Re: Tata Zest: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

Basically there are multiple reasons for fire in car and not just due to design flaws.

1. leakage due to battery
2. leakage in fuel lines to engine
3. faulty wiring leading to short circuit and eventually to fire
4. leaky engine seals
5. battery igniting (due to heavy impacts)
6. overheating of catalytic converters
7. Overheating of the engine

So its better if we wait till TML comes up with a detailed report of what caused the fire. The car was parked in yard, so there could be an issue where rat must have bitten off some wiring, fuel pipe that may have caused the fire. lets not jump to conclusion

@Wincy, it would help if TML can provide customer with status of their booking. The SMS' they send is just generic stuff about car, instead it should talk about something like Order Status which these Ecommerce sites follow. This would help lot of customers who are in the dark about the status of their booking & also avoid someone from cancelling their booking due to lack of info.
It's been 2 weeks after my booking , but I have not received any such SMS from TML yet. when I asked SA, he said, TML does not send any such communication after booking zest [surprise] He also said the order number printed on my booking receipt is given by TML and only we (dealer) will communicate to you once your chassis no. is alloted.

all zest owners , -- is this true ?? [confused]

Thanks. I too think on the similar lines. Does that mean dealer has not placed my order to TML yet ? [confused] He says the booking number with TML is printed on my booking receipt.

anyone from Pune received such booking SMS from TML ?

Also pls provide TML CC number with whom I can enquire about status of my booking.
I calld their their tollfree number, but those guys were useless and said they dont have sales info. is there separate sales number for TML where booking can be enquired ?

I had almost similar issue with the delivery of my Dad's Tata Vista VX Tech edition 2 months ago[frustration]. I emailed them at "customercare@tatamotors.com" and i got prompt response within a day. Hope that works for you.[roll]
I dont know whether they work on weekends or not, but you can surely give a try.

Guess what ! few minutes back I got a sms from MYZEST stating that "welcome to TATA Motors family. we will be sending updates & other info on zest"

I think this is because of I called their tollfree number few hour back, and not because of my booking 2 weeks back ??

Re: Tata Zest: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

Guys,

I did the PDI of my Blue Zest XT Revotron today and am happy that I am taking it on Sunday.

While inspecting the vehicle, I saw that there was a piece of paper behind the grills in between the Tata logo and the horn in the bonnet. I have asked the SA to remove it before delivery.

Also the TATA logo is covered with a plastic when taking a new delivery.

Now, coming to the issue of New Zest catching Fire in Pune, the above two might have got heated during the run and might have caught fire. This is purely my guess. So I have clearly told them to remove those two before delivery.

Finally getting it after 45 days. Had booked it on 1st Oct. Decoding the Chassis number helped me to identify that the vehicle was manufactured in Oct 2014.

Two things have been changed and the SA says that this has occurred after taking the customer feedback.
One is the beige fabric on the door pads have been replaced by coffee colored one's. Thoughtful move so that they don't get dirty.
Second, since all of us used to like the alloys on lower models, Tata has now accepted it and have changed the alloys. They are now providing the 18 spoke alloys on the XT which are present in lower models.

Congrats kiran. Good that Tata motors has listened to the customers and made two changes to the top end that customers wanted.

Also if they do listen to the customers and put Airbags in their automatic variant that would sell like hot cakes for sure i think.[:D]

Piece behind the grill, I am not clear but TATA logo is covered with a plastic when taking a new delivery. It is a small plastic sheet just to prevent dust settling in on alloy steel TATA logo.

Re: Tata Zest: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

Just came across this comment on other site regarding TATA ZEST burning issue:

This is something strange and more than coincidence !! Always poor tata cars are shown with burning pics or news about catching fire. Remember the nanos and indicas during initial days had similar stories reported !!

Now the question is why only tata cars ? I am very sure with their world class manufacturing ( which many people vouched for after visiting the factory recently ) with many firsts in India, these cannot happen so frequently.

On the other side, it does make me to think, are tata cars targeted deliberately ? some competitors buying and ensuring negative publicity . Business is ruthless with little scope for ethics I guess !!
