Re: Tata Zest: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

Sahin,

I visited National Autowheels Hadapsar and I had a nice experience with Tata showroom , sales representative was very cooperative though had less technical knowledge.
The test car was not available for sometime when I reached for test drive but I utilized this time in checking each and every detail of the car standing on their display and like most of the people in this forum, couldn't stop myself by praising this beautiful car.
After the test drive of Zest XT RT my perception changed completely about TATA cars, engine was buttery smooth , interiors best in this class, music system, space, seat comfort best in class and many others, what people have already explained.

Only one thing which still bother me is FE, I was expecting it to be on a higher side then the competition accompanied with a Turbocharged engine, still monitoring the owner reviews if it starts showing somewhat better, 14/15 in city would be acceptable for me.
BTW from which dealer you booked the car and did you discuss about the “Mud entering in engine bay” issue with the dealer while booking and what was the feedback, as that’s another reason for making a delayed decision for me.
hi,

when i discussed “Mud entering in engine bay” issue with dealer in Bangalore, they told as "TML has acknowledged it and they are working on redesign of mud flaps on front tyres. Also updated that, once fix is finalised by TML they will replace all existing mud flaps(facing issue) free of cost".

Zest burnt in pune. Its a new one . Even not registered.
oh God, that's horrible. I hope Nono's Story is not getting repeated.
I think we should not conclude anything until the exact reason is known, as this is a real hard worked car from TATA.

Thats very horrible, a huge blow to Tata motors, especially at a time, when the company is trying to recover or come out from negative thinking of indian masses. Company should come to public with in a depth report and make this report public of what really happened to that Zest . I hope Tata motors does this in a very short time.

Oh my god!
This is just what shouldn't have happened at this time to Tata!
Wonder what is the reason and hope Tata soon solves it!
This is a great car. Hope the Nano's case doesn't get repeated again!

Quoting from a witness who witnessed this incident:

I was there when this happened. The car was been driven from the stockyard to Concorde motors, by one of their drivers. Its the new Revotron 1.2 turbo manual gearbox petrol engine and a pre-delivery unregistered car, so someone may be getting their delivery late. :lol!:

As the driver entered the underpass he noticed smoke from the engine and stopped to inspect. In a matter of seconds the entire underpass was full of black smoke and the fire engulfed the engine bay. As luck was good at the time of the incident a water tanker was passing by and on the request from the crowd it helped in dousing the fire. The entire facade lasted for about 20 mins. The last picture shows the car out of the underpass and it was then pushed to Concorde Motors. Couldn't they have towed it from there? Concorde Motors is a good half a kilometer from there.

The police only arrived in the form of two motorcycle patrol personal. No fire brigade.[gun]

People in Pune have gone nuts. People could clearly see a car burning and instead of stopping at a safe distance they decided on get in to the opposite side of the underpass(Which is a one way traffic only) and cross to the other side. Add to this they wanted to take their own sweet time to cross as they wanted to see the burning car as well. This not only created a traffic jam, but had there been any injured person who needed an ambulance or the fire brigade to dowse the flames, help would not have reached the spot. And if the car had to explode at least 8 to 10 vehicles would have been damaged and a good 50 odd people injured.[gun]

Thank you cherry for sharing incident story. Did you have info why this got fired that too undelivered car ?[confused]
Please share more info as and when you get any information on this. As we know TML doesn't want to speak about this incident.
But again by reading the news it is disturbing.

Re: Tata Zest: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

Saw this old video CNB Bazaar Buzz: Focus on Safety - Auto of Tata Zest crash test at their Pune facility. Seems Zest has gone through rigerous testing and will fair good in case of accidents.

Awaiting, Global NCAP test on Tata Zest.
I had been to the TML plant this August.
Yes, Zest is a pretty safe car as per the Standards set for India.
Really impressed by the work they have put in this car.
