Innovas in the list...

No, I haven't driven the nano as yet, hence cannot comment on it. However looking at the mileage figures and comparing the cost with auto rikshaw, i still feel it's a safe bet for passengers and it's mileage is also good.

When tata launches diesel nano, then I can see current auto rikshaws getting scraped. Another point is they create lot of pollution too.

In my city, two FIAt UNO's are in yellow board more than 6yrs.

i have seen fiat punto in yellow board with TN registration...!!!

logan is still expensive for an average taxi owner and short of service support

an indica diesal returns an average of 20-26 kmpl as per one taxi driver. and for him indica is more profitable than any other cars .
