VW Polo India production to begin on 12th of this month

Speaking to a local newspaper, VW’s spokesperson said production of the Polo hatchback will begin on the 12th of this month in the company’s newly constructed facility in Pune. The company had been carrying out trail production and putting things in order over the last few months.

Kurt Rippholz, head of communication, Volkswagen group -

With our small and compact Polo car, we are in the right market with the right product,” he said adding the Indian market is huge as 1.3 million cars are expected to be sold this year

The VW Polo won the coveted European Car of the year award this Monday beating the likes of Toyota iQ, Opel Astra, Skoda Yeti and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Volkswagen Polo Bookings @ Bangalore!

The Volkswagen Polo, which is yet to make an Indian entry, has begun calling for its customers. The booking for the Polo have started and in the ‘Silicon Valley of India’, Bangalore, the initial booking can be done with an amount of just 50 grand!

The Volkswagen Polo hatchback will debut in India by the end of the first quarter of the next year. But the car will be displayed at the upcoming 2010 Delhi Auto Expo. It will be launched in India in both petrol and diesel engine variants. The sedan version of the Polo is also India-bound, but no details have been received regarding the launch in India.

Volkswagen has already opened the prior bookings on the Polo hatch from 1st Dec 2009. The Volkswagen Polo will be priced between Rs 4.5 -7 Lakh in India. Recently, the Volkswagen Polo was been voted as the European Car of the Year 2010.
The dealers claim that they do not have much information about the technical specifications, colours, engine capacity and the features of the Polo.

I wonder how people will book the cars if the dealers don know the technical specifications , colour , features of the car!!

BTW the pricing is great!!

Nothing to be surprised Zinam. Polo is in that category only. This is going to be killer price, if the maintenance cost is in par with FIAT. Don't know whether WV will launch the GTI version as well! If ASS is affordable, then this will be huge hit for sure.

RSM, the interior pics is that of a left hand drive and I am sure there is going to be some cost cutting for India [;)].

One of my colleagues saw it on the roads here and did not find it very good to look at. BTW he owns a Skoda Fabia and is a big fan of VW vehicles as well.
