Re: If Not Indica, Which Car Should Have Been in Taxi Segment?

Since 2000 Indica is Indian market.
If not indica then from that era Premier Padmini would have ruled taxi segment.

I would say the Logan is perfect taxi material. Spacious, comfortable, fuel efficient & has got an enormous boot.

+1. I feel Logan and Indigo are 2 cars which are best suited for taxi segment. Both these cars offers excellent fe, comfort(especially Indigo) and cheap maintenance which are the key factors responsible for the car to have achieved such a grand success in commercial segment.

Re: If Not Indica, Which Car Should Have Been in Taxi Segment?

Almost all the cars available in the Indian market have been in the taxi segment including mercs BMs. But to be practical there is no subtitute for the Indica, Indigo or at the most Logan post Premier Padmini era in terms of practicality, availablity of spares, cost of maintenance.

My verdict Indica for cabs and Nano to replace all the 3 wheelers

The nuissance of introducing Santro, i10, Wagon R, Zen etc. as taxis in Mumbai is that once we come out of the Airport after taking a pre paid cool cab ticket, then its a disturbing wait if the luggage is more than a handbag.

These petrol vehicles are converted to gas by these small time operators - so no space for luggage.

More over its not safe becuase in most of the cases conversion from petrol to LPG is done by local/unbranded makers and workshops.

Almost all Tata cars are well built with tough body.except for the interior plastics they remains rigid for longer duration than competing cars.
