Without a tripod, I find it difficult to take a shakeless pic. Without IS, it's not that good (the lens) and I don't have IS in it.
If you are going to continue taking pictures to showcase the technical capabilities of your camera and your lens (like the one you posted), I would say invest in a good tripod.
On the other hand, if you want to use the capabilities of your camera to capture moments/memories in real life, I strongly recommend you to get a IS lens.
Saw from
smartshoppers on ebay. use ICICIFCC13 to get it for Rs. 4,510.50
I could not logon to TAI today. Sorry for seeing it /replying late. Even flipkart was selling 4990 and now they have increased the price to 6990 (if you search , you see 4990 in the link and while clicking the link, you see the revised price).
By the way, how is your D7100 doing ?
No issues. I need it only before my next trip. Thanks for the Ebay link. I hope it will be valid till next week.
I too saw the Flipkart google result and got fooled. The price I quoted was from Kunnur, at the time of buying the cam. So not too sure if it holds good now.
D7100 is doing good. Though I don't see any difference between D90 and D7100 as for as image quality is concerned. (unlike the huge difference in image quality between my P&S and D90). But then, who am I to comment on these subjects.
The new sensor is an advantage when it comes to cropping... I can crop further.
Adobe CS 5.5, which I use, does not support D7100's raw files. So I have to use adobe DNG converter to convert the NEF files to DNG files and then open with Adobe Camera Raw.
I still fumble with the zoom buttons while reviewing as the + and - buttons are reversed when comparing wth D90.
Battery life is ok. Didn't charge it during the trip. But D90 has better battery life.
@edios,
Get a IS lens brother. Tell Dad to buy a lens for you as a 'bday gift or their anniversary gift'. 15% off on standard chartered credit card from Flipkart. :) Make use of it !
Joke apart,
how much you want to spend on tripod ? Believe me, you wont use it even if you have.
You can watch some videos of 'how to hold the camera' to avoid shake while clicking. You even need to hold your breath while clicking it. Watch few of those.
When you pay less, you do not get great quality stuff.
+1
I have a tripod that is gathering dust... used it when I received it to test it and then carried it for a couple of trips without even taking it out of the boot. So now I do not even bother to take it.
