Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

We did it recently (by ourselves) but offline mode. You need the invoice to buy the insurance as it is mandatory to put Engine and Chassis no in insurance. Also insurance is necessary to register a car.

Once registration is done and you get the number allotted, get it endorsed in your insurance certificate.

Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

I have had very bad experiences with future generali insurance company and would advise anyone considering to avoid them at all costs. Unfortunately my wego was insured with them by the dealer after the first year was over I didn't get a renewal reminder which resulted in the insurance lapsing. After a visit to their head office I managed to get it renewed on year later the same thing again. This year I realised in time although there was no reminder again. Though when I tried to renew it online thessite said I had to visit one of their offices with the wego for renewal. Needless to say I will be looking for another company tomorrow probably a nationalised one. The government must make it mandatory for insurance companies to send renewal notices with severe penalties for not doing it, as it is a criminal offence not to have a valid policy.

I'm getting insurance renewal done from TATA AIG for my swift diesel. Going for ZeroDep with RSA.
Couple of queries where i need your help:
- Is engine protection(Engine Secure) cover necessary.?
- Is Tata AIG good in claim settlement?

Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

Most of the manufacturers give discounts during the month of December. It includes Insurance too. Insurance amount totally waived as a discount. I have certain clarifications with this regard :

1) Is this Insurance ( free as offer ) given as Zero Dep ( Bumper to Bumper ) ?
2) Will I get any problem post first year for renewal ?
3) Does it have any terms and condition for this type of offer or Is it real offer to clear the 2014 stocks ?

Thanks

Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

Hi,

Am looking out to buy a zero depreciation car insurance for the new Polo 1.2 Highline petrol (delivery by Jan end, 2015). I am based out of Mumbai and hence would prefer someone with cashless facility tie-up with Volkswagen service centers in Mumbai. A few questions:

Which are the good ones? Have heard that TATA AIG is very good in Mumbai. A hassle free settlement and complete coverage (any add-ons i should buy apart from the zero dep?) in case of major / minor accidents is what i would prefer.

Regards

Purchased a zero dep insurance from Bharti AXA. Premium paid was Rs. 18,250 (which includes consumables coverage as well).

There was an option to add a rider for Engine cover in case of water flooding & engine related issues (nomenclature used by Bharti AXA is 'Hydrostatic Lock') but i did not opt for it. Am getting delivery of the car tomorrow. Cheers!

Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

Currently I have TATA AIG zero dep plan for my Honda City 2011 model. Renewal is due by next month (Mar - 2015).

I have started getting quotes from differnet insurance providers. Please make a note that I haven't had any claims in current policy so I don't have any experience with TATA AIG regarding claim settlement. I want to change the service provider because TATA AIG doesn't have tie up with any Honda service center in Thane, MH.

I am considering Bajaj Allianz, Honda Assure & Royal Sundaram. I am leaning towards Bajaj Allianz as it had tie up with Hallmark Honda, Thane. I have also contacted my service center and they have suggested Honda Assure. Premium for Honda Assure is ~5K more than BA & TATA AIG. TATA AIG & BA are offering zero dep for my car for ~17K. Royal Sundaram quoted ~22K which I think is bit higher. The executive with whom I had talked from Royal Sundram was saying that no honda service center provide cash less claim settlement for any insurance except Royal Sundram. I doubt it. Please honda owners from Mumbai, Thane region provide your experience with insurance provider. Is BA good choice for zero dep plan for Honda cars?

I have experienced this. Actually insurance companies are not at all interested in 2 wheeler insurances because of smaller premium as compared to other vehicles. they will never send reminders and even when you approach them, they wont show much interest selling it. sadly our govt authorities are not potent to take puinsh any company for poor customer service

Hi All

I have few queries regarding ZERO dep insurance.
What if a vehicle gets damaged due to some accident and some parts were replaced and some were repaired .
what all things zero dep. insurance covers ?
what about labour and consumable charges ?
is there anything that needs to be paid from vehicle owner's pocket apart from compulsory deductible ?

if you could share your claim experiences that will clarify my queries, will be appreciated. Thanks

In zero dep plan everything will be covered as they said bumper to bumper plan. You don't need to worry about what % your insurance will be covered for rubber/plastic/metal parts. I believe still you have to bare the cost of consumables (experts can correct me). In case of the claim you need to pay only voluntary deductible that's it. This is all my theoretical knowledge however I have never done any claim in my zero dep plan. If somebody have real experience then please share it with us, it would be really helpful for the fellow TAI-gers.

Re: Vehicle Insurance - General Questions / Discussion

My car insurance is due on 26 March, in the current policy the IDV value is Rs 4,20,000. Now I am receiving quotes for IDV value of around Rs 350000. I am insisting on increase in IDV value to Rs 4,00,000.
Need an advice, on what IDV value I can go for? Will it be fine if I go for Rs 3,50,000?
Mine is 2013 model i10 car.
