I shouldnt have asked for a noob's guide then
I have largely used P/S in manual modes, so in a way this is my first DSLR - was looking to buy an entry level DSLR and hence zeroed on T4i(known here as EOS 650D i think). So will have 2 lens, i also intend to buy a macro lens. Suggestions welcome.
lol! And yeah, 650D is a very good camera AFAIK and you chose the right option as I felt my 1100D to not be a great one, maybe because I'm using the lens without Image Stabilization.
And congrats for buying those. [:)]

Hi Guys
Great Thread.
I am also planning to buy my first DSLR.
The only requirement is that it should be able to take good photographs during Night.
All the cameras that I have used dont take quality photographs when light is low or no light at all.
My Budget is set to 50K MAX.

Thanks

bigdaddy24 i recently got the T4i(known as 650d here) - its a phenomenal camera just the lame photographer/owner needs to catch up. Extremely impressed with the night shots as well though i am yet to get my hands right on it.

Guys finally got my hands on it this weekend, spend the last 2 nights reading the manual, so i know what to use when and havent even finished half of it - i guess this one is going to take a lot of experiments/time and goof ups to get right.

So currently mugging up the stuff Jayadev suggested and tips which came as part of the canon kit.

The canon bag i got is as big as a mini travel bag! I am scared to post as yet in the best photography thread as it would be classic proof as to what a bad photographer could do with a decent DSLR.

Oh boy!! Oh!!!

Imagining some nice clicks of XUV in those remote areas you visit.

Will be waiting for some exclusive pictures through those lens.

Can you share the cost of camera, along with the gears that comes with this SLR.

Congrats Amit.[:)]

Thanks Mukesh but you really have high hopes, the camera is good no doubts but the photographer has a long way to go.

The kit includes :-

1) Canon T4i Rebel (known as EOS 650d here ) - 18MP DSLR
2) Stock Lens - 18-55mm
3) Additional Lens - 55-250mm
4) 16GB SD card
5) A Canon Camera Bag (pretty big for a camera!)
6) Rest of stuff like cables/chargers

All of the above costing 1040 odd dollars tax included.

Re: DSLR - How To Make Your Photos Stand Out.

Just a quick question what's the starting range of DSLR camera's.

And which is the best company at that particular price?

Just a quick question what's the starting range of DSLR camera's.

And which is the best company at that particular price?
Starts at 18K onwards. (Even cheaper)

All brands are almost same (Canon/Nikon/Sony). I think Canon is bit cheaper than Nikon for the same price tag. The video shooting (frame per seconds) are more in canon compared to Nikon.

People go for higher end ones mainly because of the following things
ISO levels (Less noise at higher ISO. Even without flash, you can click a pic at night without grainy/noisy image)
Metering display. They love to see display on top meter display than looking on screen.
Built in motor. It works with all sorts of lens (lens with/without motor).
More features. No of continuous shots. HDR etc (I think hdr is available in lower end models too)
Better build quality. It would be rough and tough. Even it can withstand slight rain (drizzle)

In simple terms:- (as per my thinking)
If you want to shoot day light with background blur etc, any DSLR camera with a good lens will get you that.
If you want to click a night photography with flash, you should be able to get decent photo. (Not the best)
If you want others to admire about your camera and see you like a pro, go for a high end camera :D
If you want to have high end feature, better build quality, go for a decent camera.

All the best :)

Re: DSLR - How To Make Your Photos Stand Out.

Nikon D3100 - INR 27,950
Canon 1100D - NR 26,990
Those are list price. You will get them much cheaper online.

As for the best company... that is a million dollar question.

Both produce equal quality images. Pick up the cameras and check out the layout of controls. You won't go wrong if you pick the one that feels good in your hand... the one you are comfortable with...
