Personally I found turanza 60 ER softer than potenza RE 88. Also it is looking wider despite same specs. So now 'comfort ' factor will decide choice.
If you drive on bad roads don't you think a harder rubber will give you bumpy ride where as softer rubber will take the shocks & give you smoother ride?

THe tyre dealer gave me this reason for why people buy XM2 if you drive on bad roads its the smoothest tyre with lesser noise but (logically) will have lesser life as the softer rubber is taking all the shocks without passing much of it to the suspensions.
The dealer said Turanza is more comfy than potenza while potenza has more life span than Turanza .
I agree his logic matches what I just said above, potenza will give you more life but bumpy ride.
Read the review 2 users confirm the same

One says
Great, strong tyres, suitable for heavy cars! The wear rate is excellent! However, they are noisy and tend to understeer when the road is wet and cold.
Another says
The tyre seems to be OK though the drive comfort is not that good. The tyre life and noise is satisfactory though the performance in braking on both dry and wet conditions is pretty good.
Where as there are more users of turanza which are the exact match of what the OEM tyre were fitted on manza had when you bought it, mine are same too & going to last easily 60000kms.

One more dealer said he has got Falken 195/60 R 15 which is as soft as PLC Michelin and comfortable too.@5250 wAWB nitro gen valves FOC.

Falken comes with ' sidewall cut warranty' which doesn't come for michelin , BS !
Now what to do ?

Don't go for falken, they won't last long.

I am using Turanza, it is good but not as good as Potenza.

Potenza will last longer as well.

Get potenza's, I am using it in my car.

The handling and braking has improved a lot. The braking at wet conditions is also good. I cant comment on life of the tires as I have just driven just 4k kms on it.

The thread pattern is differnt from others and provide more grip, also it helps the water to seep out easily.

The entire car's dynamics would be changed.
Though I feel its a bit bumpy on rough roads, but can be ignored.

whether it is potenza or turanza , by virtue of ' upsizing' comfort , grip , braking is bound to improve . also decrease in FE (MARGINAL) is bound to occur , also steering will become heavy.
Manza steering is HPS and is heavier than EPS . I won't like too much heaviness of the steering.

For better steering manuvourability and comfortable ride(combination of both factors) which one is better ?

@varun , I am going for upsize so bumpiness is expected to be lesser than the stock size , Do you still think , potenza would give me a bumpier ride ?

@gypsy , I felt turanza soft but thought that softness is due to less time since manufacturing date.as compared to potenza .
Please let me know , which tire is softer as compared to other provided that they are manufactured on same date

Turanza is harder than Potenza.I am using the ER60 so I know from first hand experience it is harder and more noisier than the Potenza.

Since Potenza is a performance oriented tire they have used a softer compound compared to the Turanza.Hence you get more grip than the Turanza.

I think there will be good amount of difference when you compare Turanza running on M800 and fitted on Manza diesel in terms of weight of the car and length of the car and wheelbase and many other factors, so both(fitted on M800,Manza) the experiences may not be the same with Turanza or Potenza. So all in all Tornado has to check the tyre behavior on Manza diesel cars from the owners on the forum. No offence on your or my suggestions here [:)]

No offence but you drive a Ritz, how is your suggestion any different from mine?

Try to understand the basic thing here, there is no car that is more direct than the 800.No power steering here, so if a tire is heavy you will feel it directly on the steering. There is no ecu and no pump here so if a tire looses traction, you can feel it directly.Same goes for any bumps in the road.

The size of the tire may be different but the construction is the same.If there is a small problem in the tire size for the 800 then that same problem will be amplified due to the increased size for the Manza.

The ER 60 is meant for smaller cars. The ER300 is meant for sedans etc.It comes as standard fitment on the Corolla Altis. It is the same size that Tornado wants to fit.

I think going by just the name Turnza-It is meant for touring, this tire will do more miles.Heavier on the steering.

Potenza-More performance oriented.Higher max speed and better grip.It is lighter on the steering as well.

My intention was not to just talk about M800 as it can be any car. But for example my previous car was M800 and I have got an experience of Appolo and MRF on them. Now My experience with the Ritz Diesel and its tyres is different as the car is tall boy type and I know how the stock JKs are behaving on this car(not a very good experience), but I have seen JKs doing excellent job on an Alto with very good comfort. So my whole meaning is tyres and their pattern might be same either of size and model, but their behavior differ from a small hatch to big sedan[:)]. Hope I have explained it well and what is the experience of different tyres on Manza need to be examined and Tornado needs it very much rather than my experience of JK or Turanza on Ritz.

So finally when we talk about the comfort of X tyre on Manza, a Manza owner can give a proper idea that how it behaves. And we can suggest the tyre brands their specialties as documented

The tire pattern in the same and the tread design in the same too.Hence there will be no difference how the ER60 behave on the 800 or the Manza.
I think you should have checked the tread pattern in all the sizes. You will find them to be the same.Just the size is larger because of the increased rim diameter.
As far as JK goes I have mentioned they were utterly horrible and puncture ridden on my 800.

@jarpickle

Let me explain you once again, if I am not wrong

ER 60 pattern will be same either it is R12 or R15, but

Tyre behavior differ with 12" to 15"
Tyre behavior differ when the section is 145 to 235
Tyre behavior differ when it is with a small petrol hatch to big diesel sedan
Tyre behavior differ when a car with petrol engine and with diesel engine due to their weights
Tyre behavior differ based on the wheel base
Tyre behavior differ between a tall boy hatch and a sedan/SUV
