Re: The Mighty Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Drives In [8K Kms Crossed]

is the problem reproducable all the time ? If yes you need someone else to drive it over a ramp or those service bay lifts(carefully) and you can watch underneath - especially if you can see/hear vibrations in the rear, isolating the source of noise is critical - else we are only doing a guessing game. If its the gearbox you would feel it while shifting too, over and above the usual pajero massager mode.

Have you spoken to HM - though am sure their service quality would vary from place to place ? If you were in Pune I could have helped with a very very good service centre here.

Yes, it is but not on a ramp or a service lift because it requires slightly higher speeds.
It is not felt during shifting hence is not from the gearbox.

I have spoken to the local dealer, not to HM yet. I have an appointment tomorrow where they will check it again and try to isolate the issue. If they are unable to find out the reason, they intend to call someone from MMC or take Chetak to Chennai for further check up.[confused]

Can you help me get in touch with someone at the service centre at Pune over the phone? That person may have some ideas on the issue.

Thanks Amit. I spoke to him and explained him the situation. He too felt that the noise was from the differential and the safe path to its troubleshooting was to swap the differential and axle assembly with another vehicle.

I will try to record it on video but am not sure of the results. Lets' see.

Re: The Mighty Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Drives In [9K Kms Crossed]

Been doing a lot of light offroading on last few weekends , not much chance of photography as i am with myself - just enjoy the mud plunging.
this weekend it was even more slushy thanks to the weather conditions at farm - the center differential was finally put to good use.

I have done 9.5k and will be crossing 10k mark shortly. Some more trails are planned as i keep exploring farm hinterland.

Some pictures :-

Nice pics buddy. Mud compliments the off roaders well and same is evident in the above pics.
Is your Pajero used just for off-roading or as daily ride as well?

Hey Akash Paj is used for casual offroading, so far only very light to light/medium apart from being my daily ride as well, mix it with the XUV as well on and off.

As the running in is all done and dusted, it will be slowly exposed to more trails.

Hi guys had a TD, felt suspension is very hard compared with other vehicles such as fortuner. Is it true or just my imagination ?

well unless there was something seriously wrong with the vehicle, this is hard to imagine, sub 30 lakh the sport is one of the best in this department. The fortuner is way stiffer, what was your previous/current ride by the way ?

I suggest you take a back to back TD.

Lots of rain runs and muddy terrain at farm has soiled the car completely, so took some time out and diesel washed the car, some pictures attached, 10k kms crossed now. The Pajero probably lost 5 kgs in mud weight.

Pouring rains in mumbai, but watching your car gleam even if its only for a few minutes is worth it!

Ok, here is where Chetak stands, for the record.

The rear axle assy was swapped with another vehicle and the sound persisted.
After the rear axle assy was put back and Chetak was being lowered from the lift, one of the lift legs slipped and he fell from around 7 ft to the ground. Damage: - Both footsteps were bent along with the right rear passenger door.which was pushed in by the footstep.
The footstep mounts were also bent.

The rear door was replaced and painted but getting the door replacement approved from ICICI Lombard was a long, painful and uncomfortable process. I will NEVER go back to them for insurance irrespective of their quote.

Both footsteps have also been replaced.

The issue of the sound was intimated and examined by the Head of HM Service, India along with his Territory Service manager with no results or analysis. I have given up on them now and am clueless as to what should be my next steps forward.

All in all, I hope it is bad phase and is over.[cry]

About Chetak, your ordeal is shocking - let me message someone in the know and talk about this. i wish your vehicle was in pune!

@ kinshuk Diesel wash is nothing but taking a little bit of diesel and washing the car as you would with soap water, diesel has cleaning properties and most importantly its easily available , it helps to remove oil sludge and grime which is usually part and parcel of rain driving - especially useful in underbody areas. After a round of diesel cleaning i would use soap water to clean off the whole car to make sure there is no diesel residue.

Re: The Mighty Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Drives In [10K Kms Crossed]

ok, will diesel work on rubber and plastic parts as well?
Yes its a solvent, will work on plastic/rubber as well. you must have seen lot of old school mechanics using kerosene for cleaning metal parts - principal is same as that, just that kerosene can cause rust(and is cheaper than diesel), diesel has smell though and hence needs proper soaping off later. But these days people rather binge spend on fancy brands to clean their beloved cars, i do it myself, things which are more expensive usually sound more promising.
