Re: Tata Zest: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

Guys,

Today i contacted my dealer to check possibility to exchange my 8 spoke alloys with 18 spoke alloys since i like very much mid version(18spoke). But dealer said No. Now tata motors it self giving 18 spoke alloys for top end(XT). Anybody tried exchanging alloys?

i should have waited for 1 month to buy the car... for 18 spoke alloys...

Ravi Nalla
Ravi,

Don't feel bad. It is another level of differentiation.

However, if you really want them, you can check with new buyers who want to exchange with your one.

Most likely. I have just spoken to TATA motors representative. He has confirmed that the kits have been already manufactured. So ideally all the new cars will be fitted with the fix kit. They are going to put one in mine in a week's time as per their assurance (coming straight from Tata motors not the dealer). They are also going to replace my sun visors to the ones which are shown in the review by Vibhor. Wonder why all you have not asked for those visors. My point is why do Tata motors have separate standards for the Media and customer. And apparently they have bought my argument and are going to replace it soon. I would suggest all of you to get rid of the sub standard sun visors get the one which are better. Ask for it. You will get it.
Hi Wincy,

Whom should we contact to get the wheel protector and sun visor - the dealer or TML?

Wincy, Please tell us whom to contact for the replacement of the wheel cap. Its been two days I have taken the delivery of my zest, not much of mud has entered, still want to get it replaced quickly so that everything is fine. Tomorrow, I am going to the showroom guys to get the number plate fixed also for the seat covers fitted.

Dear All,
Since last few days, all the doors of my XM RT is not getting locked automatically when speed crosses 10 kmph. I have to do it manually from the driver side door lock.
Is there any solution?

Thanks,
Swades

hi Kaykay. I cannot share the contacts in public.
@Kiranpai - The showroom people will contact you within a week. That's the update that I have got from Tata Motors.

Hi Wincy,

Whom should we contact to get the wheel protector and sun visor - the dealer or TML?
Hi KayKay,

I contacted TML, they said mud in engine bay issue will be resolved(they will install some kit)in 1 or 2 weeks time and sun visors can not be replaced as it is standard fitment across all zests.

Wincy,

have you got any written statement saying they will replace sunvisor also?

I had asked them about Sunvisor, GPS Navigation and Beige Door Pads. Also I suggested front arm rest as accessory

I got below reply. I apprecite the immediate reply though.

The sun visor , Beige colored door pads and Music system fitted in your Zest vehicle are part of standard fitment in your Zest vehicle at that point of time, and the quality remains the same as in all other Zest cars of same model .Hence we wish to inform that these cannot be replaced or modified. Kindly do not have any apprehension as you will continue to derive good performance in your vehicle.

We take your feedback on considering Arm rest as an accessory in Zest vehicle which we will pass on to concerned department.

Although I may be wrong, but I have not heard of any car company in India changing fitments in any cars after they had sold the vehicle but please correct me if I have wrong information.

Hi TAIgers

Today I read something like below text at one of the forums
if the car is delivered in December, why not to hold the RTO registration till January ? this way the RC will show the registration year as 2015 even if the car is manufactured in 2014.

Now I have below queries. pls help me out
1. Is it possible to postpone new car registration after delivery like mentioned above?
2.Is yes, what are the RTO regulations for possessing and operating a non-registered vehicle till it get's registered ?
3. will this improve the resale value of the car ?

thanks in advanced

Car registration date has very less to do with resale value. I just sold my dezire to take zest which was registered in 2010 Jan and manufactured in 2009.
They will consider all ways to reduce the value and will take the manufactured date only.
Or you should be lucky enough to get an ignorant buyer

Did a small trip over the weekend from Mahalakshmi Layout to Mulbagal, Kotilingeshwar, and Bangaru Tirupathi. Trip A shows the FE for whole trip. Trip B shows FE for the return journey from Bangaru Tirupathi to home. Most of the journey was in ECO mode on the highway with around 60% AC in the onward journey. Trip B at one point showed 21.9 kmpl during the return journey before entering KR Puram with around 15% AC. Can it get better after the first service?

I received a following message from my dealer regarding Engine No & Chassis No. Mat623251ELK26145 , now I don't know what is what? Are these numbers real or my dealer is fooling me like Tata motors?
