And mind you... these are sales numbers which means these many deliveries have been done.
The bookings will be much larger.
Because I remember, by mid Sep, Zest already had 10k bookings.[clap]

But off the track speaking, Elite i20 bookings are going BULLISH.[surprise]
They have 40k bookings already.
I like the design but not the car.

Not very sure if Zest has forced prospective Amaze/Xcent buyers to switch over but definitely Zest has forced buyers to think twice/thrice or even more.

It should also be noted that during these last 3 months, Hyundai's Elite i20 sales have also gone up. Decline in Amaze sales could be attributed to Zest impact and also the ongoing air intake pipe issue which has forced people to look at Elite i20 as a possible replacement.

In my opinion, Xcent is a strong competition to Zest and TML's aspiration would be to become #2 in sub 4m segment. If TML's supply chain could shift gears then it could very well surpass Xcent sales in the coming months.

Hi All - Does TML customer care call people who have booked zest ? It's been a week I booked, there is no call received. I read from other ownership threads that TML called them after few days of booking.

Have they stopped this practice ?

No news from SA or dealer yet. waiting [:)]

You need to follow it up on your own. Call up the customer care and get the contact details (email-id/phone number) of the Territory Sales Manager.

If you look at the chart carefully, Amaze and Xcent sales are really down since launch of ZEST

HONDA AMAZE
Aug - 9198
Sep - 3848
Oct - 3482

HYUNDAI XCENT
Aug - 5509
Sep - 4481
Oct - 4629

TATA ZEST
Aug - 2671
Sep - 3331
Oct - 3524

So, Zest is slowly but surely eating up sales of Amaze and Xcent and if only deliveries would have been smooth and faster, these numbers could even have been higher.[clap]

Even Amaze sales are 63% down since launch of Zest as per chart.
Yes, Everybody is hoping for improve their ASS, so that it will eats up the Hyundai sales also. But again this all depend on how much fast the delivery they can do.

There seems various factors behind the slow sales number of TATA Zest.

First of all may be TATA is not having that much bookings so they are delivering a steady volumes to keep the memento going.

Secondly may be due to the lack of equipment like AMT unit.

Thirdly due to the factory itself where they are unable to make more than 4000 or so units per month.

When it comes to competition, none of the models in this segment was able to give competition to DZire. TATA zest can cause a damage to Xcent or Amaze only. I love TATA Zest and hope it will do wonders in future.

Dzire is no doubt a good product, but after crash test news cropped up, I am beginning to wonder we Indians follow blindly what our friends, relatives and neighbours are recommending and buying without applying some reasoning to it.

Compared to Dzire, Xcent and Zest have loads of gizmos and good build body to prevent serious injuries.

As far as after sales service network is concerned, even Hyundai has lots of service centers across India.

well buddy, its a nobrainer, we indians are herds and follow blindly what the rest of the 10 people do. We do not reason our actions. If 10 people eat **** we tend to do so.

The other thing that works for the foreign brands is we a slavish to the term "foreign brand". We associate quality with foreign. Anything foreign is high quality and any thing indian is inferior quality.

Other wise what will enable the likes of Suzukis and Hondas and Toyotas launch substandard products in India?

I can feel some vibration in the steering when I turn the steering to maximum and slowly start moving the car. Also at bad roads it's not absorbing the shocks so well.
Also when running on Automatic mode , sometimes it takes longer time to change the gear. For eg even at the speed of 50 it keeps running in 3rd gear.

Has anyone noticed the same issue?

October sales shows below for c1 segment:
Honda Amaze 3482
Hyndai Xcent 4629
Swift Dzire 17950
Tata Zest 3524
In spetember zest sales were 3331. Little bit improvement.[clap]
The above figures have got from other forum team-bhp. You can check the below link October 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis - Team-BHP
Even though the sales of Zest has improved month after month, but it is still not upto the expectations.

If they resolve the issues which are reported with the vehicle soon, then maybe slowly the perception of the Tata brand will change. Also once the Bolt is launched, that should help increase the footfalls to the showroom.

I hope that the Zest sales settles to 5k+ figure.

When it comes to the build quality, TATA bodies are solid. I had tasted it once when I had a head on in my Indica with a Maruti Zen. We both hit each other at same spot (Driver Side) and with almost same speed. Only thing damaged in my Indica was some scratches on Wheel Arch and the Tyre folded inside but for the Zen it was worst, Its entire Wheel Arch and half of the bonnet was folded like a paper and the entire Tyre area was damaged. We both were saved from injures however[:)].

There is no doubt that Power to Weight ratio does matter but a solid shell also makes a difference and that's what Zest is also carrying.

Another thing that I have noticed so far is the lack of Paper Media campaigning by TATA in Punjab region. Punjab has always contributed highest percentages of sales of TATA vehicles, but so far since Zest launch I have only seen the advertisement in the newspapers(Punjabi) hardly twice, on the other hand Maruti(Dzire,Swift) almost 5 times a week, Honda(Amaze) 4 to 5 times a week and even Xcent 2 to 3 times a week are showing there presence in newspapers. TATA is always late in everything and they are following the same trend in advertisement area.

Re: Tata Zest: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

Tata could have been the first manufacturer to make Airbags and ABS standard across all the Zest models. Perhaps they would have reduced margins significantly but their image and subsequent sales could have made up for the same
Toyota itself is now copying VW. Tata could be the next?

Guys !
Had been to Tata's regional office in Bangalore (been invited). The TSM has given me an appointment at the dealer location. I am going to provide my feedback on the product as well as the dealer experience in the presence of all who matters. Those who have got issues with the car can send me the details so that it can be addressed. Please don't ignore this. I am in such a position with TML that my voice is not going to be unheard. So please send me all your issues so that I can consolidate it by 12th November a day prior to my meeting.
