I do agree 100%. I think when your or family life is at stack, durability/reliability is much more vital than features, when you can have either one of both.
The Pajero sport is bulletproof, during my 3 month intensive research, i asked many people and mailed people abroad as well - people are willing to put their money on a 3lakh km run sport, Mitsubishi vehicles have cult following generally, hardly would ever find an owner not liking his machine, it would be more the service or spare related complaints in india or the brand image - there are apparently 5 lakh km run lancers with stock bore in bangalore - beat that for reliability/durability!

Sure, Big thanks.
Please check your PM , I have passed you number of the Mumbai dealer MD, please talk to him he can even sort your registration stuff and hopefully sweeten the deal further.[:)]

Re: The Mighty Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Drives In [7K Kms Crossed]

I have ordered a gps tracker device online(ill post details once i get it, havent received it as yet) - can somebody recommend me a sim card/plan - i expect the usage to be not over 100mb a month or so, the manufacturer claims 50mb.

Do mobile telcos have any specific sim card plans when its purely used in a gps tracker(i.e voice/sms not needed, just gprs needed) ? I never had a chance to research this.

Good decision. What brand is it? You planning to install by yourself?

Normally most GPS devices in India are offered with a SIM card along with free first year services.

Any 2G or 3G enabled plan with data usage of 100 MB per month should suffice. Most providers rely on Airtel (Prepaid) network.

This one :-
GPS Tracker | MV1B

But a higher/latest version mv1b1 is wht i have ordered. Yes a DIY job is planned.

right thought so too, 2g gprs is more than enough - not sure anyone has gprs/sms only plans - i just realised i will need sms as well for alerts.

Seems to be a good deal for the price and features mentioned in the website.

There's no contract at all. You can anytime switch to your own SIM card. It’s just like a cellphone dealer offering free SIM with a new mobile.

They do have SMS facility. At least the 3G Plan that I’m using on Vodafone dongle does.

I think this can be applied to any car. Device can send information SMS, but can we send SMS to device to stop / immobilize car?

We had installed such GPS trackers in two of our waste collection vehicles, but we had contract with the company & pay him 1250 Rs. per month (so sim card & data usage is not our concern), & in turn we log to their website that has live view as well as different logs available to suit our criteria.

The MV3 model has the functionality where you can do remote fuel cut off or in other words stop the vehicle remotely, i dont see the need for it. For me tracking and geo fence are the features i was looking for.

Re: The Mighty Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Drives In [7K Kms Crossed]

Amidst all this talk of the PS being BP, here is what I ve been facing.

At times when traversing steep, sudden speed breakers in 2wd mode, if the engine is revved in 1st or 2nd gear with the clutch fully released when the rear axles/wheels are traveling down the crest of the speed breaker, there is a sudden grunt accompanied by vibration from the rear drive train.
This grunt doesnt last for more than 1.5 seconds and the vehicle is back to normal.
This is not observed at any other speeds/situations.

I suspect a faulty propellor shaft or a cross but would like to know if any other PS owners have faced a similar situation and if yes, the remedy thereof.

Sounds unusual especially when you say its completely declutched, how much revs are you talking of ? Also does this happen only in the scenario you described or vibrations otherwise too. I have never had this but let me create the scenario you mentioned one again.

If its to do with propeller shaft you might notice it other wise too. Does this happen in any particular gear, can you do it again in first and second gear separately and report ?

@Shail1061 , with such a huge demand for the pajero sport, i am sure you can always negotiate a good discount, on-road it should come cheaper than the T-Fort.[:D]

Around 1700 rpm and its whereabouts in first and around 2100rpm in second. I have driven other vehicles but they didn't seem to have it.

No other scenarios but yes, it once happened when accelerating on a plain tarmac road but only for a microsecond.

I tried swapping the prop shaft yesterday at the service centre but it did not help.

The noise continues to come and now my suspicion has veered towards the differential.[frustration]

Any offers on pajero sport in Bangalore ?
The Bangalore dealer is a family friend Shail. Let me know if I can help.

i hope the bunk where you fuel is a good, try changing to a different one and check if same persists. Can you take it over a ramp or something and observe from underneath to isolate where the sound comes from ?

Why do you feel that fuel can cause this sound?

As explained earlier, all underbody checks have been carried out. Do you have anything technical in mind?

I saw at-least 2 sports recently with their heads opened up and compression tested - both spurious diesel cases, sounded odd and lots of vibration.

as its only while sudden acceleration and happens at times - my hunch was it could be fuel too, may be clogged injectors - but gearbox needs to be checked as well , the sound/vibration needs isolating.

Importantly you need to isolate the problem and tell the steps clearly leading to it - otherwise this is a long prognosis just trying to figure out where the problem is. Are you sure this happens on just speed breakers or does this happen on plain roads when you drive slowly. You will need to isolate the problem further. If its speed-breakers or undulations check your rear axles if the sound is from rear.

And how would you check the gearbox?

It happens only when my vehicle goes over a steep speed breaker for now.

How do you suggest we go about with the process of finding out the exact component?

How and what you would check in the rear axle?
