Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

Thanks for those pics Sandykudva. Throw from the HID's seem to be pretty decent. And regarding the alloy wheel, the first one looks absolutely stunning. Try getting your hands on these and I am sure your Polo will stand out from the rest even from a good amount of distance.

Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

@ GM88 : Yes the HID do a decent Job but a lot better than the stock ones. I stuck to theses as my major driving with this one is in the city. For highway runs have the Innova. If i had a bit of highway runs on this would have surely opted for the 4300K 55W HID.
About the Alloys i am completely in love with the first design but the issue is i had got the picture from google. Have not been able to find the same design yet but have found some that matches atleast 90% of the Pic so have asked for the Quote from the dealer.

Sandy, which size are you considering? Are you retaining 15 inch or buying 17 inch alloys? My suggestion is to get Lenso Conquista 4 for your Polo.It looks brilliant.

Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

@ Music_Swift : I will be going in for the stock 15 inch alloys only as the tyre's are just about 3000 kms old. But the main reason with not upgrading the wheel size is due to stiff ride. I have ugraded the Alloy size of my earlier cars, it does give the sporty look but it hits the ride quality of the car very badly. The roads here in mumbai have more number of potholes and bad patches than the plain road. I use to have a lot of complains by my family member or my dad whenever he drove the car about the ride quality. hence decide from that time to upgrade the width of the tyre upto a certain extent but never change the stock size of the alloy.

The one that you have suggested me is

Lenso Conquista 4 ( Looks good but design looks a bit common to me and also have to see if they are available in 15 but will surely keep this in the option)

uxz1356752445.jpg

These are the ones i am trying to find they are a copy of the BBS alloys with slight change in the finish. I have found one providing the same design. the price is 20 k for set of 4 now just waiting for my Spare alloys to get knocked off.
The ones that i had first checked out on Google
cades_bern_black_alloy_wheel.jpg

Original BBS

Unfortunately i cant save the image of the Alloys which are i found due to copyright of the image but it is the exact replica of the BBS with a different brand

Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

A Few more days before i complete 4 Months with this beauty that entered my life. The journey as of yet is just about 3500 Kms but there is a long way to go from here. Its just the beginning of the journey.

20131116_082656.jpg

Initially the car did not impress me that much due to the excessive Turbo lag due to which it was very difficult for me to drive it in the city. I felt like what has dad purchased ?? this was all due to my earlier beast the corolla.

DSC_0001.jpg

But as time passed by, the more I drove it the more I fell in love with the car. Actually I learnt one thing after driving this car i.e the turbo lag can easily be reduced to almost no lag if you are aware of when to change the gears and where to keep the rev zone of the car in case you want a sudden surge of power.

20131116_082725.jpg

I know 3500 kms is nothing but still it has been a hell of a journey for me and there is more left to it.

I have mentioned in my earlier posts also but again would like to write it here

What I Love about the car

- The best looking hatchback by my opinion
- The European Build quality meant to last through the battering of the indian roads
- Simple Dashboard layout with a premium feel.
- Air Con is a Chiller
- High speed stability
- The Mid Range of the engine i.e after the Turbo kicks in is really addictive
- NVH level maintained very well inside the cabin
- Flip keys
- Audio quality is really good for a stock system
- Very good average for city driving considering my hard acceleration nature.( average fuel consumption till now 15km/ltr only city driving )
- Good Boot space

What I Don’t like about the car

- Noisy 3 Pot Tdi engine
- Cramped up interiors
- A top end model does not have steering mounted controls and music system with just CD player and no option for USB, Aux & Bluetooth ( This point is for my model which is a 2010 model the lateron models got these features )

When I received the car it was a looker for sure but still I wanted to do it up so that it could stand out in the group of Polo’s that are on the road. I dint want to change it a lot I wanted its stock look with a bit of sporty character to it. So from that day till today it has finally reached my expectations on how I wanted it to look.

I know i had shown some images of the alloys earlier but the design which i wanted was no where available in mumbai, of course i had got the image from google so it could be a design from any part of the world. The BBS surely not in my budget at all. The others which i had shown some how did not go well with the car it gave a very dull effect to the car ( Personal View ). These looked decent enough on the ride so put these also got a good deal and a good exchange rate for my stock so went for these. Music Swift thanks for providing the option but in the end went with this.

Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

@Sandy, your polo is just absolutely stunning. May I ask how much you picked up your Polo for? Since I am also in the market for a used Polo or i20 Diesel so I just want to get a rough idea. And also I would want to fit the HU of the newer Polos which has usb, bluetooth and aux which i have seen in my friend's Polo. Is it possible to make the switch?

Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

@ type-r : Thanks for the appreciation bro. Your location is Noida and the prices differ in every state and city. I wont give the exact figure but my family picked it up between 4.75 L & 5 L. Mine is a September 2010 Highline Model the car had done 41700 Kms on purchase and had complete service history. The car was maintained by VW from the time it was purchased by the first owner till the time i purchased it. The Price range here in Mumbai for a Trendline of the same year variates from 4.15 to 4.35 L . Comparatively we paid a little more for this but that is due to complete service history and a VIP number of 786 & Excellent Condition.
About the Tape yes you can directly fit the Head Unit with Bluetooth, USB, Aux & Mcard without any changes needed the tape number is RCD 320 but yes if you plan on upgrading to the Touch Screen RCD 510 then it requires a lot of changes and adjustments.
The Hyundai I 20 of the same here and Magna version is available for around 4.25 to 4.5 L and a Sports or Asta will be availbale for around 4.75 to 5.25L.

P.S: Please check the complete History of a Diesel car if possible because these cars are pretty expensive to maintain. In a used car there is no guarantee but if you have an idea of what has been replaced earlier then you have a rough idea of what will be required to be done from your side in the future.

Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

thank you sir. I think I will switch to RCD 320 only not the 510. I came across a 2011 Highline model done 17,500 kms for 4.25L and it was in my favorite red shade too. but it got sold out before i could even contact the seller.

Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

@ type-r : Dont make me look old bro by calling me sir. Yes an RCD 320 should be available to you for around 4-5 K, dont spend anything more than that as even the person selling you will have no other buyers but a VW chap and most of the VW people upgrade to a RCD 510 so you have a good chance of bargain. I was getting a RCD 320 for 5k and a RCD 510 for 10k but dint opt for both as the RCD 320 will just have the USB/AUX function as an extra and the RCD 510 will have lot of fitting headaches.I will mostly upgrade to a Pioneer touch screen in the future it might change the look of the dashboard but will at least give the option to adjust the sound quality which these stock units don't. Dont worry you will get a better car. As i said the price vary in every state and Noida looks pretty cheap compared to Mumbai.

Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

Just finished reading of your thread completely. Very nicely explained about all the details for car which is very helpful for other Polo owners.
When I saw your car last week, I didn't know that she is almost 3 years old I come to know that with your thread only. Very nice look after and maintained. [:)]
Love yours mods on the car, that mat black roof compliments your car with chunky look headlamps. Alloys are also cool, as you said your googled choice is very nice but considering practicality this does decent job. [clap]
I am also looking to do mods on my cars light after getting enough Vitamin M, hope you'll help that time. [:D]

Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

Hey Harshad thanks for the appreciation bro. The Polo owners out here are much more advanced then me.
Well she is almost 3 years and 6 months old. We usually keep our cars in such a manner and usually whenever we sell it off after 2 years it is a friend only who buys it as je is aware of the way the car is maintained and pampered.
Well i always had in mind that whenever we will buy a whit car i will get the roof blackened. About the headlamps a long research and trials took place and then finally the result of it is what you see.
About the alloys yes i googled few designs but my bad they were not available in india here also the black ones that the shop had did not go well with the car. Finally found the present one pretty decent on the overall look.
I am saying that its complete for the moment but mods are never complete. You are always tempted to keep on trying new stuff.
Bro Vitamin M is the biggest problem and hitch for everyone. Will surely help you in your mods. If its help regarding cars i am always there for it.

Sandy

It looks like you are trying to sell your Polo? I saw an ad in the classifieds section of the other popular forum [:P]. What are you planning on replacing her with? I hope the Polo GT TDI [:P]

Vipin

Well in a couple of days its going to be 6 months since this beauty entered our life. The car as of now has completed about 6500 kms with me. Yes there have been a couple of hiccups in the past month with the beauty but now alls fine. The more i drive this car the more it grows over me. Well it aint the most fastest hatch in the market nor is it the most powerful hatch, all i can say that it has enough fire power in it to bring a smile on your face when you drive it. It is by far the sexiest hatch i have ever come across in india and still waiting for a competition ( Personal Opinion ).

DSC_0002.JPG

The last six months with this beauty have been like a roller coaster ride with the last few weeks going on a steep down but then after a lot of fight from me and my beauty we are back on the up track.

DSC_0003.jpg

New Updates that have taken place after the above mentioned ones are as follows

Mechanically

- New EGR Vaccum switch
- New Turbo Hose pipe
- New EGR Cooler ( A pretty expensive part but got it replaced under warranty from company after a lot of fights with the company and service center )
- Servicing Done including oil change & filter change

Accessories

- HID 6000k for fog lamps
- AC Vents ( Old ones were broken )
- Spoiler with Vinyl wrap

Planned for future

- Grill Modification
- Exhaust Can for a bit of bassy sound
.

DSC_0004.JPG

Have spent a lot on the car considering the fact that i wont be keeping it much but its one killer looking car and surely needed all those things to give it the HATKE look.

Have taken the car out for 2 short trips of 500kms each it was a pleasure driving this car on the highway, usually whenever we would go on the innova the moment i would be nearing 100 km/hr my father would come to know due to the vibrations and engine noise creeping inside the cabin but with this the car even when on 120 feels like its going on 60-70 km/hr, it gives you a good confidence to drive these cars on the highway.

My experience with the Volkswagen Service Center is the same as that of the majority of the VW owners i.e pathetic. They are one of the most helpless service centers i have ever seen for a car company. The smallest example of their knowledge i can give is that when i was in the workshop the mechanics were arguing with me that the Vento TSI is a 3 cylinder engine and not a 4 cylinder engine

The best average i have got from the vehicle is about 19 km/ltr and the worst being 12.5 km/ltr and this is completely on heavy foot but most of the time i get an average of around 15-16 km/ltr.

DSC_0005.JPG

At first when purchased i was really annoyed with the sluggishness of the car but as time grew i have learnt the art of keeping the car in or near the Turbo zone reducing the lag. I wont say its a rocket but has enough punch to keep up and sometimes race across all the hatches and entry level sedans. The only time i really had to face a disappointment was with its own brother that is the Polo TSI, the 1.2 litre Turbocharged engine with a perfectly mated 7 speed DSG is a real small rocket.
Even had the opportunity of getting a Polo TSi and just could have swapped my accessories on it but the biggest disappointment with this car that i still hate about it is the cramped up interior space.
Well will continue the journey with the beauty for some more time and hope she keeps me smiling the way it has kept till now.
