I have got few Quotations from couple of dealers in Pune. Surprisingly their invoice price differs by 5/6 thousands for same model. also they are quoting 6k as 'Logistic Charges'. what are these charges for ?? [confused]
Every dealer now can charge around 6-8k as handling charges. They fought a war in supreme court for the same. However there is no fixed price on this.

The vehicles come from the manufacturer to the stock yard of the respective dealers. All the charges incurred from there till handover to customers has to be borne by the dealer. Hence all dealers have started to charge this officially. Every car manufacturer is claiming this now.

Thanks don.lohith for this info. so eventually the handling charge is paid by customer [anger]
on a funny side, I think the customer should directly buy from nearest factory and drive it home himself. we have TML factory at pune [lol]
Can't TML open up a factory outlet in a city where final car products are rolled out for distribution ?? atleast customers will escape from all tricks and hidden charges applied by dealers [clap]

another query - RTO maharashtra website has a calculator that calculates Life tax on invoice price of a car as around 42k while dealer is quoting it as 51k !!
can anybody justify higher RTO/registration expenses as quoted by dealer ?

These dealers get their work done through some agents and hence the price difference in RTO and registration/Insurance charges. I am facing similar situation in Delhi but the price difference is Rs. 1000/- from 3 dealers. It is how much an agent charges for the work done that is passed on to customers.[frustration]

This is completely off-topic.

but have corrupt govt officials in association with such agents, made registering at RTO and paying Life taxes 'that' cumbersome so that a car buyer can't do it himself ???

If every expense remain at it's 'original' price, the On road cost of a car will get reduced dramatically.
but people do get money for not doing their job honestly !! & people pay them the money too [frustration]

Read in Livemint. Tatas have secured orders in range of 18000 to 20000 for their new car called Zest.

Tata Motors hires former Maruti COO in turnaround bid - Livemint

I have been reading some issues that Zest customers are facing with dealers, where dealers are compelling them in buying the insurance from them at a high premium. This same is being discussed on this thread as well.

I guess these dealers are also trying to cash in on the Zestabulous response and make some moolah. Tata should be careful about this and not let the situation go out of control. Every dealer does this, it was same when ecosport was launched, with Suzuki too, I had to go with dealers insurance. However, being Tata they have privilege of inviting peoples wrath and scathing at the very small issue. They should not let these minor issues being blown out of proportion, and keep the people interested in Zest.

Yes ! Tata can't afford such a business at this point of time. They must sell as much car as possible. Dealers too should take this as an opportunity to build a bond with the consumers and not to loot them.

BTW, Concorde dealerships across the country are getting a negative review from the customers [frustration]
Common Tata. Make sure Concorde is good at business atleast.

Tomorrow we may see the first proper monthly Zest sales figure. But I'm not expecting a 'big' number still.[sleep]

Let me share my experience. I have been to 3 dealers in Delhi looking for ZEST XT Diesel; Malwa Motors in Rohini, Concorde Paschim Vihar and Auto Vikas Moti Nagar.

The price quotes I have got from them are:

Malwa: Concorde AutoVikas

Ex-Showroom: 699,000 699,000 699,000
Insurance: 25200 26441 26385
Road Tax: 67920 65926 66093
Total On Road: 798640 797867 797978

So as you can see, it is just the agent fees that is different with all three of them (as told to me by SA when confronted with these figures).[frustration]

Tata needs nothing short of an Alan Mulally to make this turnaround now and adding to this, they need a complete restructuring too.
A completely new product lineup with competent products with dealers working not to earn money but to build the 'network' of Tata - they do it and they will earn more than waht they would have imagined.
