Over 40,000 BMW X3s recalled due to door lock issue

The recall includes 2022-2024 BMW X3 sDrive30i (rear-wheel drive) and xDrive30i (all-wheel drive models). The rear door-lock mechanisms in these vehicles could both unlock and unlatch the doors with one motion, rather than separately as stipulated by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, according to the NHTSA.

The relevant standard calls for doors to unlock via a dedicated mechanism, and unlatch when the occupant pulls the door handle. If both actions occur simply by unlocking the door, it could open inadvertently, presenting an increased safety risk to rear-seat occupants.

BMW told the NHTSA that this problem was discovered during internal testing, and that it isn't aware of any related warranty claims, accidents, or injuries.

Dealers will replace the rear door lock modules on affected vehicles free of charge. Any related work conducted prior to the recall would still be covered by warranty, so BMW does not anticipate having to reimburse customers for out of pocket expenses in this case.

Ineos recalls 7K Grenadiers because the Doors could randomly open

Ineos is recalling 7022 Grenadier models because a faulty button mechanism in the door handle could result in the doors randomly swinging open. According to recall documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue traces back to the affected models' production, where the door-button mechanism was built using an insufficient amount of grease.

The lack of grease on the mechanism means that the exterior door buttons may remain in the depressed position, keeping them from fully latching and leading to the doors opening accidentally. The recall documents explain that the driver and passengers will receive multiple warnings if the doors are not fully latched. For starters, NHTSA says the sound of the door closing will be different. The depressed latch will also be visible. Lastly, if the car moves while the doors are unlatched, a visual warning will appear on the dash and be followed by audible alerts.

Documents associated with the recall show that Ineos will replace the complete door-button assemblies of affected vehicles for free. The updated components reportedly use improved guidance mechanisms and a revised grease application process.

Dealers have already been notified of the recall, and Ineos plans to mail owner-notification letters between March 31 and May 4. Owners concerned their Grenadier may be included in the recall can find out on the NHTSA site.

90,000 Camaros and Cadillacs have front wheels that might Lock-Up

A General Motors 10-speed transmission recall involves more than 90,000 of these vehicles because the front wheels can lockup while driving.
  • 2019-2020 Cadillac CT6
  • 2020-2021 Cadillac CT4
  • 2020-2021 Cadillac CT5
  • 2020-2022 Chevrolet Camaro
GM says the 10-speed transmission control valve may suffer from excess wear over time and cause a loss of pressure within the valve. The result is harsh shifting, and in "rare cases" the front wheels can experience a "momentary" lockup which occurs in a downshift from eighth gear.

GM dealers will install new transmission control module software that will monitor transmission valve performance and detect excess wear about 10,000 miles before a wheel lockup could occur.
If a problem occurs, the transmission will be limited to fifth gear which will prevent the possibility of a wheel lockup. Additionally, a driver will see a service engine light and reduced propulsion message in the instrument panel

GM 10-speed transmission recall letters are expected to be mailed April 21, 2025. Cadillac owners may call 800-333-4223 and Chevrolet customers can call 800-222-1020. GM's 10-speed transmission recall number is N242480630.

Land Rover Range Rovers recalled for seat belt Buckles

Land Rover has recalled its 2025 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles because of problems with the seat belt buckles. More than 7,200 Land Rovers need their center seat belt buckles and buckle retaining bolts replaced.

The Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports are currently equipped with second-row center seat belt buckles that may not latch correctly. This can leave an occupant unprotected in a crash.

Engineers determined the second-row center seat belt buckles may have been manufactured out of specification because one of the jigs used at the buckle supplier did not secure the buckle’s internal cable in the correct location during a riveting process.

Land Rover is not aware of any crash or injury reports relating to the seat belt buckle problems. Land Rover seat belt buckle recall letters should be mailed May 2, 2025, then dealerships will replace the components.

Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport owners may contact Land Rover at 800-637-6837 and ask about seat belt buckle recall number N989.

GM recalls 90K Chevy Camaros, Cadillac Sedans over faulty transmissions

General Motors has recalled 90,081 examples of the Chevrolet Camaro and the Cadillac CT4, CT5, and CT6 sedans equipped with the 10-speed automatic transmission. Documents associated with the recall explain that models with other transmissions are not included in the recall population. The recall documents show that the recall extends to the 2020–2021 CT4 and CT5 models, the 2019–2020 CT6, and the 2020–2022 Camaro lineup.

Documents submitted to NHTSA explain that a transmission control valve is to blame for the defect. The documents also state that the valve is liable to excess wear over time, resulting in a fluid leak, a drop in pressure, and subsequently harsh shifting. In one instance, the recall notes that an all-wheel-drive 2021 Cadillac CT5 experienced a momentary front-wheel lockup. A GM spokesperson told Car and Driver that the rear wheels can also lock up on affected models.

Dealers have already been notified of the issue and the fix, with GM planning to alert owners in mid-April. Anyone concerned their car might be part of the recall population can check using their vehicle's VIN on the NHTSA website.

Ford re-recalls over 50,000 vehicles including Explorer, Lincoln, Edge models and more

Ford Motor Company is re-recalling more than 50,000 vehicles for camera, battery and window issues that were incorrectly repaired as part of prior recalls, according to multiple National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) notices.

Four separate recall notices reported to the NHTSA on March 13 include 64,531 cars across seven models and four model years, including Explorer, Edge, Lincoln, Bronco Maverick, F-250 and F-350 vehicles.

In two cases, failure of the vehicles' rearview cameras may cause blank or distorted images to appear, limiting the ability of drivers to utilize the backup feature and increasing crash risk.

In another, a failing module may neglect to inform drivers of a low battery, increasing the risk of a sudden loss of power. In the fourth and smallest recall, which concerns only nine cars, the front driver and passenger windows may fail to automatically retract when they encounter an obstacle (such as a finger or hand), increasing the risk of injury.

Tesla Cybertruck's latest recall involves Body part that could fly off

The Tesla Cybertruck is an unmistakable stainless-steel-bodied electric pickup truck, but one of those stainless-steel body parts is susceptible to flying off, based on a recent recall. As a result, Tesla is recalling roughly 46K—or virtually all—Cybetrucks from the 2024 and 2025 model years.

The recall involves an exterior trim piece called the cant rail, which is joined together with the truck's steel structure with an adhesive that's prone to "environmental embrittlement," according to a recall report that Tesla submitted to NHTSA earlier this week. The report goes on to say that the Cybertruck's stainless-steel body panel can delaminate and separate from the rest of the vehicle, possibly landing on the road and creating a hazard for other drivers.

The affected Cybertrucks were built between November 13, 2023, and February 27, 2025. Owners should be able to notice a delaminated cant rail because it'll either be obviously coming loose from the truck's body or it can create a noise while inside the truck.

Tesla says it will replace the cant rail for free under warranty. The new body part will not only use a different adhesive that Tesla says isn't susceptible to the same embrittlement issues, but it will also be secured with a stud welded to the structure and a nut to clamp the stainless-steel trim piece. The company says the procedure will also apply to Cybertrucks built around March 21, 2025, as well as retrofitted to models still in its possession before they're delivered to customers.

According to the NHTSA report, Tesla first learned about the issue back in January, which led to inspections and pull tests that the company said revealed no signs of separation. However, in February, NHTSA notified Tesla that owners had made claims about detached cant rails, which were further identified through service records and posts on social media.
