Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

friends, what's the difference between insurance with bumper to bumper and without the same .
Bumper to bumper or Zero Dep insurance are ones which do not calculate depreciation while calculating replacement parts (e.g rubber, plastic).

Normal insurance considers same, with varying amounts of depreciation on different parts.

A bumber to bumber or say zero depreciation insurance would cover each and every part without affecting the depreciation value, so if you claim anything on your car, you would be covered the full amount and not via depreciation value.
Say weindshield or glass covers 50% as in regular insurance , you would only claim half the amount of the glass thats tobe replaced cause of depreciation values affected while zero dep or bumber to bumper, which has a bit higher of the premium amount you have to pay on regular, would cover all parts fully.

I have realised that none of the insurance company has any of the fiat car dealer in their cashless approved garage. How will the claim be settled then? Do I need to get pay from my pocket first and the file for reimbursement.
Any fiat owner in Delhi NCR has cashless insurance from any company?

I guess insurance companies are scared of the prices for Fiat parts(directly under FASS) now. Also long as it was TASS they had the regular tieup.

In case there is no cashless the procedure you have mentioned is correct.

currently insurance companies are offering upto 50% discounts on insurance of new cars. You directly need to contact the company.

Reliance on an instance had give 60% off, but then they decrease the claim amount.

Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

I have a standard insurance with Bajaj allianz (without engine protector cover) and my car faced a hydrostatic lock while it was on the roads. The water was barely half the tyre height. Not sure how exactly it happened as it was being driven by my driver. Insurance is not ready to cover the damages to the engine but has agreed to pay the flushing and cleaning charges. Not sure what that will amount to. Any idea if this is how it works?

Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

OKay, here goes -
My car was moving through half tyre water level in a busy road (water level lower than the foot board). It got stalled while in the traffic. I admit that the driver of the car did try to start the car once after it got stalled. The car was towed to the service station where it was diagnosed that water has entered the engine and caused hydro static lock. Now it seems the crank rod has bent and an estimated repair charge of 70k has been given by my SA. Insurance has been adamant that they will only cover damages if there has been an external impact. They also have a add on engine protector cover for such specific cases is what they told. So basically their opinion is this is not an accident and hence not covered in OD insurance.

I welcome comments from others, but I think insurance is correct. This is a case of negligence and not accident. Try to fight out. All the best.

Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

Thanks Anshuman. I just wanted a validation. I have backed out as I don't want to claim falsely since it is understood that there is also user negligence that has come to play. Although I was amazed that insurance companies can get away for hydro static locks. Is it that only if you crank the engine that the damage is done? Isn't the torque in a diesel engine enough to cause damage as soon as water enters the chamber? Sorry if the questions are a bit noob-ish. Just wanted to get my thoughts clarified.

Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

I part exchanged my old car and got a new car. As you guys know (the usual procedure) I filled up the blank forms for the dealer and that was done.

Now the insurance, of the car which I exchanged, is due in 10 days. The car is still in my name as they have not sold it yet.

Is there anything I should do. I have already informed the dealer that the insurance is due. They say they have not sold it.

Unfortunately I am not on very good terms with the dealer as he tried to cheat me on the accessories.

I gave the SA 8/10 marks, he said not enough. He wants more or he will lose his commission. He says he only gets Rs650 per car he sells. I laughed and told him he could get more selling papers. He was not amused.

Anyway guys, do I have a problem or can I just forget about it.

Thanks

Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

Hi,

For a new car, I am not taking the insurance from the dealer. I am planning to buy it online. Could anyone let me know when this should be done? ie can we take it once the invoice is generated? or should wait for the registration date to buy this? Please let me know.
