http://www.cartoq.com/upcoming-comp...Honda Brio Amaze | Cartoq - Honest Car Advice

The compact sedan segment is one of the hottest sectors in the Indian car market. While the Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Brio Amaze and the Tata Indigo eCS are the three major compact sedans sold in India, three more will be added in the next one year. CarToq profiles the Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and the Ford Figo compact sedans while going into brief comparos with hot sellers such as the Dzire and Amaze. This compilation aims to give the reader a quick reference of the six major compact sedans that will be available for purchase over the next one year.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire

The Swift Dzire is India’s best selling compact sedan by a mile. Available both in petrol and turbo diesel engine options, the Dzire is based on the tried and tested, 2nd generation Swift platform. The Dzire petrol starts at 5.03 lakh rupees, going all the way up to 7.59 lakh rupees, both prices reflecting ex-showroom Delhi figures.

Honda Brio Amaze

The Brio Amaze is a runaway success for Honda in India. The 1.5 liter i-DTEC motor, Honda’s first ever turbo diesel engine for India, is a big reason for the Amaze’s success in India. The car is also available with a petrol engine that comes with automatic and manual gearbox options. The Amaze starts at 5.21 lakh rupees for the base petrol model, going up to 7.78 lakh rupees for the top end diesel model.

The car is sold with petrol, CNG and diesel engine options.

The diesel motor is a capable and fuel efficient performer while the petrol motor is refined and peppy. A 5 speed manual gearbox will be available on both engines while the petrol motor will gain a 4 speed automatic option as well. Hyundai has been talking about pricing the Xcent very competitively and also about loading the car with class leading equipment. The Xcent is based on the Grand i10 platform. The Zest is based on the Manza platform and is Tata Motors’ second compact sedan. The Zest will be sold with 1.2 liter turbo petrol (80 Bhp-140 Nm) and 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbo diesel(90 Bhp-200 Nm) engines. The biggest story around the car is that it will feature the automated manual transmission (AMT) on the diesel powered variants, a unique feature among cars sold in the sub-10 lakh rupee space. The response which the Zest and Bolt got during their launch explains a lot, I never seen any TATA car got such good opinion from media.

good design TATA!
interiors are awesome.black and beige for zest is cool.and all black leather for bolt also looks good.
After seeing lots of videos I am under impression that they provide both interior color schems two tone and single color .however in one video where it is showing all black leather interior for zest but dashboard on close look revealed that it is not black but dark brown.I hope TATA refrain from doing so.interior colors are important in the premieumness of the car.any color other than black or black and beige in the interior will be desasterous.cars look really good.but definitely wait to see the fit and finish because of previous TATA experience.one example is that the interior door rubber beeding used in the car still resembles age old round bulky rubber design.

Honda Amaze vs Hyundai Xcent vs Maruti DZire – Spec Comparison

The sub 4-metre compact sedan segment is India’s most growing segment currently offering the prestige of owning a sedan, coupled with low service and maintenance costs. The Maruti DZire and Honda Amaze are two success stories that showcased the potential this segment had. Now Hyundai too has joined the bandwagon with the Xcent sedan with a killer price tag and it is getting tough for you to choose the right car. We compare the newly launched Hyundai Xcent to the Honda Amaze and Maruti DZire in the sub 4-metre category to tell you which is the best compact sedan for your money.

Design– The Hyundai Xcent is a sedan with a boot stuck on the Grand i10 hatchback. The car remains the same up till the C-pillar, thereon it gets a sizeable boot and a quirky tail light design. The Maruti DZire on the other hand features the same design as the hatchback, but the boot looks to be pushed-in for the excise benefit and not a wholesome design. The winner in the design department is definitely the Honda Amaze. It looks well proportioned, the rear has been very well integrated than the other two, while the front has a chrome garnished grille visibly different from the Brio.

Features– All these cars come loaded with features but the Honda Amaze trails the other two in terms of equipment. The Maruti DZire is decently loaded with kit but the Hyundai Xcent is just ahead of the other two, offering a plethora of features, some of which are not even seen in a segment up. Stuff like push button start, keyless go, 1 GB storage for the audio system, Bluetooth telephony, rear AC vent, etc. are unique to the Xcent. Both the DZire and Amaze will get a minor update in features later this year.

Space– In terms of the overall size of the sedan, all the three cars fall short of the 4-metre mark at nearly 3995 mm. In terms of wheelbase, the Xcent measure 2425 mm, the DZire 2430 mm and the Amaze 2405 mm. However, in spite of the DZire having the longest wheelbase, the Amaze has scooped out more space with better ergonomics thanks to Honda’s man maximum philosophy. The Xcent looks visibly spacious, with more headroom as well. All the three cars get a rear seat armrest but the DZire misses out on cupholders.

PowerTrain– All three models have petrol and diesel engines on offer. The Hyundai Xcent is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder engine producing 83 PS at 6000 RPM and 113 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. The DZire uses a 1.2-litre K-Series mill, producing 87 PS at 6000 RPM and 114 Nm of peak torque at 4000 RPM. The Amaze however, is the most powerful on paper with 88 PS at 6000 RPM and 109 Nm of torque at 4500 RPM from its 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine. All the three engines get variable valve timing and are mated to 5-speed manual transmissions. While the Dzire and the Xcent get a 4-speed automatic gearbox as well, the Amaze gets a 5-speed auto unit. The DZire however is the sportier one to drive.
With the diesel engines, the Xcent uses the 1.1-litre 3-cylinder CRDi engine producing 72 PS at 4000 RPM and 180 Nm of torque at 1750 RPM. The Amaze comes with the biggest engine of all, the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, Earth Dreams, i-DTEC engine with 100 PS at 3600 RPM and 200 Nm of torque. The Maruti DZire stays in the middle of the two with 75 PS at 4000 RPM and 190 Nm at 2000 RPM. Honda’s upper hand with added performance definitely shows up, while the Xcent is peppier to drive in the city. However the Xcent lacks power in front of the other two and the three-cylinder engine isn’t as refined as others. The Amaze is the noisiest of the three.

Fuel EfficiencyWhen it comes to petrol, both the Xcent and Dzire have a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.1 km/l for the manual variant, whereas the Honda Amaze falls short at 18 km/l. However, the i-VTEC engine is the most refined of the lot. For the diesel counterparts; the Amaze wins the show with a claimed efficiency of 25.8 km/l, the Xcent comes in second giving 24.4 km/l and the Dzire third at 23.4 km/l. (All figures are ARAI certified).

Price– Hyundai launched the Xcent sedan at a killer price tag of Rs. 4.66 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) undercutting the Maruti DZire which starts at Rs. 4.85 lakhs and the Honda Amaze which has a base price of Rs. 4.99 lakhs. With the more popular diesel engines too, Hyundai has priced the Xcent more competitively starting at Rs. 5.56 lakhs. The DZire diesel range starts at Rs. 5.79 lakhs, while the Amaze diesel starts at Rs. 5.98 lakhs. In fact, the Xcent diesel is only marginally more expensive than the Amaze petrol. However, considering the Xcent prices are introductory, a revision is sure to come in a few months.
Overall, the Hyundai Xcent is a very capable product when it comes to competition and will surely attract buyers with its lucrative price tag and features. So does the competition need to be alert? Well yes, considering the fan following Hyundai shares in offering more car for the buck. Will it unsettle the other two? Yes very much, but we think there is enough room in this segment for all the three to survive.

re: Mega Comparo – Tata Zest vs Maruti Swift Dzire vs Honda Amaze vs Hyundai Xcent vs For

The Amaze is just that Amazing and the Dzire-vv dzirable. The only weakness-the Amaze interiors are not plush/upmarket, while the dzire has a tiny boot.
The Xcent has classy interiors and a good boot-with ASS close to MSL-but more expensive-so my guess is that it will hit 7-8K per month after the initial euphoria and ultimate price correction "for increasing steel prices".

But in real world performance, the Grand i10 diesel struggles while overtaking and on highways.
By the way, the Indigo eCS is a decade old car sir.

re: Mega Comparo – Tata Zest vs Maruti Swift Dzire vs Honda Amaze vs Hyundai Xcent vs For

While a driving enthusiast will miss the power and torque in the Xcent diesel i feel the average driver is looking for smooth engine with good mileage-80% will fall into average driver category;the Indigo CS hit the sweet spot for the taxi segment-i dont see the Xcent in that category so surprisingly i feel that the indigo CS will be less hit than any other sub-4 sedan.

re: Mega Comparo – Tata Zest vs Maruti Swift Dzire vs Honda Amaze vs Hyundai Xcent vs For

But driving dynamics and handling of the Tata Zest tuned with the inputs from Narayan Kartikeyan is a commendable step and should have given it a brilliant and sporty ride.
Yes, Tatas cars were always good in ride and handling department. It was only lacking in elegant design outer shell and high-tech interiors. Now Zest and Bolt have got all those lacking features and rest is pretty sure that it will be a great package.

Tata was always right on pricing their vehicles (including the ARIA i feel. COmpare the feature of top end ARIA with its nearest competetor and they are 5-7 lacs higher!!!).

Tata this time definitely have two winners in their vault. Good job, Tata [clap]. Way ahead to go. Please donot go back to sleep mode [sleep].

I agree-however TML 'should' get their safety act together-imagine if they offered ABS and Airbags, NCAP atleast optional on ALL variants. Imagine if the Zest and Bolt came with NCAP 3/4-wow!

re: Mega Comparo – Tata Zest vs Maruti Swift Dzire vs Honda Amaze vs Hyundai Xcent vs For

I think they have ABS and airbags on the top end variants. And in India we still have customers who would avoid these safety features for economy reasons [;)]. Tata cannot enforce these on all the models including the base variants. It is the same with every manufacturer in India atleast if not in the EU.
