I am planning a 200Km+200KM Trip on Scooter Activa. What Mods & Precautions you do suggest?

Make sure the air pressure is correct ,and as it is a continous run ,after a 50km ,check the pressure again.

Also make sure the overall vehicle health is good (All fluids,as it is an activa,the fork health as well as suspension health needs to be ensured),else it can cause your health a strain.

How to check the condition of Suspension & Forks at home bro?
Yes it will be continuous 200KM. We start at 4AM, reach place by 10~10.30 AM. Maybe a breakfast break in between.

Next day we take the same track back home.

Don't rush. Don't push the engine too much. Take lots of breaks. Bums will hurt faster than on bike.

Can you please trace the circuit with values and post it for the benefit of all (read "me"). This principle can be extended for a host of other applications also.

Due to time constraints, I havent touched the scooter for some time. In my scooter also , some connectors are loose. I have sourced some connectors but not replaced it. Presently everything is working fine except the fuel sensor float which is having loose connection.

The deadline for my scooter work is on Jan 1 . Since only minor works remain I'm getting lazy.

I have done a few trips on an Activa. The maximum distance on a single day was approx 200kms (alleppey to Palakkad). Actually i did not do any check, but it is better to ckeck whether scooter has sufficient oil

Will check next time. I think it is just basic on/off action as the output was not fluctuating the time I tested it manually in different float positions. The capacitor was for initial light up and may be in case low oil and switch on for prolonged time enough to charge the capacitor.

March/April 2017:

Usage was very little. One fine day pickup was lost, not even crossing 20 kmph. Sadly, nearby Kinetic-accepting mechs closed shops and new guys refused to take it in. Our Honda guy was not ready to take it in, but he took a screw driver and hammer and punched a hole and asked to change the exhaust. It was completely blocked. Decarbing the exhaust was long pending. Now, it accelerates like hell, but top end is limited in 60-70, as before. Time to hunt down brand new one. This one is a 10-year old Delhi-make duplicate. Now terribly loud.




Friend had a Y2Kinetic rusting at his house. With great hope, got it from him as a part donor. Shipped it in hurry in his M800 aka Mandakini.



Impatiently stripped the same night.




But to horror, majority of it was unusable, shattering all expectations.




Handle bar was horrible. Heavily rusted and all mounting points were knocked off. Switch still has the rocking effect, but cover don't have the OE KH logo. Have to swap the switches to current original KH casing. Meter console was good, but not Pricol. Speedo is jammed with rusted cable in it. Just wanted the fuel gauge.




Exhaust was low-lying cat con type. Was longing for one. But later found, cant be mounted on old KH since there was modification in chassis to accommodate the bend pipe of this one. Thought of swapping chassis, but to horror, whole platform section was severely damaged. Apart from platform, rest of the chassis is in pristine shape, even the original shine of powder coating is there.




Usable spares remaining will be fork assembly, switch gears, headlight assembly, speedo console (part), seat, petrol and oil tank and their floats. And a good 110 cc engine with gearbox, carb and filter. Rest of the parts are gonna be scrapped.


So far swapped, is this genuine, sturdy oil tank cap.




Whole seat. Other one was brand new custom made, but lacks the contour this one has.




Got a good deal for MAK 2T, bought a liter loose for 200 bucks, would have costed 280.

Changed plugs. Again, NGK G-Power BPR7HGP. Got for ₹ 175.00

25 Year FC/retest time.



Stripped.



Divorced.



Switch mixed and matched with Zoom's. Original was Pricol, Zoom had Minda. Painted.



Fork assembly from Zoom. Oldie had little bend.



Sanded.



Copper wire cup on angle grinder. Was pretty dangerous to use, copper wires flying most of the time. Thighs and knees punctures at multiple places. Better to wear 2 jeans. Once machine slipped and landed in groin, still running. Luckily nothing happened. Always use both hands and wear safety glasses.



Sanded, primed and painted. Full steering column.



Chassis. Sanded, primed and painted.

Spark Plug Adapter - Swiss - ₹ 40.00





Handle Grip (Pair) - Ryde (OEM Style) - ₹ 60.00 (**** quality)




8-mm Flange bolt. Bit hard to find.



Wiring Kit. Sleeved and taped.



Engine cleaned up, externally. Plastic engine cover from Zoom. Old one was part metal, part plastic.





Mated again. Casing painted.



Body panels off for painting.

Switches assembled. Mix and match from 2 pairs. Newer ones sturdier with rocking action. Highlighted with mom's acrylic colors




Fuel gauge from Zoom. Was some unheard brand. OEM pricol was showing fatigue, fluctuating.



Again, mom's color, stolen



Assembled.



Exhaust Assembly - ₹ 1,200.00
Searched length and breadth of the city to find one. Regular guys were making me wait for long and found one at an unexpected shop, with D-day just around the corner.

Painted all tidbit parts.



Changed DRL to warm white.



Panels back after painting. ₹ 3,000.00, okay for the price. Most other guys were quoting more plus long waiting periods.



Air Filter - ₹ 50.00




Speedometer Glass - ₹ 120.00 (Earlier ones were cheaper, yet better quality)



Front Brake Cable ₹ 150.00



Final Assembly.

All set and ready for CF test. Passed in flying colors.

August 2017: Continued

Quality of the grips were so good that it gave way the day of CF test, luckily on the way back, with throttle stuck at high rpm . Was using FZ grips and because of the lack of time and modification needed to fit it, chose this in a hurry.



Instead bought Yamaha Ray's, thinking minimum modification would be needed and better fit than FZ's, but surprisingly it was direct fit. Quality is top notch.

Brake lever hole got rounded with use, turning brake light on all the time due to play). Replaced it also.



LED fetish since childhood

Then why not a tail lamp Version 1. 42 LEDs.



Plus 3 for number plates.



Improvised to version 2, 56+3 LEDs.



Park or rather DRL, always on. 36 LEDs in dim + number plate lights.



Brake. All 56 in full potential (It's a lot brighter than this click).



Brakes.



Park/DRL. Prefer front and rear park lights ON all the time.




September 2017:

Engine packed up with carbon deposit and high time need decarb. Lack of time, keeps the work pending. Now 2 options, decarb the original engine or swap the 110 cc Zoom engine. Dilemma!!! For the time being, Kiney off the road.
