Yes this is your chassis number which is also otherwise known as the VIN number.
10th character represents the YEAR of Manufacture
12th character represents the MONTH of Manufacture
Please refer to this for more information.

Did a small trip over the weekend from Mahalakshmi Layout to Mulbagal, Kotilingeshwar, and Bangaru Tirupathi. Trip A shows the FE for whole trip. Trip B shows FE for the return journey from Bangaru Tirupathi to home. Most of the journey was in ECO mode on the highway with around 60% AC in the onward journey. Trip B at one point showed 21.9 kmpl during the return journey before entering KR Puram with around 15% AC. Can it get better after the first service?
Revetron Guys,
I'm envious of you people looking at the FE.
In my qjd, even on highways, 18-19 is a difficult to maintain [thumbsdown].

Is it that you keep your revs low below 2K and achieving this?
What speed you drive on an empty highway?

Automotive manufactures around the world use a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) that can be decoded to reveal the Month & Year of production. Each car has a unique VIN that is usually stamped somewhere within the engine bay or around the passenger compartment.

So Tata Motors has VIN Characters beginning with 17 numbers (beginning with MAT...)

Decode:

10th character represents the YEAR of Manufacture
12th character represents the MONTH of Manufacture

An Example:

If your 10th VIN character is A, then it represents the Year - 2010
If your 12th VIN character is G, then it represents the Month - July

Month Codes:

A = JAN
B = FEB
C = MAR
D = APR
E = MAY
F = JUN
G = JUL
H = AUG
J = SEP
K = OCT
L = NOV
M = DEC

Year Codes:

A = 2010
B = 2011
C = 2012
D = 2013
E = 2014
F = 2015
G = 2016
H = 2017
J = 2018
K = 2019

P.S. The letters "I", "O" and "Q" are never used in a VIN.

So going by this, your car is manufactured in October 2014.

There have been pretty extreme cases in terms of FE on revotron. Starting from 9KMPL to 18-19KMPL. So I guess a lot depends on driving style.

But 18-19KMPL is damn good for a petrol car. If I would've know, wouldnt have booked a QJD [thinking]

Same here. If petrol gives above 15 in real time, I would also have chosen it.

Economy mode in diesel???[surprise]
I think that max speed and revs make the difference.
On highways, on lower gears, I go upto 4k RPM
and speed is above 100 always and full time A/C

Re: Tata Zest: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

Ohh, I got confused [:)]

BTW, did you notice outside air getting inside while on a/c economy mode?
Initially I tried eco mode, but was not happy with taking outside air.
So never used it again.
No, but i faced a different issue when i travel 300km trip. if i switched off AC hot air from engine bay coming in to cabin via AC vents. I felt 3 times in my 300km trip. If i switch on AC everything fine. I shown to service center, they checked everything and said there is no issue. but its not always very few times. I will use more in Banaglore itself, next weekend planing a long trip and i will observe that time again.

To stop outside air, switch on recirculate mode.
