Posting answers instead of constructive points will not get us anywhere! If someone took their time to write something, at least give them a proper reply. Not treat those posts like some joke!

What's with "Inform him!", "I didn't say", "No one asked" kinda replies gonna do to this thread?
When someone gives you a honest answer you are not prepared to accept it. You want us the give the answer you want to hear. And that answer is "Hyundai's are good handlers". Sorry I can't give you that answer.

Dude, we all know every cars has it's pros & cons. And we are trying our best to educate people in various forums.
That is what I am doing too. Unfortunately my answer is not the one you like. But that's the way it is in a forum.

And there is no issue with that et al! But the real problem was someone who only state the cons and emphasize it over pros, and thus not suggesting the particular car, which can suit for the buyers needs! Got it?
Yes it is very important to highlight the cons. You need to know them before buying. If you find out after buying its not very pleasant. However if you find out some good points after buying it is a pleasant experience.

I wish I can give you more elaborate example, but by after going through your last reply, I lost hope. So I am not gonna repeat what I wrote a couple of posts earlier.

So this is they way Forums work.
- Everyone joins voluntarily.
- No one is paid to post. Everyone does it for passion.
- No one intentionally posts wrong information. We are all interested in the well being of other members.
- When you post a query should be prepared for all sorts of answers.
- Some people post based on personal experiences, or experiences of others or some data available. Some just post their personal opinion or sometimes wrong info.
- It's your job to filter out the posts.
- You cannot tell people what to post and what not to. If you don't like a suggestion, don't follow it. You can always state your reason for doing so if you wish.

Here are the possible things one can do:
1. Just pick any one post which you like and blindly follow the recommendations.
2. Just reject all suggestions and buy the car / bike you want to.
3. Follow the recommendation given by majority of the posters.
4. Note down the pros & cons listed by everyone for each car / bike. Then when you do a TD, check if they are true and if so whether you can live with it or not. List it out in a tabular form and then prioritise each point and take a decision on what to buy.

I never expected anyone to accept that "Hyundai's are good handler". Just suggest with your head over heart. Why? Because the other person is not you!! Tada!

Sorry if I didn't made myself clear earlier. Once again, it was never my intention to make people say "<insert-any-brand>'s are good handler".

[confused] Isn't that what I said? Highlighting the cons is necessary, but on the other hand, only telling them a con and shoo away from brand. Instead why not give him the whole picture and educate them? Everyone here knows Swift brakes(except, Z series) is crappy, but why no one ever mentioned it any suggestions? So this is how you highlight "Cons"? But when it comes to Hyundai's, everyone starts jumping and trash them! Is this how members of forums are supposed to be?

You highlight cons, but not only cons! Give them everything we know and let the decide, instead of making him hate a brand just because of one con that one brand have?

So this is they way Forums work.

Duh! I didn't know this before. Thanks for putting this valuable info....[sleep]

Now, of all the posts you made, the highlighted part is the one that makes perfect sense. And that is what I am trying to write(exhausted!!!) all the time.

I have no right to ask anyone what to write and what not to! I strongly respect the freedom of speech, but I can't tolerate when someone give bad advice for some uneducated(auto sector!) poor soul. Is that a crime?

[frustration]

How can you say this!! Any car, maintained well will tend to give better mileage figures than poorly maintained one! Just don't blame on a engine!
I will show my service record also Mr.Furious not only for one Hyundai ,3 hyundai's
2 xings and 1 verna.(You said well maintaining, its my reply that its well maintained)

Only thing i will add is they are great performers now also, that i admit 100%,i have never felt any lag in their power, only their fuel economy is a concern with their Engines.

Theortically its correct,More the power ,lesser the Mileage.

I have never skipped any services in these 3 rides(2 of them from my own family, one my neighnour's)- All 3 serviced at ASS here.[:)]

@VISHNUCARCRAZY

I don't know about that. But our Santro & Accent, kept us happy with it's FE even after it hit 1.2 lakhs & 1lakh kms. But the we sold it for bigger car! There are lot of factors that may affect FE over long run. Even our belowed SX4, now started giving poor FE because of the way my uncle drives. Since it is your family car, means you are not the only driver. In that case, how can you vouch for driving style of other people who use the cars?

Be it any car, tend to give poor FE, due to lot of factors and not only Hyundai's. Just because we give it to A.S.S doesn't mean it is well maintained. A lot depends on how we drive, abuse we put on our car etc. Got it?

If I say Hyundai one more time, P3T3R will label me as one-sided! [:D]

Dear @AHC,
I didn't hated hyundai for waiting period though 8 months was a ridiculous period to wait for. What I wanted to tell that this waiting period & the price of the car made me curious to find out the reasons behind it.

In first gen Verna, people were criticising it for boat like ride due to soft suspension setup. Then the steering experience. My reason for hating hyundai was despite superb sales figures of verna then onwards and hence adequate funds , they didn't spent much (either funds or expertise) on upgrade of the suspension & steering. If at all they have spent it is not evident while TD of 2014 Verna , though there is some improvement. During my TD in this Jan, Verna suspension did crashed(making a noise as if a steel vessel is banged on other) on a moderate pothole where fiesta 2014 & Linea 2014 glided without any problem. In such scenario, one is bound to ask a question that why the Verna is costing 1 to 2 L more
than Fiesta or Linea. Hence I felt that Hyundai is taking undue disadvantage of their reputation in Indian market.

@fd,AFA title of this thread is concerned, practically, the sales charts of hyundai cars and their counterparts shows that number of Hyundai lovers is more than that of haters.
It is only few driving loving people who bash them for the steering & suspension(handling, ride) And they do move to some other brands, and whenever a TAI ger asks for their opinion on hyundai vs competition, they oblige.
I think there is nothing wrong in it, hope hyundai listen to them & improve, That would be good for automobile loving community here.

+1 to that Tornado. when somebody asks for advice everybody has the right to express their views, isnt that the beauty of a forum where its discussed and a conclusion is got. isnt that supposed to be the way to arrive at a solution. yes however i do agree that without experiencing it ourselves and just by word of mouth if we give a verdict that would mean that we are just blindly getting into conclusions. I guess that's the point FD wanted to make. but nevertheless i took a test drive of a Verna early this Feb and the suspension was fine no sound's infact it was way improved than the previous verna's. however i hadn't done it at 100-120 my speed was around 80 so cant comment on steering response.

@ 80 the steering response was good. As I said I don't test drive like fifth gear drivers for me for my speed the steering was smooth and cornered well.at corners may be my speed was around 60 and it cornered well for a city ride I think it's good. May be later next month will do a long stretch on my friends Verna.will let you know how it responded then.

Furious Driver, Why do I feel that you do not want normal drivers to experience the goodness in cars other than Hyundai? I mean, if you are not an enthusiast (God knows if they are creatures specially blessed by God) now, you should never become one?? See, when the so called enthusiasts tell that the steering and handlinng of Hyundai are not par with some other cars in competition - they are not lying, are they??

Let us agree to one fact, Hyundai cars I have driven (I have not driven an Elite i20 or the facelifted Verna) had very very light steering both in City and Highways. It also had me nervous with the handling during quick overtakes and lane changes. As I have mentioned before, the car I regularly drive is a Dzire and that could be the reason why I felt so with the Hyundais. Let me also add, I felt the same nervousness with my F-I-L's Bolero.

When someone say about Hyundai's steering and handling, they are alerting a normal buyer, who MIGHT not be aware of that. When they suggest a different car, they are not forcing it on them, they are SUGGESTING. By suggestion, the option is still with the buyer - He can test drive both the cars and choose what is appropriate to him. Who knows, someone who considers himself a non-enthusiast might just become one when he tries out a Fiat or a Ford.

The beauty of the forum is the way everyone is open with their opinions - I am not with people coming in with prejudices and who judge products even without trying but only with people who state their experiences. Let us all give our views and let the buyer go with what they feels is best suited for them.

@Vignesh_k

I am not limiting any one from suggesting any other car than Hyundai. As I have already explained somewhere in this lost thread, if a person need easy to drive city car and he is okay with light steering, then why not suggest Hyundai along with other car? This is what I don't understand.

I agree, if people want car with best-est(I don't think this is even a word [:D]) handling car, then I am not going to suggest him Hyundai. We have a lot of option for him, but for the 1st case, why suggest a Punto over Grand just because stating steering is lifeless?

Got it? It has become a trend in this forum(or any auto forum for that case), to bash Hyundai and it becomes mainstream. If you don't like Hyundai, stay away from it. But if a person, with no knowledge comes to you for help, and chances that he might light Hyundai is there. But people simply strike it off the list and give suggestion. Is that how forums work? We should list out all pros and cons, and let them decide. But instead, people tend to give options like Polo/Swift/Punto and forget to even mention i20 because the steering is blah blah!

I never liked Verito for it's very heavy steering and long clutch throw, but I never stopped suggesting it for people who it might be fit. Just because I disliked, doesn't stop me from suggesting it for people. Now that is what I expect from people in TAI, who are well educated in auto scenario to consider.

Hyundai cars have been successful in Indian Maeket because of thier offerings. Majority of the cars are under 10 lakh price bracket. Most buyers prefer this price range for thier car. And having more products would simply mean more sales numbers. Hyundai has been very successful in capturing the market for cars in this price range. If you look at thier product portfolio, All cars from Eon to i20 Active, all have been hit. These cars offered something rhat made them hit. Here's my take on them one by one

1. Santro - It was 1st big hit from Hyundai, mainly due to tall boy design, excellent engine, choice of AT gearbox, all at a cheaper price. Many Santro bus were mainly city commuters and hence handling, steering feel went important.

2. Eon - It was developed as an Alto rival, but it didn't manage to dethrone the mighty Alto which is still the highest selling car, what instead the Eon offered is much better design inside & out along with efficient petrol engine. Like most Hyundai, this to was loaded with features such as Driver Airbag, Integrated Audio. All the Eons you see on road are used secondary cars by the owners. It sells 6-7k/month which is decent enough.

3. i10 - This was a big revelation in 2007, it was cheaper and more loaded then Swift and was offered with AT gearbox which the Swift lacks still now. It had everything the small car buyer required. Though it didn't sell as much as Swift which was due to lack of Diesel Engine.

4. i20 - First Premium Hatchback from Hyundai was off to a poor start, it didn't sell well in early stages. It was priced higher then most other hatchbacks. Hyundai didn't have that much of hope in selling the i20, they launched it here because it was exported from India. But after 7 months, Honda launched Jazz pricing it much higher then anyother car, this gave opportunity for buyers to look at the now VFM i20 instead of Jazz. The Jazz which is Honda's best seller worldwide became flop in India, while the i20 which the company didn't have much hopes for became a success. Again apart from Price, this car had everything the buyers wanted. Good Styling, decent Engines, feature list, good after sales were its key USPs. The i20 is the most desirable premium hatch in India for many.

5. Grand i10 - a successor to the i10 worldwide, Hyundai India choose to sell this new gen along with old one. The old one was doing well and they didn't want to stop it immediately. Hyundai did some design changes and launched it with Diesel heart. pricing was lower then Swift and was well equipped. It is the 2nd highest selling car for Hyundai.

6. i20 / i20 Active - This car totally changed the way people look at hatchback, the main success for it lies in what it offered. It had European styling, which will appeal to people of all ages. in rest of the areas, it was an improvement over old i20. This gave it the appeal to be succesful and be most desirable car for hatchback seekers under 10 lakhs price range in India.

This makes us conclude that Hyundai cars have all the required bases covered for people who prefer car for city drives and occasional long drives. This is where Hyundais are very good at and hence you'll see them being highest selling after Maruti despite having weaknesses.

I as an enthusiast, will give preference to Dynamics when buying/ recommending a car.
